There are no official international rules for what is a 5-3-2 and a 4-4-2. Some people call 4-3-3 a 4-5-1. Formations are fluid. Consensus is important for defining what 'formation' is being played. I repeat, formations are always fluid. The 3-5-2 and the managers ego were not the problem. The players make the formation. Carrick just moves to where the space is, but concensus is probably that we played 4-4-2 tonight. Most top teams play an assymmetrical custom made formation (think of Real Madrid last year with Di Maria's special role and Ronaldo moving centrally when defending). This match is a good example of why all the 3-5-2 talks and bullshit about the managers ego were laughable.

Under LVG we have played the exact same Way every fecking game we've played 352. Our performances have become worse and worse and and despite this our manager is too stubborn to admit that his tactics are wrong.

Well i look at it a lil bit differently, because even with guardiola, lvg, mourinho, anceotti combined coming up with a brilliant master tactic....

If your players cannot manage to control, pass or shoot a ball correctly its always going to fail.

Jones, carrick, valencia, dm etc passes that just go straight to the opponent or hoofs forward going nowhere near our own players got nothing to do with tactics but with the lack of skill and concentration amongst many players.
