Manchester City Football Club (nicknamed City, The Citizens, and The Sky Blues), are a professional football club based in Manchester, England. City were founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), before being renamed as Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887, and finally Manchester City in 1894 - and the origins can be traced back to members of St. Mark's Church of England, West Gorton — who founded the football club that would become known as Manchester City, for largely humanitarian purposes. Two church wardens sought to curb local gang violence and alcoholism by instituting new activities for local men, whilst high unemployment plagued East Manchester, specifically Gorton. All men were welcome to join, regardless of religion.

The team's first recorded match occurred on 13 November 1880, and City gained their first honors by winning the Second Division in 1899 — with it came promotion to the highest level in English football, the First Division. In the seasons following the FA Cup triumph of 1904, the club was dogged by allegations of financial irregularities, culminating in the suspension of seventeen players in 1904, including captain Billy Meredith, who subsequently moved across town to Manchester United. Almost half a century later later, a City team inspired by a tactical system known as the Revie Plan reached consecutive FA Cup finals again, in 1955 and 1956; just as in the 1930s, they lost the first one, to Newcastle United, and won the second. The club continued to challenge for honors throughout the 1970s, finishing one point behind the league champions on two occasions and reaching the final of the 1974 League Cup.

Prior to the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the club had enjoyed moderate levels of success through their history — however, since the start of the current decade, City have been buoyed by the signings of Sergio Agüero, Yaya Touré, David Silva, Vincent Kompany — and have emerged as perpetual title contenders, winning the league 7 times in 11 years and repeatedly finishing in the Top 3. City play their homes games at the Etihad Stadium, and their biggest rivals are neighbors and opponents for the game, Manchester United.

At least this is on Sunday night (for me). Can enjoy the rest of the weekend first.

Best we can hope for is Pep shows mercy and doesn't make our GD situation much worse than it is. Score 2-3, then pass the ball around.

We're going to get battered aren't we

This is not going to be fun. At least the inevitable loss will mean Liverpool won't run away with it.

    -----------------------Onana
    Lindelof----Varane---Evans----Dalot
    --------------------Casemiro
    Antony----Mainoo---McTominay---Garnacho
    ---------------------Rashford

Harass them in the middle, look to set off Garnacho and Rashford. Ole-ball.

I'll believe we can pull off a win until Haaland scores. Probably in minute 7 or something

Honestly never been more convinced of a hammering in a Derby than this.

    It could be really ugly.

    Easy win, 1:3 United.

Also, every time Caf goes into full Doom and gloom mode, predicting 10:0 trashing, total opposite happens.

    0-3 manutd
    rashford hat trick
    like I believe that...

Any kind of result here would be the greatest exercise in avoiding a bumming since Withnail and I.

McTominay has to play upfront. Rashford can’t hold the ball up, it just comes back at us constantly.

Very worried about the LB situation, Amrabat is painful.

Assuming there’s no changes to availability…

    Onana
    Dalot - Evans - Varane - Lindelof
    Casemiro - Mainoo
    Garnacho - Bruno - Rashford
    McTominay

They usually don't batter us in goals like Liverpool does.

They go up 2-0 and take the piss for the rest of the game.
Ye they keep the ball a lot once they score a few goals. The scousers just keep attacking you

We’ve got an okay record away to City…. But yeah not looking good.

City will also have difficult fixtures after us as well. Liverpool away and Newcastle in the FA Cup

I think we're just missing too many key outlets to be able to muster enough attacks. Ten Hag should pack out that midfield with Bruno Cas Mainoo and McT all at once in my view. Maybe it's a game for Rashford (lol) to just use his pace with Garnacho, I think thats our only route to hurt them. That or a set piece.

Not looking forward to this.... just hope Erik can find 11 warriors ready to do battle and not roll over like kittens.

Can only hope we catch them on a bad day, as if we defend like we have today we’re going to get our cheeks parted and multiple fists inserted

If they get another ridiculous penalty to open the scoring, it’ll be a bloodbath. I reckon we can sit in and frustrate them though.

Might have got a result with Shaw,Martinez and Hollund starting but with all out it will be a big surprise if its not at least a two goal margin defeat.

Not expecting anything from this but hopefully better officiating than the first one when John Stones escaped a red card despite denying Hojlund a clear gpalscoring oppurtunity.

    The officials are:-

Predicting a draw - does nothing for us, strengthens Liverpool's grip on the Premier League trophy; seems about right for this bastard season.

Except last season where they'd scored six, and two different players had scored hat-tricks, by the 50th minute or something. I was fearing double figures at that point.

Not looking forward to this game one bit.

    They’ll toy with us.

Only hope we have is if they have a player sent off early on. Even that won’t guarantee us a win.
