I'd love to see Gomes and Fred start....I'd love to know what it is about Gomes that Ole doesn't see because he mentions all the other kids far more than Gomes.

Anyway be nice to see Greenwood and Axel get a start tonight.

I think its an unneccessary risk really. We'd be better off playing 2 or 3 for the first 4 games, winning them all and then playing more when we are qualified, rather than throw a bunch of players into thr first team who have no experience and then be forced to play our best players to salvage qualification. Not to mention the very unwanted negative press we'd get for any losses at home to crap yeams would bring.

Meh i disagree. This is the home fixture with a team from Kazahkstan. Pretty sure we can afford a whopping 4 youth products starting (all of whom have made our premier league bench already) and still have plenty of international experience.

If they didn't perform, that would show that some of them aren't as good as they or people think.

Arsenal took 16 points from 18 last season playing Smith-Rowe, Nketiah, Willock, Saka, Maitland-Niles, Guendouzi and even Jenkinson!

Only conceded 2 goals as well.

Axel, Gomes, Chong and Greenwood starting leaves plenty of space for experienced heads alongside them. Can see Fred and Matic starting for some match fitness.

Hoping Gomes and Greenwood start, and then Chong and Garner get subbed on later. Unrealistic to expect 3 of the 4 youngsters to start when the rest of the team will be rotated anyway.

I know it's still early in the season and for sure Gomes while get plenty of minutes, but I will be really disappointed if Gomes doesn't start tonight, or at the very least gets 30 mins or so.

TFM has had a lengthy injury - even if he is back (I'm not sure he is) he'd probably play a few games in the reserves first. Shaw is still injured as far as I understand it.

There was a post on here a couple of years ago which was probably the best post of the year.

It was the Thursday night of a Europa League match, and after 10 or so pages of discussion just like on here tonight, the post went something along the lines of -

Who the hell gives a flying feck about a Thursday night match on the outer fringes of Europe ( it was either Rostok or Luhansk ) after watching CL matches on Tuesday and last night. Does it really matter if we play Mata as a false No 9 and whether McTominay should at least be on the bench ? How our standards have slipped when we get excited by this sort of match.
