Because it's a long ball. The margin for error is obviously greater. It's being played from back to front, from a position of space. Whereas Carrick's passes take more precision (in my opinion, anyway), and aren't from (or into) nearly as much space.
Fair enough, if Carrick hasn't played those passes. I'm sure I remember him doing so. But even if he can't do it, I don't see how one pass from Blind elevates him to better than Carrick at passing.
Carrick trumps him at every other pass, and even the noteworthy pass that Blind does isn't from midfield - so it's made less difficult in some ways.
And it adds value. I'm not arguing it's not a great pass from Blind. Just that this pass alone doesn't outweigh Carrick's superiority in other passes.
But... different opinions.
