I hope Lingard is not on the wing he doesn't have the pace or physicality for it. He shouldn't even be starting tbh.

Hope he is - we need to stretch Barcelona and have am outlet. Hitting them narrow is a picnic for their centre backs, especially with no Lukaku. Theyl brush Martial and Rashford aside like air.

Phil Jones is a brilliant centreback but a shit rightback. I think we'll see Lingard stay unusually wide in order to compensate.

I quite like that fact that Martial is up top (if that is the case) for this one, as he is really good at coming short and linking play. It's something we're not great at when both Lukaku and Rashford play as a two.

It might not be a popular opinion, but I'd have picked Lukaku to start over Martial.

Me too. Hope Ole is right in this, I really do but on paper it doesn't fill me with confidence.

Not only are we starting Jesse Lingard away to Barcelona, but we're starting an out of form Jesse Lingard away to Barcelona. Hard to think of many alternatives though.

Jones has been pretty solid in recent game but fans will be fans.
At centre back. He's most likely playing right back/wing back today against Barcelona of all teams. Who the feck wouldn't be worried at the sight of that? Alternatively, we could just play Dalot.

Yeah me neither, I think we'd need a bit of luck to go through irregardless of the lineup though to be fair to Ole.

Not sure what are our expectations from this game but it surely doesn't look like winning it.

Maybe a moment of madness from a Barcelona player. Drawing easy fouls I hope.

Honestly, we can't put out a starting XI that would fill me with confidence in the Camp Nou.

If the ball comes to him out wide he's just gonna lose it, he doesn't have the pace either. I just don't see how it's gonna work, he looked out of his depth when we played him their against Real Madrid in the super cup.

It better not be 3 atb because whoever is on the right of the 3 isn't going to get the cover they need from Lingard. Then again, a back 4 with Jones at RB and Young LB doesn't sound any better. God our fullback situation is dire. Happy with the rest of the XI though.

I'd sooner have put Darmian on Messi. Although Young has pocketed Salah before now so maybe he's got a surprise massive performance for us.

If it came centrally in a congested zone he has more of a chance of losing it than from a wide area of the pitch.

Off the ball he can at least drag the defenders into wide areas and create pockets for Pogba to run into. Playing centrally makes it far harder for him and the likes of Pogba behind him to find space.

    De Gea
    Lindelof Smalling Jones
    Lingard McTominay Fred Young
    Pogba
    Rashford Martial

It better be this!!! Lindelof left and Jones right though. So we can hide Smalling the horrible footballer than he is. If its Jones at right back we're really really fecked.

Yeah me neither, I think we'd need a bit of luck to go through irregardless of the lineup though to be fair to Ole.

Barcelona have not lost a home game in the Champiopns league since 2013. So anyone that thinks not playing Young will make much difference, I dont know what to tell ya.

So it's either Jones at RB or Lingard as RWB, that's an odd choice either way, and I'm surprised Martial is starting over Lukaku.

Real Betis beat Barcelona 4-3 at Nou Camp using a 3412. No two games are the same, but they seem to struggle against teams that deploy three at the back.

Had we been more ruthless in the final third last week, we could have probably scored a couple.

    Hoping we see a 3412.

At least Young as a left back means we should see him put in at least 1 or 2 decent crosses. whether he hangs with Messi is another story.

Dalot should've been picked over Young for sure. Young hasn't been selected on merit for over a month. He's been dogshit.

I don't understand this young shouldn't start but dalot (anyone see west ham game or any other game when he's on his own at RB) should argument here, both are shit at defending and rightly will get ripped to pieces tonight, regardless of who starts.

I'd be angry if we had a better option with young still starting but at the moment, does it make a difference?

This is what leads me to believe its three at the back. If not, then I totally agree with you.
