Chelsea Football Club (also known as The Blues and The Pensioners) are a professional football club based in Fulham, London. Chelsea were founded on 10 March 1905 at The Rising Sun pub (now The Butcher's Hook) after Gus Mears had previously acquired the Stamford Bridge athletics stadium with the aim of turning it into a football ground. Since there was already a team named Fulham in the borough, the name of the adjacent borough, the Metropolitan Borough of Chelsea, was settled on.

Chelsea's first major title success came in the form of the League Cup with the appointment of former Arsenal player, Ted Drake, who also led Chelsea to the their first ever League title, enabling them to compete in the European Cup, but after objections from The Football League and the FA, Chelsea were persuaded to withdraw from the competition before it started - allowing Matt Busby's Manchester United to start their illustrious adventure with the competition.

After decades of being non-competitors, Chelsea returned to the domestic title fore in 2003 under new owner Roman Abramovich, who fueled an unprecedented spending spree - starting in the mid 2000s. Since the takeover, Chelsea have won 1 Champions League title, 4 Premier League titles, 4 FA Cup titles, 1 Europa League title, and 3 League Cup titles, among others. Chelsea's most prominent rivalries include local clubs Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur, title rivals Manchester United, Liverpool and Leeds United. Chelsea play their home games at Stamford Bridge - which had been their home for over a century.

Genuinely got no idea on the team if Mourinho decides to go 3 at the back again.

    De Gea

    Bailly Smalling Rojo
    Valencia Herrera Pogba Blind
    Mkhitaryan
    Rashford Martial/Mata?

Can't see us getting anything from this. Priority for us this season, after winning the EFL Cup, should be Europa league first, league 2nd, and then fa cup a distant third. We won this last season, and are playing away to chelsea where we've always been awful, let alone now where they are simply a better side then us. Not impossible, but probably not happening. Anyway, guessing/hoping we'll put out:

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Rojo Blind
    Herrera Carrick Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Rashford Martial
Bailly - Smalling didn't work out too well here last time so lets change it.

Just can't see a victory here, as much as I'd love one. We're overdue a win at the bridge but it's unlikely to come minus our top goal scorer and after us playing in Russia tonight while they'll be fresh. 2-1.

They will play us of the park. Better in every position bar Rb and Gk and actually try to win football matches.

Went for 0-0 with us going through in extra time or on penalties.

Just have a feeling we will scrape through. Just a hunch.

    4-2-3-1

De Gea; Valenica, Smalling, Rojo, Young; Carrick, Herrera; Mkhitaryan, Pogba, Martial; Rashford.

Did you go 3 at the back today in preparation for us? Bless.
I'm loving how confident Chelsea fans are about this game.

Picturing us defending for 90+ mins before Rojo scores from a corner and Jose runs down the touchline...

Reckon we'll lose this, but more worried about getting through Rostov at OT plus our next league game.

Having said all of that 3-1 to us:D

Hard to look past a Chelsea victory, but I really think if we turn up on the day we have a good chance to win. Going 1-2.

I'm actually not particularly confidant, I think we'll win but anything could happen and I would not be shocked.

Seeing how terrified some United fans seem to be is funny though.

    Am not terrified!
Just too distracted by Europa and trying to get some wins in the bloody league:(

Anyway, you're likely going to win so make sure you go all the way as I don't want Spurs or City to win.

Really got no idea. DanNistelrooy must be Mourinho himself to get the points he's got this season in the lineups game. Really hard to predict what team he'll go with, which is strange when his Chelsea sides were pretty much constant.

A few teams have done well matching our formation (particularly Spurs). Seems risky to me but lots of managers seem to copy the idea.

I'm not sure if we quite have the personnel for it though. Left wing back is especially a concern

You guys massively overrate this Chelsea team. We really don't create much at all. We're reliant on counter attacks & individual brilliance.

    It won't be a rout.

With the pressure firmly off I see an unlikely win coming our way, it's just the way we've been this season, plus not a chance Jose throws this one away.

I wouldn't say you being a lot better than us is overrating Chelsea. You're not the best team in the world but you are good, and we are average. I expect a comfortable victory for Chelsea.

Not confident in the slightest. This is the end of the line for us in this competition.

    DDG
    Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Shaw
    Carrick, Herrera, Pogba
    Mkhitaryan, Martial
    Rashford

SUBS - Fellaini (Carrick), Mata (Mkitaryan), Rooney (Martial)

    Chelsea 3 - 0 Man United

This would be the best game for us to lose in given that we already have 1 cup in the bag. That said, we're Man Utd and we love to make life hard for ourselves so...

    1-2.
    Rashford and Mata.

We looked tired second half of today's game and Bournemouth so I'm expecting muchos rotation.

De Gea, Tony, Bailly, Shaw, Mata, Pogba, Rashford, Tony, Micky maybe Rooney and one of the other 3 CB's.

    Sorted ah Perry.

It will sound sacrilegious for a United fan, but I don't mind losing this game.

Now we've already won a cup, our single minded focus should be getting into the Champions league next year: this game is proving a distraction.

Agreed. But Jose will want to revenge after that hard defeat in the league game.
But as you said I too couldn't care less if we go out.Wouldn't want us to get tonked nor I think we will.

We beat teams we're expected to but are mediocre against the decent sides.

It's a very workmanlike & efficient team reliant 2 players. We're not Brazil 1970 like people on here are portraying.

Not a terrible thing to be underdogs for once.

We can do without the distraction of an FA Cup semi final against and Arsenal, Spurs or City (and then a final against one of them) so rather go out now tbh and concentrate on the league (lol) and the Europa League

Its going to be a tight match. Chelsea to come through it maybe 1-0 or 2-1.
