    I already have.

Well as it stands we are out of the Capital one cup, and the CL. By tomorrow we could be 5th, with a whole host of injuries too. In addition we have been relying on grinding out results but recently we cannot even do that.

It's not too dissimilar a situation from this time last year, but LVG has had time and money in between. How would you rationalise this?

Yeah cause no team has done that this season...
Only palace, sthmapton and Liverpool have beat chelsea away from what I can recall. Add Bournemouth as well. What I'm tying to say is that maybe Bournemouth are not the cannon fodder opposition we all thouht they were when the fixture list came out. But I still understand the anger of united fans.

Results are finally matching performances, no win in five now. I think the worst thing is that it's not surprising in the slightest, the players aren't up for the fight in matches like this. Bournemouth knew what they had to do and could've had more goals than they did.

I'm seriously doubting our ability to get top four now. The right players aren't in place and the right manager isn't either. It seems like we're back at square one.

    Who would've thought,
It's the way the Premier league is these days. The top teams aint great at all, and the rest aren't as sh!t as usual.

If we'd have been playing pretty much anyone else in the league I'd have been really worried, rather than just fairly worried with that lineup.
I think it could have beena 4 or 5-0 v a lot of teams today

If you can't beat or at least draw the worst defense in the league even with a makeshift defense yourself, you have no business in this league. I mean from LVG's standpoint. He is out of hist depth, but we found that far too late.

Yes but we were playing kids

I'm trying not to kneejerk, but I suppose it's less down to the awkwardness of today's appalling lineup, where we couldn't play most of our spine, let alone most of our, erm...sides to the spine.

It's the Europe flop. It's the zero entertainment, it's the squeezing out dull results, and tonnes of 0-0s.

Sick of it, the footy is meant to be our joy for our soulless sh!Thouse lives. Not even more pain!

when even Lingard went off, who himself isn't ready to be a Premier league starter, and an even younger, smaller less experienced player had to come on, I did fear the worst.

And here we get to the crux of it, unless you think Van Gaal is the anti christ you're a fanboi. For what it's worth I feel he needs to go at the end of the season, he hasn't taken us forward and there are better options out there. I don't however think that every single thing he says and does is idiocy.

    Why is that then?

I know what you're trying to say, and it's fair in some positions, but not defence.

We have about 6 key defenders out. You can't stockpile more than that. Any team would be dipping into their youth then

Other teams never seem to have these mass defensive crises though. We have one every single season

The LVG Out gang will have a field day, then again they will not use perspective will they?

LVG made horrible substitutions (he always has, even the games we win he makes brain fart subs, what's new?)

    • The 1st goal shouldn't have gone in, especially with the quality of goalkeeping we have between the posts, and time on the clock. Do we blame the manager for this one?
    • Martial SHOULD have scored his 1 on 1. He is a youngster, and those do happen I guess, so really can't take a dig at him that much. Managers fault?
    • Fellaini scored, and missed (got saved) around 3 or 4 on target. A proper striker would have scored 2 of those minimum. He was in the right positions, got his shots off, just sadly he isn't clinical enough to be playing around that area with our dire attack. Do we blame LvG on the misses themselves?
    • Lingard getting injured was a blow, as we lost 1 of our most creative attackers within the 1st half. Another injury blow. Do we blame as well?
The second half was an absolute disaster, from CBJ just dropping off TOTALLY, to not knowing where Perreira should even be playing, to the Memphis knock (which clearly affected his game, he looked crap after), McNair is probably the slowest player I have ever seen in my entire life! Not just at United, like EVER!

LvG subbing Fellaini off is the first mistake. again goes back to his brain fart subs!
LvG subbing Powell in, another mistake. Looked like we went for 4-1-3-1-1, moving away from our signature 2 CDM pivot.
LvG subbing in Jones, when the team should be going for the win. Young SHOULD have been brought in, unless he has a serious knock (which we don't know). The Jones sub was the biggest fart ever!

Still behind the team cos we need to get the players back, Bastian & Rooney being out I see a lack of leadership & drive totally against Norwich & Stoke! We MUST get 6 pts, MUST!

Neither do I. He has done good things for this club IMO his best highlight will be bringing Martial in, but I feel he has nothing left to offer us. In my opinion too ideally he should go at the end, however I worry that it's going to get worse instead of better in the 2nd half of the season.

Yes but we were playing kids
The only ones who haven't played a lot for us before are Varela and CBJ. It isn't like we didn't have a seasoned player to play at FB on either side or come on instead of Pereira. I don't know what Young has done but he should have played in one of those 3 positions tonight.
When he refuses to play a regular first team players then he can't blame kids.

With half our squad to come back we can't get any worse than we have been in the last few games.

Face it. We're just another mediocre Premier League side. That's a FACT.

    Care to explain?

I can't see how another manager with so many defensive injuries would prevent either of their goals. We virtually played an U-21 side tonight.

Whilst I agree with this, United being United should have won! I'm not part of the LVG out party by the way.

Bournemouth, like Leicester last season, are a club from the Championship, who are defensively naive and play attacking football based mostly on hope and a drive to make a name for themselves on that 1 fixture.

The guys saying this is proof LvG has reached his ceiling at this club, surely are being disingenuous forgeting how we have played some rather good football (refer to Spurs last season) when everything works, dismantling the progress made (based on games we don't make errors like the one de Gea made, or Wolfsburg's 3rd goal).

    1. We need to recover our players and not get injuries
    2. January we need to sign at least 3 strikers, or sign 2 and recall a Januzaj (even though he isn't being prolific as Chicha at Bayer)

The season is far from over, every team, bar Leicester is actually very inconsistent. City are edging wins in injury time, Arsenal are Arsenal.

The fans need to behind the team because everyone else outside United wants to see us fail, even if you want to see LvG fail, at least get behind the team until the decision is made AFTER this season finishes. Till then you cannot surely be calling for a manager to be fired today, do you think the new manager will suddenly find a fit squad next weekend?

Thing is obviously the injuries played a big part today but once again substitutions was poor. What does Powell offer at the moment? Particularly ahead of fellaini?

It's so baffling that for someone who loves possession so much he just concedes it to stick two players up top and hopes for a long pass.

Not a big fan of young but not sure why he can't get any time at the moment.

The way we performed in that second half the only way we could have scored would have been a Fellini header from set piece. Ridiculous substitution.

I think we all agree with this, whether you support LvG or not, the sub was stupid, with hindsight he also should surely realize it now. We need to work moving forward not looking back on what if's.

I support Man United just like I support AC Milan or Real Madrid when they lose.

January we need 3 strikers in addition to Rooney & Martial, 2 CB's (even if they are not world class, but we need a centre back that at least has speed and doesn't make brain fart defensive decisions like Blind does week in and out)

They can recall Januzaj, sign 2 strikers (1 to be Rooney's eventual filler in AM/ST position, and another strong, pure poacher). They don't even have to break bank TBH

    Spot on.

Of course it would be a completely different story had we been getting these results with a full strength team. But with Darmian, Smalling, Shaw, Rojo, Valencia, Jones (until the final 5 minutes today), Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin, Herrera, Rooney and today Lingard and McNair out - how can we expect first team results without our first team?

Has anyone seen our back line recently?

I'm convinced the results will fall into play once our absentees start returning.

I'm afraid we're turning into a short-termist club, like the likes of City, Madrid and Chelsea.

Still think I was too pessimistic too soon?

Yeah course I do. You've got to look forward to the games, it's kind of the ethos of any fan. How would you go on supporting a mid table team?

If he has lost the dressing room, there is no chance it will get better, no matter who plays.
If the players aren't playing for him that suggests, as I said earlier, that this is not something he can turn around. If its true they are not giving their all, because they dislike Van Gaal's 'process' and his 'philosophy', then no matter how much time he has he will fail. The only alternative would be to replace the entire squad, which is something we've pretty much already done for him once before. How many times are we going to have to recycle players until we get a squad that will respond well to his madness? Given he's only contracted for another 18 months, it seems to me that the smart thing to do would be to fire Van Gaal and get someone else in to manage the players.
I wouldn't be surprised if he had lost the dressing for quite some time already.
Bayern fans would know much better than I do but as I remember it, Uli Hoeneß had a rant about LvG's relationship to his players in the presser after he had sacked LvG. He rejected the idea that players were backing LvG and stressed that football must be fun, and that players and club had lost this under LvG.

The worrying thing for United now is whether this game coming up against Norwich at Old trafford, confidence is low so will they manage to beat a norwich side which is a bit awkward to play against, you never know what you'll get from them. It's a must win match against Norwich for LVG imo.

Success isn't the driving factor behind looking forward to match day, though.

There's plenty more to being a football club fan, and it's far more complicated than success or entertainment alone.

It's supporting a football team, why does it need to be complicated? If you're genuinely not excited at all before a game I think it's time to give up.

Post game all bets are off. I'm back to the newbies now to have a right moan.
