We had
74% possession against Cardiff, away from home. I can't remember many occasions where we got over 60% at all under Mourinho. I think Cardiff are at least a little bit better of a possession-based and passing side than Huddersfield are, so we really should be expecting to control this game, especially at Old Trafford, with 70%+ of the ball again. This is why I think we can forego a traditional defensive midfield player in this game as we'll have so much of the ball and Huddersfield, IMO, don't bring much of a threat bar set-pieces.
Of course, it happens more than once every season that a small team likely to be in a relegation scrap turns up, defends for their life, gets that stroke of luck and manages a result. However, I can't see that being on Boxing Day at Old Trafford. The lack of a forward on the bench is a little worrying for that reason and I wouldn't be surprised to see one of Greenwood or Gomes given that slot on the bench, but I'd still expect Fellaini, Mata, and Pereira to be the most likely game-changers if it came to it.

Dalot Lindelof Jones Shaw
Fred Herrera Pogba
Lingard Rashford Martial

Romero; Bailly, Young; Matic, Fellaini, Pereira, Mata
I think we can play close to 50% of the game in Huddersfield's half, so Dalot and Shaw should be used to get us forward even more often. Just blow them away, I actually expect us to score 6+ goals over our next two games now.
