    Mata :wenger:

Has no ideas anymore. When you can't coach, players and starting lineup can only take you to a certain point

Looks like Digne will have the freedom of Goodison park. Hope I'll have any fingers left after this one. Go on lads, shut us all up!
He’s up against AWB, probably the best tackler in the league. That’s probably the one area of the pitch I’m not worried about.

Both have been poor. Bruno a little less crap. Why is that controversial? Do you think that a Bruno has been top class this season?
It's really difficult to look top class in a dysfunctional team.

Have feeling that if we lose today it will be curtains for Ole.

I'm really surprised that VDB isn't getting the game time. He's clearly classy on the ball and the movement is exactly what we need in the squad. It's a bit crazy how he isn't starting this game yet Mata is. On first impressions, VDB looks like the type of player Ole should like. Confident on the ball, technically great enough to shift it about, not afraid to move up the pitch, and he's already scored this season. It just doesn't make sense. Ole seems to be afraid to try different things and just seems to resort to "comfortable" players.

I don't understand the reticence to play Rashford on the right, Martial on the left and Cavani up top. You don't see a problem with Gnabry, Sterling, Sane, for example, playing on both sides of the attack and adjusting with some level of competence. Are we really saying that Rashford essentially isn't good enough (or tactically agile enough) to operate on any wing other than the left? I refuse to believe that Rashford is that inflexible. The same goes with Martial. Are we really saying that it's just bad luck that Martial and Rashford can't competently perform on the right? Of course they can. The reason they don't is shambolic coaching. Bet you any money in the world that both Rashford and Martial could tear it up on the right for Bayern, for example.

Ole and Bruno pushing the narrative that we where one of the best teams in England after beast PSG and RB is shameless. As many of us said this results mattered for nothing as long as we continued to drop points most games and play useless most games.

I’ll be watching this from behind the couch. Not at all confident.

Keep hearing this but how does it actually work? Do you have enough space behind the couch already or do you make the space by pushing the couch forward? Will you be putting a chair there or will you be kneeling through the game?

Love the message Everton have put up on their screen to Rashy from the Everton fans' forum, classy

Why won't he start DVB who is actually doing well...

I don't think Ole goes no matter what

I said it the other day, and I still think it now. It feels like a make or break day for him today. This team out there better not leave him down. As a result I'm unsurprised to see him leave out Pogba and I don't feel he thinks he can fully trust him. Same reason Van De Beek isn't in the team (rightly or wrongly).

Glad to see Martial back in again after his suspension. Mata has had some good games this season but I understand people's concern at him and Wan Bissaka on thsy right side. Feels like we won't have enough attacking wide threat from they side and that it made be once again lop-sided.

He should just try VdB on the wing. Can't be any worse than Mata or James, and if VdB is truly bad then he won't have to keep answering questions about why he's on the bench

Here's the thing. Everton have had a bad couple of games too, so, the odds are also that Everton are due a win, like us. We could get obliterated today; conversely, we could show up and do them over too.

Fred left back as well maybe

He is top class. He's been a bit shy of that this season, poor is having a laugh.

    Solskjaer to BT Sport
"You have to deliver because you're in the best position, you've got the best possible shirt over your head and you must go out there and enjoy. That's how I felt when I played and how I feel now when I lead them out. I just want them to express their talent. We want a confident team working together.
"Thursday morning was a hard one. Friday, we can see the boys getting ready for this one. Of course it's a quick turnaround but we can talk about that later on."
    On formation:
"Well you that diamond worked well against Leipzig. You don't have to delve too far back to find good results. We didn't blow anyone away against Arsenal but that was a tight game. Every game lives it's own life. The first goal is massive in any game of football so hopefully today we can start brightly."
    On defence issues:
"Decision-making. They are human beings and sometimes you do make mistakes. That first goal against Istanbul. I don't know what to say about that one because it's one of the worst goals I've conceded as a manager. When you make crucial mistakes, it costs you."

Harsh on Mata putting him in the same ball park as James. He’s played well for the most part this season.

Possibly, with the international break. That being said, when he's on the brink, he usually pulls out a win from somewhere.

Will probably be another Brighton game, where Everton dominate and miss a million chances, while we sneak an undeserved win via a penalty.

Repeated use of Mata seems to be sending a message re Sancho. Because for all his strengths he has glaring weaknesses that counteract them entirely. I’m stunned he still lines up for Man Utd. Would he make the Everton team?

Wonder if Ole is sending a message to Woodward with the persistence with Mata on the RW. Particularly considering he didn't rate him too much last season

Pogba really needs to have a good look at himself in the mirror. He carries this tag of our most talented player, but he can't get into the team whenever we're under pressure because he simply can't be trusted. If he just made a decision to stay switched on and work harder for the team, he'd elevate us so much, however for some reason he justs coasts.

Cavani isn’t fit and starting him risks real injury. Did you see his most recent cameo? He looked like he was struggling even to keep his balance at times.

Defensive lineup. Stay deep and wait. Everything depends on Everton. If they go "lets crush United" we will counter them. If they keep cool head, we are fecked
