I mean, come on, Fred is a professional footballer. Recieving a 5-yard and playing it off to a teammate is meat and drink for them. The only question here is why Fred, a central midfielder by trade, felt he needed to take a touch in a situation where the opposition have been pressing their asses off.
I honestly don't see where Maguire is even partially at fault here.
The problem is not Fred’s pass but the touch before it. For a midfielder, his first touch is fecking atrocious. Troy Deeney was spot on.

Just nonsense, Fred is static with a player already running at him. The idea that Maguire should play it to Fred rather than all the other options is as you say 'fecking stupid'.
Fred has two options back to goalie or boot it out. Neither are good outcomes which is why as a defender he should be making any other pass.Why the heck are they doing the semi draw at half time?!If we can get through this, Southampton in the semi final. Chance of Ole getting more than a semi?

Watching say, Neville for Sky, at least he makes an attempt to explain what the player should have done or what they were trying to do or thinking.
Shearer just watches clips back and says 'ah should have scored' or 'he maybe could have done better there' or some other useless nonsense.
