McT doing what he does best. Shite control, lose ball, and get carded with a reckless tackle.

The fact that Mctominay and Fred are still our only midfielders despite how limited they are is terrible.

What have our board and management been doing for the last 5 years ?

    Feck me.

Madrid have Modric Casemiro and Kroos and spent 100 odd mill on their midfield.

ETH please wake up and plays this line up.

    Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Malacia

    Martinez, Eriksen, Iqbal

    Garnacho, Ronaldo and Sancho

malacia has been excellent so far.

tricky choice whether to start him against liverpool but in current form i’d fancy him better than shaw against salah

Malacia is the only one to come out of this game with any credit.

Eriksens second half has been good I think (under the circumstances of course). Has popped up in good positions in the box several times, and has created a few dangerous situations from the left side. Looks like he gives a shit aswell. Waved Bruno away from taking a corner at one point, and keeps on guiding his teammates. At least, he hasn't gone into hiding.

Problem with McGuire is we don’t have an available alternative so we are hogtied. Unfortunately I can’t see a way out of playing him whoever the opposition is. This is just how bad we have got.

We have 7 CB ffs. He’s the common denominator with any partner. It’s a joke he hasn’t been dropped yet.

Have you seen the game? 3 out of the 4 goals had to do with everything but height
    Agreed. This place.
Suddenly all we care about is how tall our players are. Pity McT doesnt have 9 brothers and we we could just play all them. Is that tall enough for you?
Forget the team was literally still in shock when the 3rd goal went in.
When a player scores a header in a crowded box on the freaking 1 yard line, I would like to give the goalie a bit of blame but that wont fit the narrative since we signed Martinez.
I hadnt heard much about him before he signed so no great emotion for him but bloody hell lets give the guy a chance here.

Agreed. The result appears worse than it is because of this. I’d rather get our brainfarts and 100% xG for the opposition out now.
It's unbelievable irritating. I blame the goalkeeper personally although I understand why people are reluctant - we give those chances away he's not necessarily expecting to save them all, but you don't need everything they put between the sticks to be a goal against you. And that seems to be a recurring theme. Unpopular opinion but Henderson would be a far far better option for us under Ten Hag and results this bad simply woudln't happen.

There's truth in that, if there's a process.

The process begins by removing some of these players from the squad and injecting some talented, hungrier players. Otherwise this is just another loss. We're normalising these sorts of games a bit too much and they're not shocking anymore. This loss is only shocking because ETH is here. We had performances like this last season. The players are the ones who need replacing.

Thinking Ten Hag is going to be our F de Boer. Winning the Dutch league does not mean you're good enough for the PL. Unless he starts adapting really quick to not having a team head and shoulders above the rest of the league (Ajax) and starts playing that way, the only direction we are heading is down. Ignoring Rangnick, wasting a whole transfer window chasing FdJ, trying to sign his whole Ajax team, calling up his old over-the-hill mate Arnautovic - all red flags hinting that this might just be one step too high for him.

Not forgetting our team is almost completely made up of a bunch of weak wasters but we've all beaten that horse beyond death for the past 5 years now.

starting to think we’ve left it a bit too late to mount a comeback.
