If we are as open as we have been all season then it could be 6-0. Park the bus Jose style.

Remember when Ole had Pep's number for a little while? Multiple wins with Maguire and Lindelof as our CBs, Fred and McTominay as our midfield, and Lingard/Pereira/James in attack.

Who'd have thought that after hiring ten Hag, and giving him hundreds of millions to spend, the gap between us would be even bigger than it was then.

I’m usually pretty positive but I don’t see even a remote chance of any result. We are playing horrifically and with our best players out I’d give us less than 5% of getting anything. Can’t actually remember the last time I felt so defeated before even going onto the pitch. Let’s just hope the players give everything and surprise us all!

Not sure why the doom considering we managed to score 3 on our last visit. Granted we conceded 6 but hey, why nit pick.

Agreed. I'm probably not going to watch. I didnt watch the other City game and I didn't regret it. If the players aren't bothered, why should I be?

Cos that's not how supporting a football team works.

I'm pretty much dreading this game. Though, on the other hand, it feels like a free hit as I'm fully expecting a convincing defeat so anything better - even a competitive defeat - will feel like a bonus.

The much bigger match of the two for me was the cup game v Forest. Delighted we got through that and kept our hopes of silverware alive. Our hopes of top 4 or 5 won't be decided by how we go on away to City, so can afford to lose this one (and almost certainly will!) The bigger league games are the much more winnable 2 or 3 after this - we can't afford to drop points in games like those if we're to get CL qualification.

Is it ok for me to want us to lose so we can let Man City not concede further ground to Liverpool in the title race?

I think we should protest the Glazers and force the match to be postponed indefinitely. We are not ready to face them without our best XI. Haaland has evolved into hopefully his final form, and we have nothing that can stop him.

Just dont lose. Park the bus and play on the counter. Target their left side the way Chelsea did. They can be got at. They're at home and in the title race so all the pressure is on them. Just don't get humiliated, can't take another 3-0 or 4-0 in this fixture.

Expecting a similar performance to the one at Anfield, very pragmatic and try and hit the team on the counter. Got no expectations but I don't think the team will get steam rolled because it won't be the system the manager has expressed all season it will be a reserved approach.

It would not surprise me if we have our best tactical game of the season, like the one against Liverpool but this time we even win, just to mess it up for City and help Liverpool take another PL in Klopps last season and we still miss out on top 4, maybe even 6. But next season....

Unfortunately we need to win for ourselves. Need to still push for top 4. We can still have a say in the title race as we still have to play all 3 teams yet. Liverpool and Arsenal at home.

City are not as fluid as previous seasons. Will be a close game.

they scored six a couple of days ago

Never been less confident going into one of these.

Not sure this team has the nous for a back to the wall and break display

a firing Rashford and Garnacho would be a great help

    I'd play

    -------------------Onana----------------
    WK/VL----Varane--Evans---DD
    --------Amrabat---Casemiro-----
    -----------------Mainoo----------------
    Garnacho--Bruno---Rashford

    Bruno dropping back in/false 9

disappointed he didnt give Willy a chance at right back last night to see if its an option

I definitely like the idea of putting 3 recognised CM’s in the team, and Amrabat and Mainoo can actually pass the ball.

I think Dalot has to stay RB, he is a constant threat in that position and moving him to LB removes that threat and any threat we have from either RB or LB. I’d prefer playing Lindelof at LB which allows us to tuck in and have 3 CB’s and whoever is the LW can drop back in.

We have to make it hard for them to play between the lines and try to frustrate them. I can’t see us getting anything out to the game but a organised team that puts in a shift would be better than laying down and taking it.

Why all that negativity? 0-0 boring to watch but point is a point.

Don't think we'll get a thrashing, but I expect it'll be a very comfortable 2-0 win for city

Only 16% of the Manchester United fans, in a Manchester United forum, expect us to lose by less than 3 goals :lol::lol:

City have beat only Burnley, Fulham, Bournemouth and us by that margin this season (2H, 2A in 26 games). That's 15% of the games & 84% are expecting that.

This. Very similar to the draw we got at Anfield except we had Hojlund, Antony, Mctom & Shaw over Casemiro, Rashford, Lindelof & Bruno but this looks equally as solid.

I'd play Bruno as the striker, he plays that high anyway, let him be the false 9 and pack the midfield with McT, Mainoo and Casemiro

To be honest there's not much we can do if De Bruyne and Haaland show up and decide they want to win.

Pep has been talking like he's going to do something weird, wacky and experimental in this game. We really better not allow him to put us to the sword with some new(old) pisstake of a system.

It's evident that even W-M can be implemented in this era with the right personnel, but beyond that? I don't want to see some weird, wacky 1-4-1-4 or some such from them. If he does go through with whatever he has in mind and pulls it off, this game will be about more than the humiliation of losing or even goals conceded. We better not let that happen.
