The problem for me, is we need to really pull out a performance here, and it's kind of difficult to see where we pull it from all of a sudden.

Large parts of the Southampton, West Ham and Chelsea games were piss poor. We started badly at Villa....

We need to be sharp, as poor form as Leicester have shown...they will be bamg up for this after a week rest.

There's been alot of whinging and moaning, and there are some proper melts around here. 'Oh that's top 4 gone' , 'bye CL'. feck off.

That being said, I'd be lying if I was confident of a performance on Sunday. I'm hopeful, as when these players are at it, we can roll most over.

That being said, with what I see as promising players, we have been poor last 3 games.

I do worry about the in game management. I'm not an expert, far from it...I'm just a thicko on a forum. But when the game is passing us by, where are the changes/instructions?

I get our squad depth is thin on quality, but why did we let absolutely stinking performances continue? Why did we keep players absolutely dead on their feet out there?

I don't know, you just feel like we have been sleepwalking last few weeks...time to wake up. We need to inject some energy, can't afford to let Sunday game pass us by, Leicester have the quality to punish that.

Why a leeds fan as a ref on sunday? Atkinson hates us and it started to show as a linesman in 2003 when Arsenal scored two offside goals in the game a few games before end of season.

Can see Sunday being a rollercoaster of emotions, United will be third one minute, fifth the next, then fourth etc.

The fitness of the players is a major concern, three of the last four games the players have been second to nearly every ball and I think we can expect more of the same versus Leicester. We are relying on a great defensive performance I feel.

I'd drop Williams (if possible) and Fosu-Mensah for this. Williams was bullied physically and we looked better once AWB came on. Bailey has always looked excellent at Right back so hopefully he'll be fit and we can move AWB over to the left. (Pretty sure he's played there for us / palace a few times?).

Tactically is where we're falling down and it mainly comes down to penetration against teams that sit deep. Which every man and his dog knows. The fact is the team isn't setup to use width. We always try intricate passing down the middle in an already congested area. Rashford and Greenwood need to be instructed and worked on in training to huge the touchline more in these types of setups.

Our attacking threat would be minimal from the right if Bailey plays. Switching AWB to the right would be just as bad, we'd have 2 square pegs in round holes.

Yep it really is mental how shot we looked yesterday West Ham were first to everything and we looked exhausted of ideas.

The only hope is that we have still been scoring quality goals, 2 against Saints, 2 against Palace and last night’s goal was great too. The fact Leicester need to win the game may leave space behind for us.

Although we’ve played twice since Leicester last played...ridiculous

Shaw needs to play. We are so limited in attack when Williams is on. Based on Ole’s comments, we’re probably going with the same starting 11.

Leicester need to take the game to us if they want to qualify, not sit deep or try and stifle us out of the game... this will be their undoing. As bad as we've looked last couple of games, Chelsea were set-up perfectly to nullify us and West Ham played not to lose. Pretty sure this will be a better performance.

I have a feeling all three contenders for 4th are gonna be so stressed it will be two chaotic, hard fought but low quality draws (Chelsea-Wolves: 2-2 and us 1-1).

Would be such a weird and shitty way to earn 3th, but I'll take it!

Leicester supporters are saying the exact same thing

Yeah both teams have had good periods and bad so it really is coming down to a toss of the coin on the day, I can honestly see all outcomes as a possible at the moment. Nothing would surprise me at the moment. We know we can play well at times but so have Leicester. Its fingers crossed, squeaky bum time, and just hope it falls our way on the day. At least we do have the Europa League last chance saloon as a back up if it goes pear shaped Sunday.

IMO the semi -final original team selection and final result was writ large with our players last night, dispirited and tired, both mental issues.

Worst performance I've seen from Rashford for a long while, he started well but after ten-fifteen minutes, he had slowed to second gear and in the second half only tried once to go outside his man, every other move was either inside with the ball, or played the ball inside but watched on to see what would happen.
He wasn't on his own, what the feck was Pogba doing? OK he doesn't fancy a face full of ball, then duck out of the way, if you must but don't give away a penalty. From now on every team that gets a free kick from us in that position is going to be looking for Pogba in the wall.
Even Bruno who played one or two lovely balls, was off-key for most of the game.
Matic strode about manfully attempting to plug holes ,but you could see he was getting very irritated when West ham ploughed straight down our middle with no hint of opposition from our front men, time after time and he started giving away niggly fouls, at one point lucky not to be dismissed, but at least he showed some commitment.
Maguire was the best for me, kept his cool even when both DeGea and Lindelof persisted in playing him either 'hospital balls' or 'man on' balls within our penalty area... wonder what he said to them at half-time because it didn't happen in the second half.
    Thank goodness for Greenwood!

Playing for the draw on Sunday won't work, but what's the betting if we are not a goal up by half-time that's exactly what we will do?

Wolver’ampton, as Ole would say, will beat Chelsea anyway and all this would be irrelevant.

They will be missing Maddison, Chilwell and the Turkish CB. Three key players. All our players are fit bar Shaw maybe, but they have the benefit of a full week of recovery and training.

I'm confident we will get over the line. United never do things the easy way.

Even in 99 we left it to the last day to win the title and injury time to win the CL. In 2008 the title went down to the wire and we won the CL on pens. It's what we do.

One more win and we finish 3rd. A draw and we can't finish lower than 4th. After 25 games we were 14pts behind Leicester amazingly. We'd have snatched hands off to be in this position in early January.

    And Ricardo Pereira.

Dunno why everyone on here seems to miss Ricardo. He was our player of the season in 2018/2019 (even though everyone on here weirdly seems to believe Maguire was our best defender :D) and would probably have been our player of the season this season, had he not done his ACL. If I could have one player back for this game, it'd be Ricardo. Second best RB in the league.

So yeah, 4 starters out (5 if you include Albrighton, who has started quite a lot of games), with 3 of them being our back 4. Not only that but our back-up LB (Fuchs) is also out, so we are on our reserve back-up in Thomas.

Hard to see Ole making any changes to regular 11 bar Shaw not being fit. Will be interested to see if Ole is quicker with substitutions than normal.

Are they definitely out or do they have a chance of being fit for Sunday?

The only one who has a chance of being fit is Albrighton (and I love Marc, but let's face it, he's not a big game changer).

All of the others are 100% confirmed out.

We'll either be playing a back 4 of Thomas, Morgan, Evans, and James Justin, or a back 5 with Bennett included.

I've liked the look of Thomas from the few games I've seen of him, would you feel comfortable with selling Chilwell for big money and using him from now on?. It'll be a good battle between him and Greenwood that's for sure!

I am finding it hard to be optimistic about this game. Leicester have had bad results and they went to sleep defensively against Bournemouth. But they haven’t been playing as poorly as their results suggest. If we put another performance like we did against West Ham, they will pound us.

Leicester has little hopes of winning against us in an open game. AT the same time, a loss guarantees that they are out, but a draw gives them some chances. So perhaps they will decide to park the bus and pray for Wolves instead of high press.

Leicester can't afford to sit back like West Ham though . We tend to do well when teams attack us and leave space behind.

Does it mean that Mason Greenwood will be against this reserve back up Thomas? It sounds promising I would have thought..

Isn't that typical of José mourinho,Leicester should be worried because we are even more ruthless on the counter,I watched the game their RB looked pretty terrible, Rashford and Martial should rip him apart, they need the win so they have to play the game same way they played vs Spurs only worry would be if they scored early

Luke Shaw is a "major doubt for the Leicester game" according to MEN (pretty much means he won't make it) so we're stuck with Williams.

Regardless, I cannot see Leicester keeping out Greenwood, Martial, and Rashford with their injury-plagued defense. We should steam-roll them like most other clubs post-restart.

They would press like crazy and I am worried. Leicester has a better team than Southampton and they are home.

Just defend deep and hit them on counter as their CBs can't keep up with our pace. Would start James,McT and Fred

    DDG
    AWB-Lindelof-Maguire-Shaw
    Fred-McT-Pogba
    James-Martial-Rashford.

Bring Bruno,Matic and Mason in second half.

Not really. If Leicester come at us, then I'd back them to take the points. Southampton and Chelsea both did, and we couldn't get a hold of either game.

Which leicester players are out for this one?
    Soyuncu
    Maddison
    someone else?

Thomas looked good against Sheffield, but if I remember correctly, he made a couple of errors which led to two of Spurs goals.

If we have to sell one of our defenders, I'd rather it was Chilwell - I think he's the weakest out of the back 4. And for a 19 year old, Thomas has done pretty well, so there's definitely potential there. But I still think he might need a couple more seasons under his belt before he becomes first choice.

If clubs want to offer us stupid money, we could still sell Chilwell and get a stop-gap for a few years though, while Thomas learns the roll.
