    Yeah, that is true. More convinced with Martial’s recent performances than Rooney’s or Rashford’s though. Have a strong feeling that Zlatan is on the bench tonight. 4 matches in 10 days is pretty damn much for anyone.
    He should be rested but I don't think Mourinho can risk leaving him out.

    So I take it Valencia is injured, for how long?

    Didn't even know this.

    Has Zaha turned into Robben over night? Feel like I'm missing something with everyone shitting bricks in choosing a LB to cope with him.

    went with Mata-Rooney-Lingard-Zlatan as the front 4. Rooney has looked better recently, Mata arguably our best player this season. I do worry about pace though, would like to see Rashford though he hasn't been great lately, hopefully he can come off the bench and do well!

    I just had a lovely day with my father who I've probably only seen a handful of times the past decade, and the only football shirt I noticed were kids wearing United ones, so I'm going to take that as a sign that we'll have a good game tonight.

    His apparently been playing well recently, and I think after Darmian's howler of a game this weekend, everyone is on edge and that has made Zaha has suddenly evolve into the World Class category.

    We've never been known to shy away from the odd case of hysteria and over reactions on here.

    That being said, with a half decent LB I wouldn't be worried, but the case of Darmian having shit anticipation and slow reactions vs a winger with amongst the most take-ons and dribbles in the league has me slightly worried. The way we defend headers I really don't want to see too many crosses into our box.

    Must win. Think we'll go on a run if we get 3 points here. Can see it being a scrappy 1-1 though unfortunately.

    Right back at you, I had the exact same thought processes. Thinking back to how SAF used to play Jones at RB, but as you said I don't think Mou will do that.
    I think Jones played at RB and CB with Blackburn and as you say Fergie switched him (and Smalling) between the two when he was still in charge. I doubt we would see Jones at RB in the near future while he still getting back to full fitness after all his injuries, if at all. He has played very well at CB recently alongside Rojo.
    N.B. My above comments re Phil Jones, if he plays at RB tonight, that will show just how much I know about football !!!

    I think we'll go Darmian RB, Blind LB. Blind has dealt against pace before. He's clever enough to handle Zaha.

    This match will 100% be delayed. The trains are a mess. All Southern trains are cancelled and half the Thameslink too. That rules out almost every station in the vicinity of Selhurst Park.

    I can't stress enough on just how important this game and the next 5-6 games are for us. We are starting to get some results now, just beat a top four rival and in general look like a solid team that is creating chances.

    On the other hand, our rivals are beginning to lose some points, look shaky at the back, managers are getting into fights with the media etc.

    Momentum is everything and games are going to come fast. We need to pick up 3 points and close the gap.

    Yeah, the home games v Boro and Sunderland should be a relatively easy 6 points. Hopefully we can boost our GD in those games. Tonight and WBA away are games I think we can win. If we do win both, we'll probably be right back in the mix for top 4.

    My predicted lineup:

    Rashford==Zlatan==Lingard

    =======Mata========

    ====Pogba=Herrera====

    Darmian=Rojo=Jones=Young

    I agree but Mourinho seems to have soured on Blind at the moment.
    Yes, and I can't figure out why Blind got out of favor. To the point Mourinho doesn't even see him as a center-back option. A bit incredible, if you ask me.

    We've got to do the business here, no excuses. If we do it'll be our first back-to-back wins in the league since August, which tells it's own story.

    Agreed on both posts. That’s the issue though. I’m sure Zlatan can play tonight and Saturday, after which we have a 9-day break (from matches). But at some point his (incredibly fit) body might give in. Perhaps Martial is fit for Saturday and he could start up front.

    In the bolded scenario he’d get a 20-minute rest, which doesn’t help too much. What about if we start with say Rashford and if it’s 0-0 or 0-1 (to Palace) after the 1st half, we sub in the Zlatan? Plays only 45mins and saves us again. I know it doesn’t work like that and the start of every match is hugely important. But as been said, he needs the rest soon, he even himself said that the ”Thu-Sun is killing us, especially me.” So I don’t think he’d have any personal issues coming off. And don’t really care either, we’ve got a manager to make those decisions.
    I think we're already seeing Ibrahimović performing regularly as a tired player, I mean, the amount of failed or underpowered shots he had? Still a great player and fundamental to our link up attacking game, though.

    I'll be surprised if we win with no Mkhitaryan or Martial.

    We are to some extent, absolutely. And I don’t have an issue with that as he’s contributing immensely to our attack. Just a bit afraid that playing too much results in an injury. He has got a good injury record, but we’re risking it.

    :lol:

    figured as much

    If Mourinho was really worried with Zaha he could start Young at the leftwing.

    I hope we don't draw this but I can see a draw happening easily enough. Palace will be happy with a draw and we might be back to not being able to fully break teams down.

    I hope we've turned the corner but I'm still not 100% sure of the result. We should be winning this game with our squad but we are still too reliant on a small number of players to bail us out.

    I'm excited for the games again though and patchy results won't change that. I enjoy watching us again.
