Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Should be one up. Mainoo at fault. For those on Höjlund’s back, he tee’d up a sitter for Kobbie.
Mainoo should probably have passed the flick and volley he tried as well, getting into decent areas when we're patient down that side though. Very LVG like but that's fine to build off.

Our "lack of creativity" begins with a lack of creative off-the-ball movement. We are effing static in the middle third sometimes.
Only Bruno and Eriksen offer any form of creativity but when you got wing backs that very rarely go forward and no pace or movement upfront, you can only create when attacking players make the right runs, we are abysmal as an attacking force right now and some of this is down to Amorim’s Selection and set up, and some is just down to a terrible squad of players!

Don't think people appreciate how hard it is to attack that deep a defense. They've been good. All teams struggle to break down that many men behind the ball.

We've been okay imo. I still don't understand what Eriksen offers these days except ensuring we can't press. And Malacia...is he left footed? He gets chances but never actually puts a ball in.

And Dalot...again he gets space and just goes backwards. Send in something low and hard and create some chaos.

A lot of the ball, but not doing much with it, having said that, Mainoo should have taken one of the two chances he had. They have a bit of a threat when they get the chance to go at us and force a mistake so you can see a sucker punch from them in there somewhere.

In full control but lacking a cutting edge around the box.
Collyer working hard and mainoo looks decent as a 10 though he missed our best chance
HOjlund need to stop battling defenders and find some space and just Play smarter

Basic things that every other team seem to do that we do not :-

    1. Have a triangle of players rotating around the side of an 18 yard box with someone always occupying the space between the FB and the CB

    2. Actually passing balls through the centre instead of endlessly circulating the ball side to side like a metronome

    3. Players that run off the forward and not stand 10 yards behind him waiting for a layoff

How hard is this? Why aren't they doing any of this? Why is the gap between the opposition CB and FB's always open?

    This is 101 stuff.

I know i am in minority here, but i think Collyer is not nearly good enough. His first touch is really loose and this walking football pace we are playing at so far is what he needs to be able to look decent in there. He is still young of course but i have doubts.

Shaw should be left of the back 3. He's born to play there. Buy some proper attacking wing backs. Shaw ain't the guy.

Neat and Tidy in possession and quite clearly in control of the game, they're sitting incredibly deep with 10 behind the ball so just need a bit more attacking threat and the goal will come. Think Amad will create a bit of chaos, Malacia for all his effort is completely useless in a game like this.
lacking that quality and it shows, but I don't hate everything I saw.

Not great to be honest. Not entirely shit either to be fair.

Plenty of control but let down by final third movement. If we were winning this, we would be talking about control rather than it being pretty dull.
You can see what we are trying to do but having to rely on Malacia on the left, who is pretty useless, and our focus is down our left side. Erickson has been pretty poor.

Championship player but he will be hyped of course.

We must be watching entirely different games, give the lad some credit he's been running the left channel tirelessly and not getting the ball, also set up what should've been the 1st goal and an assist for him

Eriksen's movement and passing in the final third helps to cause all sorts of problems. We don't need 11 men pressing full pelt all across the pitch. He's one our better technical players who can pull a rabbit out of the hat by providing a chance or being on the end of a move

We offer absolutely nothing going forwards, a rancid football team at the moment. We need to get Amad on to inject a bit of pace and attacking threat into the team, also think this game might suit Zirkzee so wouldn’t mind seeing him come on at some point as well.

Not bad. Most of possession and few good chances created (Mainoo should've scored, big chance). They had early chance (free kick) but think if it went in goal it would've been offside after VAR review.

Martinez our main creator atm probably.

Shaw should be left of the back 3. He's born to play there. Buy some proper attacking wing backs. Shaw ain't the guy.
Weird to say when Martinez has been our best player and the only creative player on the pitch really (bet he makes a big mistake now I’ve said that)

I like him but Malacia has been really poor. Dalot is tidy in the build up but rarely takes players on.

We've controlled the whole half. If Mainoo had scored, it'd be perfect. Our WBs giving us nothing in attack is a glaring weakness. But this is how games against organized defenses go. If we break them down once, it'll be much easier.

Shaw should be left of the back 3. He's born to play there. Buy some proper attacking wing backs. Shaw ain't the guy.
    Maz - Licha - Shaw

Hope to see sometime. Then the next step, though, would be what kind of players in front of them? But footballing wise I would love that as a team?
Cover more running, or go all in on technical ability?

All I know is Amad should be somewhere

Collyer is doing well. Still have doubts about his technical ability but physically he is a monster. Could become a Declan Rice type player if he can tighten up his ball playing.

Is it because we have no runners in the team though?

No, there are instances where we have had runners or where the pass is clear, but he just won't make the pass. He can do the hollywood ball, but the direct short pass into smart areas seems to be a problem

Watching the replays, what the hell was Malacia thinking making that back pass? Just clear it and get back in position to defend.

Would like to see Casemiro out there for Erkisen. If the game is this slow, he'll definitely create something, and he can head the ball.
