Just saw Jose leave the Lowry. Assuming he's going to the press conference.

Pogba is at no risk of suspension. All yellows are left starting from semi-final and the only way a player will miss the final is if he gets sent off tomorrow.

So his booking in the first leg involves no risk of suspension through another booking? I did ask in the match day thread and seem to recall people saying otherwise. Hope you're right.

We were afraid of that this day but later on I found what I told you. You need 3 yellows to get suspended and all yellows are left after reaching semi-finals so impossible for any player to miss the final except if they get a red in the semis. This applies to the CL too , btw.

We haven't scored a goal from open play in 7 hours of football.

The Ibrahimovic injury has hit us hard, let's hope Rashford/Mata/Mkhitaryan find their scoring boots for this one.

That's a relief. Thanks for the info!

A highlights video of Romero in the EL this season would be about a minute long. People want to ignore the opposition have generally been average sides and he hasn't had a lot to do.
Well, he was the designated keeper for the EL since the beginning. And had great appearances when needed.

Exactly. Doubt Dave would have much to do in these games either. That one great save against Rostov, but people are just looking at what's on paper. The suggestion that Romero and De Gea are similar level is insane.
It is insane to think they are at the same level. That's why I don't think I've seen anything like that written here. Did you?

I'm afraid this might amount to the same as the Anderlecht games, almost totally dominated them away but couldn't kill the tie and then had troubles containing them at home. The starting result this leg is better and we hopefully won't have a major disruptive injury, like the one Rojo had.

Also, I'm still a bit confused about our attacking setup. I guess we're starting in a cautious 4-3-3, but can only be sure of Rashford to start, all others have a more or less chance of starting, due to more experience (Mata, Rooney) or form (Martial), even if they started the last game.

Martial just arrived by himself. Just in case Luckhurst and co don't see him get off the team bus and try to stir drama.

For anyone not feeling confident, maybe a few of these points will help out.

    1. We've lost ONE game at home this season, a few games into Jose's reign when City had a storming start. Even then that probably should have been a draw.
    2. Celta have a City reject whose name I can't even remember, who looked like an absolute shed in the first leg, Aspas from Liverpool reject fame, and a Fulham loanee!
    3. They're mid table!
    4. We have given rest at the right time to 4 or 5 key players.
    5. Mourinho is a cup master.

Just seen the squad arrive at the Lowry.

    Rooney
    Blind
    Rashford
    De Gea
    Valencia
    Jones
    Smalling
    Romero
    Darmian
    Pogba
    Bailly
    Tuanzebe
    Mata
    Carrick
    Herrera
    Fellaini
    Lingard

And Martial arrived earlier. Didn't see Mkhitaryan.

    ----------Romero
    Valencia Bailly Blind Darmian
    ---Fellaini Herrera Pogba
    ---Mata Rashford Lingard

Advance to the final and we are heavy favourites to win the cup. Mou will continue to rest his players for the biggest game of the season and will study his tactics class on Ajax very well. Would be a nice end to a pretty mediocre season.

Apparently, their coach Berizzo said and their fans are expecting some changes concerning Aspas position, that could play alone in front or as second forward, with Wass on the right, leaving Darmian with not that much to do.

Bit worried about that prediction chart.

Everything seems to be aligning for a shock wonder performance from Celta where they sneak it 2-1.

Despite what we saw last week they're more than capable.

So I'm staying at the Lowry at the moment. Thinking of doing some creeper lobby lounging waiting for the squad to come.

I'll be much more reliable than fecking Luckhurst that's for sure.

Anyone know what time they usually arrive? I'm assuming it's going to be after the press conference.
Camp outside Joses door. I'd be relentless for sure.

Just hope won't be a stressful game, like 1:1 and 3 minutes till the end..
Not sure I can take that tomorrow night. Think Celta will show themselves from a better side so we better damn show up.

He lives in a wing of the hotel with some of his coaching staff that isn't accessible to anyone other than club and hotel employees. He seemed to be in very good spirits though.

Yeah I assumed he did. So no Miki?

He was the only player I didn't see, he might have arrived after I went up to my room or he might just live here in the hotel. Or might not be a part of the squad, who knows.

    Anyone else shitting it?

    2 games. Make or break.

Pray for an early goal. Can't deal with other Anderlecht-esque performance.

No , but im a bit concerned that it has become ' make or break' Chucking top 4 has really cranked up the pressure on this game .
Hopefully it wont make us too cautious , we should have enough to get past celta , its all down to how we set up & perform in the game now.
Like you say, an early goal is required.

Unless Mkhi is injured, can't see why he wouldn't be in the squad.

    I'll suggest:

    Romero
    Valencia Bailly Blind Darmian
    Fellaini Herrera Pogba
    Mkhi Rashford Lingard

    Hope Mata starts.

His composure in attack will be needed.

Calm heads are needed tomorrow. Just hope the supporters don't transmit any nervousness (or worse, apathy) to the players.

    Nobody need lose their sh*t.

Mkhitaryan has been placed lately on the left and Lingard in the right. Although were he does seldom excel is as #10, but I'm guessing a 4-3-3 tomorrow, like you.

What in God's name has a clubs budget got to do with the amount of games played? He's a fecking anti United clown.
It isnt so hard to imagine right? Club with a higher budget has a better selection and better bench which proves to be effective/handy when you play a lot of games. Teams with lower budget and weaker selections are more often tired out by the end of the season.

Not sure what point Ballbag is trying to make though, he's a cnut..so unnecessary.

Don't think mate, 2 yellows in the semis he will miss the final surely.

No. Player should accumulate 3 yellow cards for suspension, so unless Pogba gets 2 in this game he won't be suspended for finals.

    Sigh.

On what grounds will Celta win 2-1 at Old Trafford???!!!

There is no shred of evidence that they can pull that off! Absolutely None.

Even when we struggled at home, we never lost (except against City and Celta is no City at all).

We have played six at home and won all six in the EL. We have an away goal so they will play open football against us at Old Trafford. We like that.

We clearly have a stronger squad, a more experienced manager, and we are desperate. The bookmakers have us odds on to win. The pundits have us odds on to win. Even Celta de Vigo fans have us odds on to win.

So, how in the world will they come to Old Trafford and beat us 2-1???

Yes, football is crazy and anything can happen but if they pull it off, it will be one of those rare occurrences like Barca over turning a 4-0 deficit against PSG or Leicester City winning the premier league kind of stuff. These illustrations are not far from reality in this scenario because we are talking about Celta de Vigo here not Real Madrid or even Arsenal.

I think we really need to calm down, have some faith, give the team super support and enjoy the game.

    3-1 United.
