    This makes a lot more sense re. Zlatan. I was surprised at Mourinho's bullish press conference where he suggested Zlatan would play. I'd have thought at 35 he shouldn't be playing in the first of a 2 legged Carling Cup tie against a side placed bottom of the table.

    Unless it's a knock, would Mourinho really want Ibrahimović 13 days without competition before a Liverpool game?
     
    Don't really like the «let’s try to finish the tie in the first leg» discourse coming from a player (Pogba), cause it could backfire and not finishing the tie in the first leg might feel like a draw and be demoralising.
     
    I'm not bothered if Zlatan doesn't play I just hope he isnt injured. Still feel we will win comfortably if Rashford is to play up front. In fact I think Rashford is even more suited to win us this game.

    I love and have missed the confidence regarding the whole club. We've had three seasons of shite and no-one taking the responsibility and rallying the troops. I love the bullishness of Zlatan & Pogba, we've missed it. It's not like they don't back it up on the pitch.

    Think you are over analyzing it, of course a player should want to go out and win this in the first leg, can you imagine if a player said "well I am not sure, maybe we should draw the first leg that way our feelings aren't hurt if we don't win" :wenger:

    Hoepfully our players are not so soft that they would go to pieces if they don't get the result they want tonight.

    No-one knows if he’s starting or not. If he isn’t, we’ll probably hear the reason in about 3hrs.

    I don't know about that. Match rythm wouldn't disappear after just under two weeks - and he'd in full training with the team in between.

    Seems more likely that he won't be playing that will, but yeah we will find out soon enough. Think just because Jose said that he and the others would be back that we all now expected him to start. I think if he didn't say that, many would probably not have included him in their starting 11.

    We could win 2-0, and although it's not "Finished" they'd still need to beat us 3-0 to proceed...a 2-0 is almost as good as finished I reckon...

    The plan in the weekend was to start him but something's changed. Either Mourinho's confident we can beat Hull over two legs without Zlatan starting the home tie, he has an injury/another reason to miss the game/he plays.
     
    Just stupid to let Zlatan or Carrick play this one - we are playing the worst team in the P.L - at home. Not to mention a team with 7 defenders missing - and who probably need to use 2 central midfielders in central defense.

    Probably just giving others a chance I hope. Injury would be terrible at this point. But all will be revealed soon enough. Hate this waiting time just before a game.

    I don't think he would've mentioned him by name as one of the four who would start, just to change his mind and leave him out of the 18 a couple of days later. It is annoying to wait, but I'm sure it's nothing big.
     
    We are in deep shit if Xlatan picks up any form of injury.

    True that. Hence I said it was very strange. But yep must be a good enough reason. It's only M.E.N that says he wasn't spotted though hey? Still a possibility that its all a big fuss for nothing and he's play. Something tells me to take him out of my lineup predictor though, but can't seem to get myself to do it!

    Haha, been wondering the same. Kind of expecting him to start as well, although I took him out... It's only MEN, but I don't think other papers have photographers waiting by the Lowry.

    Yeah well I've been doing quite bad this season with the lineup, so will stick with him even though I think its going to cost me :)
    Guess we have another Rooney milestone to look forward to maybe.
     
    For me, it's smart if after our last league game Zlatan didn't feature till Liverpool. Give him two weeks to recharge his battery's and he'll be raring to go.

    Rashford will have another opportunity to lead the line.
     
    Why do we need to rest our players when we play on Tuesday night. We are in semi final, so might should just win the competition. Smash the leg 1 to make the leg 2 easier. The only players I will rest is Carrick only. Any injuries is also part of the game. This is a good pre match before the Liverpool game as well.
     
    I don't think any of our players should be rested for both the Reading game and this one. That would be 13 days without a game which I reckon is counterproductive, especially when we have all of this momentum.

    I’ve been told Ibrahimovic definitely didn’t arrive before the squad did at The Lowry and a separate source says he is not in the team for tonight’s game.

    For feck sake hope Ibra is alright but this could be a massive problem if he misses the Liverpool game. He's been on red hot form at the moment.

    Mkhitaryan, Pogba, Martial, Rashford should be enough I hope.
     
    It's still very surreal to see Pogba's name in the United squad.
     
    Ibra doesn't get injured. If he's not playing he is being rested.
     
    It is worrying if Zlatan is not even in the squad. If I am not mistaken, he has never been left out of the squad for us up until now.
