Burnley Football Club (nicknamed The Clarets), is a professional association football club based in Burnley, Lancashire. On 18 May 1882, The club was founded on On 18 May 1882, when Burnley Rovers Football Club decided to shift their allegiance from rugby union to football. Playing in various green or blue and white kits for their first few years, the club played their first competitive game in October 1882 against Astley Bridge in the Lancashire Challenge Cup, that game ending in an 8–0 defeat. In the early months of 1883 the club moved to Turf Moor and remain there, only their Lancashire rivals Preston North End having occupied the same ground continuously for longer. Burnley first appeared in the FA Cup in 1885–86 but were ignominiously beaten 11–0 when eligibility restrictions meant that their reserve side had to be fielded against Darwen Old Wanderers. On 13 October 1886, Turf Moor became the first ground to be visited by a member of a (British) Royal Family. When it was decided to found the Football League for the 1888–89 season, Burnley were among the 12 founders of that competition.

The club enjoyed its Golden days as one of the most progressive clubs around in the 1950s to the early 1970s under the reign of chairman Bob Lord. They were one of the first teams to build a training ground next to the stadium, while every other team still trained in their own stadium, and the Turf Moor club used innovative training methods. Among other things, this resulted in an excellent youth team. Nearly all members of the 1959–60 Division 1 winning team had played in the Burnley youth team. Lord also pioneered the short-lived 'Football Specials'. The Clarets were also the first to let a manager decide about the transfer policy. After the 1959–60 title winning season finished, Burnley went to the United States to participate in the inaugural international football tournament in North-America, the International Soccer League. The following season Burnley played in European competition for the first time. Burnley's biggest traditional rivals are Blackburn Rovers and Bolton Wanderers with the match between Burnley and Blackburn sometimes called The Cotton Mills Derby. Burnley play their home games at Turf Moor.

    Jesus Christ already:lol:

    Let me mourn.

I think the worry Burnley aren't playing particularly well considering they have Europa league to tend to as well.

I would like to say we can beat Burnley 2 - 1. Clean sheet? Hell no.

    DDG

    Valencia Smalliing....

feck it, we'll be shit anyway, why bother

Burnley have conceded 10 in their last 3 games.

    Burnley 1-0 United.

If you could pick who to play next it would be Burnley or West Ham

If we win it will be a torturous 1-0. I think we will drop points and will do the same against Watford next game after.

    De Gea
    Dalot Smalling Jones Shaw
    Rashford Herrera Pereira Martial
    Sanchez Lingard
Idk really. Not what I'm expecting, more a wish, but not thrilled with this anyway. Bring back 442, drop the overrated donkeys that are pogba and lukaku. Could argue for Sanchez, but hes pretty wank so if we are to lose, I'd rather lose with our youngsters and pace on the pitch.

If we play like today we will definately score 4. sad part is we might concede the same amount.

the return of the 5-0 scoreline prediction already three games in :lol:

You just know if your form is bad and you need a confidence boost playing United ticks all those boxes.

With our confidence shot to shit, Burnley giving 100% I can’t see us getting more than a draw. It doesn’t matter who we play, CL or league 2 we concede a lot of chances and get very little of our own to hit the target.

Really don’t care what team we pick but this is a must win.

Is Dalot fit? I’d throw him in if he is. Not what Jose will pick but after the embarrassments vs Brighton and Spurs...

    De Gea
    Dalot - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
    Pogba - Matic
    Andreas - Lingard - Rashford
    Martial

    ----------------De Gea
    Valencia - Bailly - Smalling - Shaw
    ----------------Matic
    ----------Herrera--Pogba
    ---------------Lingard
    -----------Lukaku---Alexis

    They’re going to be battered

Huge pressure for this game, hopefully the players (Pogba and Luakaku especially) can turn up. Not sure there's much that can be done about the state of our defence. Probably just plug Smalling and Bailly in there, sit Matic in front of them and hope for the best.

    De Gea
    Dalot - Bailly - Smalling - Shaw
    Periera - Scott - Lingard
    Rashford - Martial - Chong

    That should be the lineup.

    1-0 Burnley.

If Joe Hart is in goal we'll be fine. He's already managed to destroy Burnleys good defensive record from last season.

Doesn't matter because Lukaku will shoot off the target anyway.

Probably a good game for us to bounce back tbh against a Burnley team that's struggling. We're away too so there's going to be slightly less pressure on the players.

Don't have much hope anyway. Think I entered "don't give a feck" mood of LVG last season.

We might scrape a draw here, as they've looked dog shit so far this season. The optimist in me says 1-1. I would not be surprised to see us lose this either though.

We won't win, that is for sure.

Is Dalot fit? I’d throw him in if he is. Not what Jose will pick but after the embarrassments vs Brighton and Spurs...

    De Gea
    Dalot - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
    Pogba - Matic
    Andreas - Lingard - Rashford
    Martial

Part of the problem though isnt it. He completely drops a player to not even make the bench then expects him to start and be on top form the next game.

How can Martial not even be worthy of a place on the sub bench then start the next game 6 days later? It contradicts everything.

For those putting Martial up front, here's a thought. You could have conceived a baby the day Martial last scored for us & it would be born around about now.:drool::drool:

Can we get a Saturday game? FFS!

I hope we have the same set-up as yesterday and try to improve on it. There is no point playing as mavericks one weekend to revert back to type the next. Let's see if we can better our performance.

    De Gea
    Bailly Smalling Matic
    Valencia Pogba Fred Shaw
    Lingard Lukaku Sanchez

DDG, Valencia, Smalling, Bailly, Shaw, Pogba, Matic, Fred, Lingard, Martial, Lukaku

    That would be my team.

I liked what I saw of in the first half, thought we were playing better than usual. Obviously the 2nd half collapse was pathetic and Mourinho needs an emphatic win to lift the mood and ease the pressure.

    DDG
    Valencia-Bailly-Smalling-Shaw
    ------------------Ander-----------------
    --------Fred-----------------Pogba-----
    Lingard------------------------Sanchez
    -------------------Lukaku----------------

    1-2

    Sanchez and Fred

Three defeats in a row is unthinkable. But Burnley will smell blood in the water.

Even so, United to win 1-0
