I know some are trying to claim this is a defensive shape or setup but I prefer this to anything we played under Ten Hag. There's nothing quite like knowing you're not going to be 1-0 down in the first 10 minutes that makes a game enjoyable.

The problem is, until we are settled and good again, players like this can't get the mentoring and nurturing from established players that they used to.
Someone like Collyer coming in 20, 15, 10 (even 6ish) years ago is getting a mentor like:
Robson, Ince, Keane, Scholes, Carrick, Fletcher, (Matic) all doing their bit and guiding him along to refine his game under the best possible real time tutelage.
It's a big issue for all our youngsters these days. In the past, they would have most likely had a world class mentor whose bar they had to take in and try to match the bare minimum standards of.
