Brentford Football Club (nicknamed The Bees) is a professional football club based in Brentford, West London, England. The club was founded in October 1889, as the local sportsmen's latest attempt to form a permanent football or rugby club in the town. By 1896, Brentford had joined the London League, progressing to the Southern League in 1898 and entering the Football League in 1920. Upon the appointment of Harry Curtis as manager in 1926 came the beginning of Brentford's most successful period, with promotions in 1933 and 1935 taking the club into the top-flight of English football for the first time in its history. Three consecutive top-six finishes in the First Division established Brentford as one of the top clubs in England, but a decline began in 1938 which led to the club's relegation back to the Third Division South by 1954.

Recently, after two failed playoff campaigns in six Championship seasons, Brentford were promoted into the Premier League after victory in the 2021 Championship play-off Final (reaching the highest level of the English football pyramid for the first time since the 1946–47 season). Brentford's main rivals are Fulham and Queens Park Rangers. The club have a long standing rivalry with Fulham. In the past this fixture has been marred by crowd violence. Brentford's rivalry with Queens Park Rangers intensified in 1967, when Rangers failed in an attempted takeover of the Bees, a move which, had it succeeded, would have seen Rangers move into Griffin Park and Brentford quit the Football League. Brentford play their home games at the Brentford Community Stadium.

A lot more confident now than I was before the match today. Our win over Liverpool was massive, and will hopefully revitalise our season towards its business end.

The whole atmosphere around the side will be different assuming key players stay fit.

Reguilon, Henry, Mee and Hendry all injured/suspended. Their defence is as lacking as ours has been for most of the season.

They've lost 15 of their last 20 games.

We should have a much fitter squad ready to go.

    1-0 Brentford.

Seems Licha not too far away if he's with the Argentina squad? Mount to get some minutes as well.

    Onana
    Dalot Varane Maguire Wan-Bissaka
    Mainoo McTominay
    Garnacho Fernandes Rashford
    Hojlund

Brentford have been awful in recent weeks... so I fully expect us to make them look like City!

Shouldn't Martinez be back? And will Casemiro be back?

If we want to go anywhere in the table, there really are no excuses with this one, but we usually find a way to make away games difficult no matter what. The team picks itself really.

    Onana
    Dalot - Lindelof - Varane - Wan-Bissaka
    Casemiro - Mainoo
    Garnacho - Bruno - Rashford
    Højlund

If Casemiro is still out, it would have to be McTominay. Even with Martinez back, I'd sub him on towards the end to get some minutes, rather than starting him. If we can field this team, I'd actually be relatively confident going in.

I'd want Wan Bissaka on the right and Dalot on the left. I accepted AWB on the left because of Salah for the Liverpool game, but his left foot is very weak for the attack, so I'd prefer Dalot on the left. Really hope Hojlund will be alright and will be rested a bit on international stage, because with him we're a different beast.

I mean our injury crisis was bad enough now I see we have players out I didn't even know we signed - Hendry? ;)

It's been awful this season regarding injuries and ours is a crisis where you don't have international players we've spent 10s of millions of pounds on to fill in the gaps :(

Reguilon, Henry, Hickey, Mee and potentially Pinnock out in defence.

Dasilva and Norgaard will be missing from midfield and probably Schade out up top as well.

Only bright spot from the weekend was Mbuemo coming back from injury.

Should be fun a week on Saturday :)

My bad, I was confusing Hickey with someone, lord only knows who!

It would be just like us to lose this after that incredible win/high.

Hopefully we can show a bit of consistency and get the win, would be nice to win down there after what happened last year. They're in bad form too.

Surely Martial’s 10 weeks should be up by now?

Im worried that so much adrenalin and mental energy was used in the Liverpool game that we will be a bit flat against Brentford.
It's in 12 days. I reckon we should be fit as a fiddle by then. Barring any intl injuries :nervous:

Watched them twice recently against Man City away and but for a slip they could well have earned a 0-0 draw in that match. Also watched their match away to Arsenal, that match was looking like 1-1 draw but Arsenal grabbed a late winner.

I was his biggest critic before but there is no way you can drop Maguire after his performance against Liverpool

I don’t think either Varane and Lindelof played themselves out of the line-up, but you could argue for Maguire, because he has a bit of extra physicality and might handle Toney better.

If Casemiro is still out, I‘d bring in McTominay. Antony, Amad first to come on.

It will depend on the international break and the players fit, but we should go with the best team possible for this one.

    ---------------------------------------------------Onana--------------------------------------------------
    Dalot---------------------------Varane--------------------Lisandro----------Wan Bissaka
    ---------------------------------Casemiro/Scott--------Mainoo--------------------------------
    Garnacho-----------------------------------Bruno--------------------------------------Rashford
    -------------------------------------------------Hojlund---------------------------------------------------

Shame we have the internationals as the squad would have been going in to this full of confidence.

If Martinez is injured then I'd like to see:

    ------------------------------Onana--------------------------
    Dalot------------Varane-------Maguire----------AWB
    -----------------Casemiro----------Mainoo--------------
    Garnacho----------------Bruno-------------------Rashford
    ------------------------------Hojlund------------------------

We need a pretty much perfect run up now if we want top 4-5.

Amad is suspended for this one

I think Antony has to start this one. I feel we’ll start seeing the player we thought we had. His enthusiasm and passion cannot be faulted and his contributions are (very) slowly starting to show.

Isn't Amad banned after his red card?

Hope we don't rush Martinez back if he's not fully ready. Save him for the cup...

    Onana
    Dalot Maguire Varane Wan Bissaka
    Mainoo mctominay Bruno
    Garnacho Hojlund Rashford
Picks itself really. Fullbacks can swap either way as they've shown, if anything wan Bissaka showed a good understanding with Rashford and Dalot has been excellent on the right. Maguire or Lindelof fine too. .
Hope for no new injuries... But definitely time to follow up a big moment with a good performance.

If, as I expect, we revert back to our regular form in this match after the Liverpool game, that shows that it's a matter of laziness or not trying from the players.
