It's not strange, I can only think of two games he has let us down. Best backup keeper in the league for a few years now. But yeah, his last game makes it look like you may get the same from him. Surprising really when they have been a definite top strength in the squad.

I absolutely disagree. I don't disagree with you claiming that they didn't create much, but I completely think you are utterly missing the point by claiming that sitting back does not invite the creation of dangerous moments/positions by our opponents...which in turn starts to leave room for errors, luck etc.

The best form of defence is attack. And I'm not even referring to going gung-ho for goals, I'm referring to simply pressing from the front. Especially when all they have is a slow Higuain chasing any punts.

The sitting back is most certainly, categorically a sub standard approach.

Let's stick behind our players. Dave's had a rough year but you don't go from being one of top 3 keepers in the world to being "done" this quickly. If it can be determined that his poor play is due to wanting out of the club or being distracted, fine, bench him. DeGea's nightmare year started in the WC. He's going through a horrific run of form but dropping him would probably ensure that our best player for the past several seasons wouldn't play for us again.
