Fulham won't be an easy. We started to Wolves at home last season and were caught gravely off guard, so it'll be interesting to see how prepared we are this time around fitness wise and tactically.

Taking my lad to his first game Friday. Just fecking win please.

I can see both sides of the Rashford problem, I just hope the club doesn't need to babysit him too much in fear of the narrative creating headlines if he doesn't start or is taken off in matches.

I think we will have a very strong start to the season. Really impressed with our offensive plays, structural tweaks in place and positive transfers.

great memories starting at Old Trafford against Fulham in 06/07

Hopefully Old Trafford is rocking and we get an early goal.

De Ligt should start and Shaw can surely play an hour

Amad and Garnacho on the wings, and hopefully De Ligt starting. Maybe Zirkzee to get some minutes too.

Same team with Garnacho in for Mount and I can see us having a convincing 2-0 win as long as we can finish those chances. We had a good game against city and I can see us creating loads of chances

    Onana

    Shaw
    Martinez
    DeLigt
    Dalot

    Casemiro
    Mainoo

    Amad
    Bruno
    Garanacho

    Rashford

Not an ideal lineup but should be good enough to get the points. Must take chances this season! Let's go lads!

Always hard predicting the line up for the first game.

I like the new coaches and think they’ll coach the team much better and we’ve already seen that in some games. We’re a lot better at pressing.

Amad and Garnacho on the wings, and hopefully De Ligt starting. Maybe Zirkzee to get some minutes too.
There 2 ideal wingers. One who’ll look to cut in and score for him selves but can also create for others. And the other one who’s very unselfish and a creative winger but again can cut in and score for himself.

Hoping for a win. If we play the same way we did against City we should be fine. We need to fecking have our shooting boots on though.

As others have said, back 4 depends on who is fit and ready, midfield picks itself (Mainoo, Casemiro, Bruno) we have many wing options and I have a feeling Zirkzee will start.

Start Garnacho over Rashford and you have your answer.

Considering Rashford and Garnacho scored the exact same number of PL goals last season, I’m not sure that assumption stands up.

I think last year, we were the 1st game of the season on the Friday vs Wolves. Hopefully we will make a better show of it this year along with the positive result. I think the only player that comes into the 11 for the match is Shaw and maybe only for the hour.

    Onana

    Dalot
    Maguire
    Martinez
    Shaw
    Casemiro
    Mainoo
    Amad
    Mount
    Fernandes
    Rashford

I still think we will adopt the 424 system with the likes of Zirkzee, Garnacho, McTominay coming off the bench. If certain transfers happen before Friday then I think Mazrouri will replace Shaw after the hour mark.

You’re seriously not comparing Garnacho and Rashford last season are you ?

You’re seriously not comparing Garnacho and Rashford last season are you ?
Trouble reading? I was specifically comparing their PL goal scoring records last season.

Someone insinuated that Garnacho was more likely to score than Rashford and so I simply pointed out the fact that they scored the exact same number of PL goals last season.

I could have also pointed out that Rashford scored them in fewer games, but I didn’t bother. I could have also pointed out that this happened during one of Rashford’s worst seasons ever and Garnacho’s best season ever, but I didn't bother.

    Onana
    Dalot Maguire Martinez Shaw
    Mainoo Casemiro
    Amad Mount Garnacho
    Bruno

Subs - Evans for Shaw (Martinez to LB), Rashford for Amad, McTominay for Mainoo, Zirkzee for Mount (Bruno to AM)
I can't see De Ligt or Mazraoui featuring for a Friday night kick off considering they're not even in Manchester yet.

No and I don’t think de Ligt has played any minute in any friendly this preseason .
Looks like he was on the bench against Spurs yesterday however.

    I predict

    ................. Onana

    Dalot - Maguire - Martinez - Shaw

    ........ Casemiro - Mainoo

    Amad - Fernandes - Garnacho

    .............. Rashford

I am in a positive vibe and think we will win 2-1 in a competitive match. I hope TH has the bollocks to drop Rashford and start with Zirkzee. Rashford played yesterday the same as he ended last season, despite all his PR bullshit in June.

    Onana
    Dalot - Maguire - Martinez - Amass
    Casimero - Mainoo
    Amad - Mount - Rashford
    Bruno

AWB out. De Ligt has only had few minutes during pre season. Mazroui might come in from the bench. With thr high amount of minutes Amass has received I could see ETH give him a chance here unless Shaw is ready. The front 6 would most likely be the same as against City with Zirkwee and Garnacho coming in from the bench
This is what I expect to see, Shaw fitness dependent, with Amass being one of the first subs out.

The quality and importance of the goals, the age and experience of the players. You also didn’t bother.

    Anyway, I predict a 3-0 win.

If he'd been playing for Netherlands he might have been an option, like Bruno, Mainoo and Lisandro, but he was on the bench for them so can't even do that.

Can’t see De Ligt playing considering his game time. Mazraoui has had a preseason so he should be available. He could play RB and Dalot LB.

Otherwise I think it will be very similar to Saturday.

Looks like his last competitive game was about 3 months ago and then a friendly 2 months ago.

    Anyway, I predict a 3-0 win.
How are any of those relevant to who is more likely to score in our upcoming PL games?

To me the goals per game stat of 0.21 versus 0.19 seems the most relevant stat when it comes to assessing the likelihood of scoring.

    Onana
    Dalot Maguire Martinez Shaw
    Casemiro Mainoo
    Amad Bruno Rashford
    Zirkzee

Zirkzee should be starting this. He would have a couple more training sessions with the team and needs game time. Same with Shaw. I don't think ETH ever said he was injured, just that he needs to assess his fitness which probably makes me think he didn't want to risk him against City and hence should be available for Fulham.

If Mazraoui and De Ligt deals go through in time for them to be registered, I'd expect Mazraoui to get 25-30mins in the 2nd half replacing Shaw and De Ligt like 5-10mins in place of Maguire. Garnacho for one of Rashford/Amad and Mount or Sancho for Zirkzee.

De Ligt, Zirkzee, Garnacho, all in similar situations in terms of fitness. Not many minutes during the international tournament and no pre-season. Shaw played a little, but he is a bit of of a unique case with his fitness record. Hoping some behind closed door friendlies in the next few weeks can get us up to speed.

I can see us playing a similar team to the Community Shield with Mazraoui coming in for Evans.

I'm expecting a very similar line-up to the one that faced Man City, just due to the short turnaround (although we could see a behind closed doors friendly tomorrow, or even Wednesday if it largely features players who haven't played much pre-season). Hopefully subs can be utilised well to get minutes for players like De Ligt, Mazraoui, and Zirkzee.
