Fulham Football Club (also known as The Cottagers or The Whites), is a professional association football club based in Fulham, West London, England. Fulham were formed in 1879 as Fulham St Andrew's Church Sunday School F.C., founded by worshipers (mostly adept at cricket) at the Church of England on Star Road, West Kensington (St Andrew's, Fulham Fields). Fulham's mother church still stands today with a plaque commemorating the team's foundation. They won the West London Amateur Cup in 1887 and, having shortened the name from Fulham Excelsior to its present form in 1888, they then won the West London League in 1893 at the first attempt.

Fulham started playing at their current ground at Craven Cottage in 1896, their first game against now defunct rivals Minerva. Fulham are one of the oldest established clubs in southern England currently playing professional football, though there are many non-league sides like Kent side Cray Wanderers who are several decades older. The club gained professional status on 12 December 1898, the same year that they were admitted into the Southern League's Second Division. They were the second club from London to turn professional, following Arsenal, then named Royal Arsenal 1891.

After suffering relegation to The Championship in 2013, Fulham have been on a road to recovery and were promoted to the Premier League on 26 May 2018, by winning 1–0 in the 2018 EFL Championship play-off Final against Aston Villa. Fulham fans consider their main rivals to be Chelsea, followed by Queens Park Rangers. They also have rivalries with other London clubs, including Brentford and Crystal Palace.

Expecting a behind closed doors friendly in the next couple of days to get Zirkzee some minutes, but team will most likely be:

    Onana

    Dalot de Ligt Martinez Mazraoui
    Casemiro Mainoo
    Amad Mount Rashford
    Bruno
    Probably Garnacho in for Amad.

Looks about right, worrying we immediately have to start 2 new players.

Last time United started a Premier League season in Old Trafford on Friday night? Be interesting to see will any of the new signing will start or be introduced.

    Rashford Zirkzee Amad
    Bruno Casemiro Mainoo
    Mazraoui Martinez Maguire Dalot
    Onana

Typically don't toss in new signings but we have no other full backs. Possibly de ligt in for Maguire.

A Friday game most likely rules out De Ligt and Mazraoui.

Need to hear from EtH what is going on with Zirkzee too.

From the team that started against City, I'd say only Garnacho would push himself into the starting eleven.

I don't think he'll start with two new defenders. Other than that, pretty much that team.

Hope Shaw is closer to playing than we fear . Then add Garnacho in.

We need to actually sign the 2 new defenders first, will be very optimistic to think they'll be in and can start.

How about Garnacho on one wing and Amad the other, with Rashford on the bench?

Not enough goals in that team. We still haven’t addressed that this window
Finances clearly aren't amazing at United, and we did sign a striker. We have so many holes in this squad.

I agree, but I think it's something that will hopefully be addressed next summer.

Orrr Rasmus has his breakthrough season and it's not a big problem (fingers crossed).

Dalot - De Ligt - Martinez - Mazraoui
    Casemiro - Mainoo
    Amad - Bruno - Garnacho
    Zirkzee

This is the right match for a McTominay hat trick.

Is there a behind closed doors friendly before this game? Our new signings could use some minutes.

De Ligt may not start this one especially if Maguires fit, he’s not played a minute of football since 6th June so I can’t imagine Erik will throw him in. I think we may see Rashford through the middle (given Zirkzee didn’t get a minute yesterday)

This is the way to go for me. Hoping that Zirkzee can get 25-30 mins too if we're winning

Don't think he will throw both new players in. I Think Maguire will start over de ligt but mazraoui to start purely as we have noone else.

Otherwise same team that started the charity shield

I seriously don't know why some pundits are so terrified of this game. Sure, we have couple serious holes in our squad but it is fecking Fulham, ffs, not prime City, Arsenal, or Liverpool. We should have more than enough to beat them, it we don't down the tools

I could see both De Ligt and Mazraoui starting. Mazraoui should be match fit, De Ligt is more the one who might need to be slowly introduced. However, they have been playing together so could see then starting together if Mazraoui is playing on the right.

We can play Dalot on the right and Harry Amas as the left FB. Not ideal, but I am certain Harry can hold his own against Fulham. I would prefer that over throwing a just-signed fullback into a game

Yeah, if we do complete the three transfers (Inc. AWB leaving) - and have no new injuries to contend with - then I'd probably expect (and prefer) a line up like that for the reasons you give.

Mazraoui probably has to start sooner than ideal for a new player to a new league, as FB issues dictate that. But provided we have two CB's fit like Maguire and Martinez, then no need to rush De Ligt into a start so soon and we can benefit for once from the luxury of being able to ease him in more. Though we'll probably have about two more CB injuries by then and end up having to start him anyway!

    Dalot - Maguire - Martinez - Amass
    Casimero - Mainoo

AWB out. De Ligt has only had few minutes during pre season. Mazroui might come in from the bench. With thr high amount of minutes Amass has received I could see ETH give him a chance here unless Shaw is ready. The front 6 would most likely be the same as against City with Zirkwee and Garnacho coming in from the bench

Not necessarily what I'd pick, but I reckon this is most likely

Was on the Friday eve last season to I believe. The embarrassing game Vs wolves
That was a Monday night. I prefer Friday night games as it's actually part of the weekend rather than coming back to work on a Monday without having seen your team play.

We didn't have a LB in the matchday squad, or a single defender on the bench, and yet Amass was the one left out of it rather than trust him in a semi-competive / classed as a glorified friendly match.

I'd be very surprised if we buy the two senior defenders that's expected, Mazraoui a FB, and yet ETH trusts 17 year old Amass in a fully competitive PL instead. The perfect game to give him a senior appearances was yesterday - with no other available defenders and it being less of an importance fixture than the start of the PL - but he was omitted from the squad altogether. So I'd be very surprised to see him in it on Friday, unless we have a plethora of even more defensive injuries.
