Feyenoord Rotterdam - nicknamed De club aan de Maas (The Club on the Meuse) and De Trots van Zuid (The Pride of the South) - is a Dutch professional football club based in Rotterdam, playing in the Eredivisie. The club was founded as Wilhelmina in the pub De Vereeniging on 19 July 1908. Between 1908, 1910, 1911 and 1912, the club underwent a series of changes of name and team colors, becoming Hillesluise Football Club in 1909 and then RVV Celeritas. Upon earning promotion to the National football association in 1912, the club renamed to become SC Feijenoord, before changing that to SC Feyenoord in 1974, and Feyenoord Rotterdam in 1978, when SC Feyenoord became a separate amateur team. One of the most successful clubs in the Netherlands with Ajax and PSV, Feyenoord's most successful period in history was the 1960s and '70s when Coen Mouljin, Willem Van Hanegem and Ove Kidvall led the club to six league titles, two European trophies, an Intercontinental cup and thereby becoming the first Dutch club to win the European Cup and the Intercontinental Cup - mostly notably under the stewardship of Ernst Happel. Feyenoord has a longstanding rivalry with Amsterdam based club Ajax, as a clash between the two biggest cities in The Netherlands, which is called De Klassieker (The Classic); and they have played their home games at Stadion Feyenoord (De Kuip) since 1937.

Can't come soon enough this game.

    Rashford
    Martial Mata Henrik
    Morgan Herrera
    Rojo Smalls Jones Darm
    DdG

They should be interesting. Micky and Lingard looked rusty as feck today. Imagine what a full team of players with little to no game time will look like.

    DDG
    Darmian Smalling Bailly Rojo
    Schneiderlin Pogba
    Mata Rooney Martial
    Rashford

Finally.... 2 games a week means more chance to see the squad.. I want to see Morgan , Mikhi, TFM, Depay, Young and Rashford get more games.

Excited to see Memphis finally get a chance, as well as hopefully Schneiderlin, Carrick and Smalling. Rashford from the start will be nice, as well!

I'm torn on how we should approach this tournament. Half of me wants us to take it seriously, get a trophy under our belts to kick start the Jose era. The other wants me to just completely dismiss the whole thing and not get to involved in it.

However, I'd like to see a mixture of youth and experience on Thursday. This is my team..

David de Gea (I see no benefit of ever dropping a goalkeeper, ever)
    Matteo Darmian
    Eric Bailly
    Chris Smalling
    Luke Shaw
    Ander Herrera
Timothy Fosu-Mensah (would love, love, loveeee this)
    Juan Mata
    Henrikh Mkhitaryan
    Anthony Martial
    Marcus Rashford

Think we will see wholesale changes.

    DDG
    Darmian - Smalling - Jones - Rojo
    Carrick
    Fosu-Mensah - Morgan
    Mata - Rashford - Memphis

Need a good performance to forget about that miserable derby. I'd start Smalling for this, get him some game time and see if he can partner Bailly.

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Jones Rojo
    Herrera Schneiderlin
    Young Mata Memphis
    Rashford

Maybe Carrick in there somewhere. Should be a decent watch, important to get back to winning ways right away.

    De Gea
    Fosu-Mensah - Smalling - Jones/whoever - Darmian
    Herrera - Schneiderlin
    Mkhitaryan - Mata - Martial
    Rashford

    Team should be...

    ---------------Romero---------------
    Darmian--Smalling--Jones--Rojo
    --------Herrera-------Schneiderlin--------
    Lingard-----Mihkitarian-----Memphis
    ---------------Rashford---------------

Subs: Johnstone, Fosu-Mensah, Carrick, Mata, Martial, Young

Wouldn't start Rashford because he needs to start against Watford. Would put Martial as striker with Mata and Mkhitaryan supporting.

I did think after today players who weren't playing now may be in the first team plans but there's an argument to get them minutes before important games

Are Feyenoord good? Or is it a case of if we play even half - decently we should win?

This is going to be tricky. Against city, several of our players were dead on their feet (which is a worry in itself).

Clearly though, we need to give game time to Carrick, Smalling, Jones, Rojo, Darmian, Schneiderlin, Memphis and probably some others but at the moment, I don't think they have 90 minutes play between them this season.

It should basically be a whole new 11.

    De gea

    Young
    Smalling
    Jones
    Rojo

    schneiderlin
    Carrick

    Memphis
    Lingard

    Mata

    Rashford

want to see Schneiderlin and Pogba together next. Reckon Herrera did himself a world of favours after today's performance, was very calm and intelligent with his play

We'll play a secondary lineup this game. Can see it being a minimal win or a draw.

No need to go all out this early into the Europa League.

    DDG

    Darmian Smalling TFM Rojo

    Schneiderlin Carrick

    Mikhitariyan Mata Memphis

    Martial

Expect Rashford to start against Watford, so we won't see him on Thursday

Would be happy with this. Would like to see miki play 90 minutes though.

I know that it is 'only the Dutch league' but Feyenoord have won 4/4 and are top of their league.

If we play mostly non match-fit players then we are asking for trouble. Some tough choices for Jose.

Pogba should play this game - needs to get up to speed. Play Rashford and Martial, Mata, Herrera, Miki, Mike Smalling and maybe Bailly just to see how they do playing alongside each other?
Carrick should get a run out as well.

Mkhitaryan should start so he can get some confidence ffs
This. Discarding him totally because of the poor performance today won't help the situation.

We need a good match otherwise our fragile mentality from the past 3 seasons will start to return. Winning is habitual.

    deGea
    Darmian Smalling Jones Rojo
    Carrick Schneiderlin
    Young Mata Memphis

Think I'll have to wait for the presser to see where the team selection will go because I have no idea what he'll go for. TFM would be good though . Early kick off presumably? Tough week with today's result and then trips to Holland and Watford who'll be buzzing after today.

    Edit: 6pm ko.

Usually the press conference is just after they land in Rotterdam, so we will just have to see who travels on the plane to get a good idea.
