How can anyone say that's not a penalty? We'd be fuming if it wasn't given at the other end. Its all on Bruno.

    I’d wait until 60’ish and do Weg->Garnacho.
    I’m guessing 1-1 by 60, 3-1 by FT

I could see that but we're losing in midfield quite badly. Mainly cos Fred is man marking FdJ quite ineffectively but not doing much else.

Except that he had the highest pass accuracy of all 22 players first half (91%). Casemiro 61%.
He is alright to pass it back but to get away of a tricky situation, he is horrible. Definitely not a baller.
He is the reverse of Shaw.
You should try to make a thread about AWB being a good passer to see what people think.

It easy to look at stats and make conclusions . But that don’t tell us how the players receive the ball and what they are doing with it.

I am not an AWB hater but he hasn’t been good today in my opinion and is consistently lacking on his passing.

Don't understand the bizarre Fred hate here again, he was probably one of our few players in that half who was fine. Gave away a free kick near our box but didn't do much wrong aside from that. Likewise with AWB who has actually been fine, although seeing too much of the ball for my liking (and that's by design for Barca). Weghorst is useless aside from his pressing, Bruno has been the worst overall player so far, Sancho has been poor, Rashford was invisible, Casemiro had a few great moments but some really poor giveaways as well. There are bigger issues to worry about

Outplayed, but also this match has been stolen from us by VAR. Absolutely bonkers that didn't get overturned.

Honestly, pack it in. Take Varane, Casemiro, Bruno, and Rashford off to save them for Sunday.

Last thing we need is to score one goal and send this match to an extra 30min today.
    Inspirational stuff.

The more I watch the penalty, the worse it gets. The danger's been dealt with, the boy's running away from goal, why put your hand on him at all? Bruno was literally asking for the Barca player to dive there.
It’s so brainless. Like some have said in this thread, our players just don’t know how to act in European knockout matches. No street smarts, no composure. Occasions keep getting to them

As I sse it ETH has made 3 mistakes:

    1) Weghorst should never play a game like this. He is overmatched.
    2) Sancho should play on the right wing.
    3) Bruno should play in the center.
Weghorst played in the first leg…

Penalty was soft. If it wasn't given by the ref, I don't think VAR gives it. The contact from Bruno was well before the player actually went over, and was fairly minimal at that.

Still, the worse decision was not giving the foul on Rashford right on the edge of the box just a minute earlier. He had his foot swiped from under him. As soon as the referee glossed over that clear decision, you knew it wasn't going to get better.

Really can't stand seeing Weghorst start every game. So slow, always a step or two behind the play, and just not in tune with the other forwards. Really don't think we need a big brute CF to win this. He doesn't win anything in the air anyway. Bring on Garnacho and put Rashford up top. Or bring on Sabitzer and do more to win the midfield battle.

Keep digging that hole, I saw tons of people and even commentator saying it was not, but keep that biased double down. You are doing great!
Last post I'm going to make about this because talking to you I can feel myself getting dumber. Its very clearly a penalty and its only United fans are arguing it isn't. Quotes from various news sources (which I'm sure you'll say aren't valid, are also biased). I cannot find a single one saying it wasn't a penalty, only the MEN saying it was soft. Again, I'm done with you, you can reply if you want, I won't be.

There’s plenty of contact there and the referee points straight to the spot.

    Peter Schmeichel said:
It looks like a penalty. It is so stupid to pull a man down inside the penalty area in a situation where Alejandro Balde is going away from goal.

    Guardian said:
Balde turns and chases after it, only to be hauled down by Fernandes, who had hold of his arm. The referee points to the spot. Balde went down extremely easily, but Fernandes had hold of his arm for way too long. VAR has a good look but isn’t going to overturn it.

    Daily Mail said:
I was stunned by this with the naked eye, but it looks a good spot as Fernandes had a clear arm around Balde and gave him a pull

    Telegraph said:
The Barca player did go down a bit too easily BUT the Portuguese definitely had his arm on his opponent and it's a clear penalty.

Really puzzling. We struggle badly against Spanish teams at home and I don't know if it's just to coincidence.

Reason why I wasn't too optimistic about today.
Probably because they are pretty good

sometimes the answer is the obvious one

this whole farmers league BS, is really not accurate

Fair enough if the ref gets conned, that’s what var is for. Why they refuse to overturn obvious fecking balls ups is beyond me

Aye this whole won’t overturn the decision unless it’s a clear and obvious error thing is a load of shite. If it’s not a penalty then don’t give it! Don’t just go along with the ref because he thought it looked like one.

bruno loses his head far too easily and far too often

Congratulations on the day's worst post  :wenger:

It’s not that anyone’s had a stormer, it’s that when you play with essentially a fan upfront in a tight game it gives even less opportunities for others to contribute because he’ll offer nothing.

The same reason our attack looks magically better whenever Martial is fit even if he doesn’t score/create much. At least Bruno and Sancho have a CHANCE at doing something at any given moment. Weghorst doesn’t. Ffs the Bruno chance should have been a tap in but Weghorst literally couldn’t beat man on his run.
I get your point, but for some reason Ten Hag likes a big lump up front. You can see it with Haller at Ajax and all the various strikers we've been linked so far. Sesko, Arnautovic, Gakpo and now Weghorst. I think he looks worse now because he's been asked to play some sort of playmaker role at #10 position. And he's only playing cause Martial cant stay fit.

I'd expect us to play far better just sticking him up top and let Bruno play as #10.

Edit: I might be talking out of my arse here. Wasn't Sancho playing at #10 this game? He was so invisible I thought Weghorst was at #10 with Sancho on the left.

Terrible first half. We need Sabitzer for Fred, Garnacho for Wout, Antony for Sancho at half time

It's soft as feck but you could argue both ways IMO. If it's not given for being too soft then VAR wouldn't overturn, just like it didn't step in now. Subjective call. Fair enough but all the soft calls have been in their favor so that's annoying
