Yeah, he was pretty poor as well. It's worth a try though, he'll bring more energy to the role than Fletcher can these days and Valencia has lost basically all use as a winger.

I could actually see Valencia carrying the ball through the centre to good effect today. No idea how quick Besic is but he'll roast Barry.

Of course, what he does once he gets into a promising position is any body's guess.

I would rather Valencia was centre mid rather than out on the wing. Come to think
of it, I would rather he was anywhere than his actual position. I'm confident today , reckon we will win this comfortably.

[QUdon't"BenRobbins, post: 16557546, member: 83004"]Did anybody watching BT sport just see how quick Rooney is still? Bloody hell, he bombed past smalling etc Would love to see him turn it on like that in a game

I dont have bt sport. Can you explain? Was it showing training?[/QUOTE]
It was a breakaway attack by Leicester that led to a goal. Rooney burst past Smalling chasing the Leicester player, despite starting way behind Smalling, in a situation where Smalling should have been at top speed.

C'mon United!!!! You're the better team so just perform for fecks sake! 3 massive points today and could be as high as 4th place!

I once joked that Valencia looks like Paulinho's twin and therefore should play as box to box. I don't think he will have that different role today. He is a workhorse, hopefully his positioning won't be that terrible. I think we will be threatening down that right wing with Rafael in great form with Besic inexperienced mistake prone player I think we have a chance through the right middle as well as from the left diMaría must bully Hibbert but I wouldn't be surprised Hibbert would suddenly bring performance of his life on, it's always like that.. Pienar will help him a lot.. Need to score early goal

I want to see one of those games we used to see during Fergie, attack them from start to finish, score an early goal, then another and the whole time never give them a chance to come back. Just attack them till they brake.

hasselbank telling about van gaal's philosophy. HE says van gaal thinks if u keep the ball, you dont need to defend one on one or two on two. FOr van gaal its always pass pass pass..

    You sure?
    From BBC's report:

Van der Sar, Rafael Da Silva, Vidic, Evans (O'Shea 71), Evra, Ronaldo (Scholes 58), Fletcher, Giggs, Park (Rooney 58), Berbatov, Tevez.

Plenty of Brits, no Englishmen starting though.

United have named a youth player in the matchday squad in every league game since October 1931 though.

anyone has a good streaming link for the match?

'I think the fear factor is gone at Old Trafford' -BTSport Commentators.

Hurts inside when I hear such a thing :(

Can actually see Valencia doing well in that role, I just hope Blind had the game of his life to let Tony and Rafael do their thing down the right. Can see Valencia getting booked though, he's not good enough at tackling to last in midfield.

Wow I've just realised 6 of the 11 starting today (De Gea, Rojo, ADM, Valencia, Mata, Falcao) speak Spanish as there native language.
Only Shaw and McNair are native English speaking.

    How times have changed,

English native speaking players are mainly shit that's why.

I worry about the Valencia selection too. Yet successive managers have put their faith in him, obviously there's something we are not seeing. I agree with you about Herrera's impact, and I think Fletch (on form) uses the ball far better than Valencia does. Still, I can only assume there's some tactic behind his inclusion. Guess we'll see shortly, eh?

Tbf I think people read too much in to Valencia's continued selection. In Fergie's last season I think that was when Valencia first went of the rails and there was a lack of options plus at that point there was no reason to think it wasn't just some form loss. If Fergie stayed there's no reason to think he might have revamped the wings or turned back to Nani who spent a lot of time injured as well and had the contract issue.

Moyes made the mistake though of not investing and he clearly liked Valencia for his work rate. LVG has effecitvely dropped him from his team though and only deemingly played him at the start and now due to injuries. Personally I think his inclusion is more to do with wanting to play 2 strikers and so keep with the diamond more than anything else.

But yeah we'll have to see. Hopefully he's fine, he'll help on his wing but I just worry about the middle and about how well we'll attack.

    Cant wait for today!

Got a fiver on falcao any time and also a fiver on a falcao hatrick!! Come on united!!

People saying that Di Maria is going to tear Hibbert a new one...is he not going to be playing more central midfield with Herrera out?

Looking at our team and evertons team surely we will win and win quite easily,

Actually worried Hibbert might go out to try injure one of our lads today! Hope Di Maria can show his magic

Yes! Me too! Just start real quick. Don't let them get in the game at all. The lads need to have the killer instinct today!

Hibbert is a dinosaur, Di Maria should rip him to shreds.

My line-up prediction has not been counted despite doing it on Friday.

Valencia is the right choice IMO, yes he offers nothing going forward but he has more running in him than Fletcher and is more disciplined than Fellaini, he'll just help double up on Baines.

Got home from work a couple of hours ago, first time I've been able to get pissed for a United game this season! Really excited for this and I really like our lineup!

    Not Italian?

BT Sports just seem to be banging on about Everton getting a result here.
