    Know The Opposition

Fotballklubben Bodø/Glimt, also referred to as Bodø/Glimt or its former name Glimt (and nicknamed Glimt (Flash), Superlaget (The Super Team), Den Gule Horde (The Yellow Horde)), is a Norwegian professional football club from the town of Bodø.

While other towns in Nordland county like Narvik, Mo i Rana and Mosjøen had started their football clubs earlier, the larger town of Bodø was without a major football club until the latter part of 1916. The new club was founded as Fotballklubben Glimt. Glimt's first match was against Bodø Highschool, because Glimt was the only football club in town. The club changed its name in 1948, due to an older club from Trøndelag having the same name, and has since gone by the name Fotballklubben Bodø/Glimt.

Bodø/Glimt are three-time champions in Norway after winning the 2020, 2021 and 2023 Eliteserien seasons. They also have won the now defunct Northern Norwegian Cup nine times, and the Norwegian Cup twice. They were the first team from northern Norway to win a national title by winning the cup in 1975, the first team from the region to win the national league and also the northernmost European club to win a national league competition.

Glimt is known for its yellow kits and the huge yellow toothbrushes that its supporters carry to the matches — a supporter symbol from the 1970s. Their rivals include cross-town club IK Grand Bodø. They play their home games at the Aspmyra Stadion.

B/G have a way more important match only three days later, so will most certainly rest some key players. Not that we usually manage to take advantage of that, but here's hoping under Amorim.

    Onana
Yoro - De Ligt - Martinez
    Mazz - Casemiro - Mainoo - Garnacho
    Amad - Bruno
    Hojlund

If all injury free this would be the optimal starting eleven

    Onana
    Mazraoui De Ligt Shaw
    Amad Casemiro Ugarte Dalot
    Garnacho Bruno
    Rashford
Should try to get his best team playing as much as possible, as quickly as possible. Doesn't have the time to give everyone a chance with mass rotation.

Do not underestimate Bodø/Glimt. They are at least on par with FC Copenhagen and are thus one of the 2-3 strongest teams in Scandinavia. So we could have problems against Copenhagen last season, then we can also have it against Bodø/Glimt.

Yep, they beat Porto who we struggled against.

Jens Petter Hauge is a player I'm looking forward to seeing. He didn't work out at AC Milan but, since leaving, it looks like he's become a fun player to watch.

    Onana
Yoro - De Ligt - Shaw
    Antony - Ugarte - Mainoo - Malacia
    Amad - Mount
    Hojlund

He did say there will be rotation cause that’s the only way they will learn about the structure.

Hopefully we will see some young players playing to impress. Amass or Mantato at LWB at least.

I'm going to this! Ruben's first match at OT!

Hopefully we'll win this game, put us in a good run and hopefully having some bodies back to rotate.

Bodø/Glimt and are top of the Norwegian league and come into this game off the back of 2-0 away win against Odd. On Thursday they are up against another odd group of players.

I'm sure there'll be some posters who come out with the usual "give kids / squad players a go as it's only the EL. Save the key first teamers for the weekend league game".

Completely disagree with that thinking in general anyway. But especially so in the current situation. Short term - we're in a must win situation with all remaining EL matches if we're to finish top 8, so can't afford any dropped points here. And long term - it's important the key players start to feel settled into the new formation and game plan and what's being asked of them individually and as a team. So the more matches the key personnel play together over this upcoming period the better.

I'm not going to predict an actual line up as I'm not sure where the returning players are at as regards being ready for starts. But just hope we go with the same kind of line up as he'll be picking for the league games, and not treat this match any differently or give it any less significance.

Hoping to see a good performance by the whole
    squad, goals and effort.

    Onana
Mazraoui - de Ligt - Shaw
    Antony - Casemiro - Ugarte - Malacia
    Amad - Bruno
    Hojlund

Based on Amorim's comments in the post-match press conference, I would expect a lot of rotation.

I think he'll select what most would think is the actual best or most coherent collection of 10 outfield players for this one. He's not going to be executing a high pressing game with Rashford up top and no legs in midfield.

Think it's time Dalot sits out a match too.

Assuming everyone is fit, I would like to see:

    Onana
    Yoro, De Ligt, Shaw
    Antony, Ugarte, Kobbie, Dalot
    Amad, Mount
    Hoijund
I'm not too fussed on the wingbacks, would be okay with Maz and Garnacho out there too.

This one is smack dab in the middle of Thanksgiving dinner for Yanks like me, so I will luckily be spared from what will likely be an underwhelming performance.

I really wanna see this middle:

    — Mainoo——— Amad

    — Bruno ——— Ugarte

Pretty much a full squad to choose from. Should be another interesting line up.

    ---------------------Onana----
    -----Mazraoui-de Ligt--Shaw
    Amad---Ugarte-Mainoo---Dalot
    --------------Bruno----Mount
    --------------------Hojlund

Bench: Bayindir, Garnacho, Rashford, Zirkzee, Casemiro, Eriksen, Yoro, Malacia, Antony

It's at 3pm EST. That's the middle of dinner for you?

Amorim said in the presser that we need to rotate with our schedule and we'll use rotation to train the players not starting as if it was normal training sessions and the starters will have their more relaxed recovery training, as a way to accelerate learning the system. So I'd expect not the starting 11 players here, or maybe guys returning from injury

    My team:

    -----------------------------------Onana
---------------------Mazraoui - De Ligt - Shaw
    -------------Amad - Ugarte - Eriksen - Dalot
    --------------------------Mount - Garnacho
    ----------------------------------Holjund

With hopefully Malacia and Yoro fit enough to get some minutes.

Team looks good yes. Maybe start Hojlund over Marcus the Rash
