West Ham United Football Club (nicknamed The Irons, The Hammers, and The Academy of Football) are a professional football club based in Upton Park, East London. They were founded in 1895 by foreman and local league referee Dave Taylor and owner Arnold Hills as Thames Ironworks F.C. - a strictly amateur football club with a team featuring a number of works employees. During the summer of 1898, Thames Ironworks F.C. became a professional outfit for the first time, to match their new status as members of the Southern League Second Division, and were promoted to the First Division at the first attempt following a decision to enlarge the top division of the Southern League to 19 teams. After growing disputes over the running and financing of the club in June 1900, Thames Ironworks F.C. resigned from the Southern League and were officially wound up. On 5 July 1900 they reformed under the new name of West Ham United and accepted an offer of the Southern League place left vacant by Thames Ironworks.

West Ham's most successful period started with the appointment of Ron Greenwood in 1961 - leading to FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners' Cup titles - with youth team graduates Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters at the forefront. Their nickname The Academy of Football pays homage to the club's proud tradition in English football for playing entertaining, attacking football - and the success of the club in coaching future greats - which includes that aforementioned trio of World Cup winners, Trevor Brooking, Paul Ince, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Jermaine Defoe and Michael Carrick. West Ham's most prominent rivals are local clubs Millwall (Dockers derby - one of the longest-standing and most bitter in English football), Chelsea (East versus West London rivalry), and Tottenham Hotspur (East versus North London derby). They played their home games at the now demolished Boleyn Ground (often referred to as Upton Park) from 1904 to 2016, and moved to the London Olympic Stadium at the start of the 2016/ 2017 League season.

Isn’t this it about time McTominay had a bloody rest.

Go with same team as today but with Bruno back at 10 and AwB for Dalot.

    We might nick another point.

I’m sure though Erik will go back to one single DM and be found out again.

    2-0 West Ham.

It would be unlike Utd to follow up a good (albeit defensively) performance with another good one.

Expect dogshit attack so it's another 1-0 win or a draw as best result.

    Onana

    AWB
    Evans
    Varane
    Shaw

    Amrabat
    Mainoo

    Antony
    Bruno
    Garnacho

    Højlund

    There’s you’re team!

This will be a really hard game.

I imagine Bruno comes back into the side, probably for Mainoo. Not what I’d do personally though.

Mainoo has to start this and I also think west ham will give us a tougher game than Liverpool did today and be less wasteful upfront but also we will get a bit more of the play too which we have to take advantage of.

I agree but he won’t drop Bruno or McTominay.

If we're well up for it we could snatch a point again, but I could definitely see them winning.

Very different game than what we watched today as it will be West Ham sitting back and looking to exploit Man United on the counter. A good Man United defensive display with no individual errors will be required again.

I think you’re right, he will pick Bruno and Mct and West Ham will be praying he does as we are so easy to play against.

Hopefully we can score. I miss seeing goals go in. Just the 2 goals vs Chelsea in the past 5 games. Is Casemiro close to coming in yet? Mainoo is the only midfielder I trust playing deep.

    Onana
    Wan Bissaka Varane Evans Shaw
    Mainoo McTominay
    Antony Bruno Garnacho
    Rashford

Take Hojlund out for a bit, guys bee struggling and low on confidence, getting beat up a bit every game. Use him as an impact sub for a few games, get Rashfords pace in up top.

Would be good to have some players back. Maybe Maguire or Lindelof to partner Varane.

This will be a tough game. Need to show more in attack this time

Would be absolutely typical of us to drop points here after a good draw at Anfield.

Another tough ground. Will drop points. Play like today. Don't try to dominate the game .

if he reverts back to Amrabat - Bruno - McTominay then our issues are back

It seems ridiculous to say it, but Mainoo really has to start this. He's the only midfielder we've got that can help gain some control over the midfield, which we sorely need in games.

Did either McTominay or Amrabat improve in the second half today? I thought they were both so poor (not unwilling like Rashford and Martial, just terrible) that I can't imagine it makes sense to play either next weekend. Isn't Casemiro back in full training? I know he takes ages to get going but Amrabat just can't run. That being said, we are playing a team with a set piece specialist and they've loads of height and great headers in there, so maybe Scott needs to play.

We have a league cup quarter final against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday so it's a tight turnaround for us.

Had a 'mare against Fulham, but we've won seven and drawn one of the eight games around that.

You will still be priced as favourites by bookmakers and betting exchanges. We're pretty dire and cannot score goals. Score and you probably win. We ground out a point yesterday, but were quite fortunate to do so and we'd lose 80% of the time performing like that.

    What I'd like to see:

    Onana
    AWB - Evans - Varane - Shaw
    Mainoo - Amrabat
    Antony - Bruno - Rashford
    Højlund

I think Garnacho needs a little break, and then he can come on from the bench instead. I'm not super thrilled about playing Amrabat, but I still think he's a better option next to Mainoo than McTominay.

It will be a difficult game, just like all other games for us.

    Onana
    AWB Evans Shaw Reguilon
    Amrabat

    McTominay Bruno
    Antony Hojlund Rashford
What are the chances we go back to default setup? Seems to me like ETH is a big fan of McTominay (as a player/personality?) and will push for it once more.

I think its now clear that 2 out of Mainoo, Amrabat, Casemiro need to be starting.

Dropping Varane? I thought he was our best player yesterday.

Agree with this lineup. Then Garnacho and McTominay on for 2nd half if we need goals.

It's just a joke aimed at Ten Hag that he has his "idea" and whatever worked yesterday and is against this idea will be revoked.

This "left footed CB" is the most ridiculous as we don't even play from the back anyway.

Is Mount likely to be fit? If so, Rashford, Bruno and Mount in for Garnacho, McT and Antony hopefully.

Realistically, I’m expecting to see Bruno in for Mainoo as the only change.

    Ah yeah, I get ya.

West Ham play away at Anfield in a big cup quarter final on Wednesday night and have to play us on Saturday morning after having a week off?
That’s woeful from everyone involved. TNT Sport just don’t give a feck

Absolutely no idea how this will pan out, let alone a scoreline. No idea even which United will turn up (or not at all)...

I reckon a win here would be a massive result - they've been turning teams over at home and at times scoring for fun. But if we defend as we did at Anfield, we've got a chance. I feel Hojilund will get a goal soon...

Delighted to not have a meaningless midweek game

Danish papers are writing, that Eriksen is training again. Is he perhaps ready for a cameo?

Would be fine with ETH choosing the same lineup for this one. Expect Bruno to be back but he needs to stick with two holding players.

AWB in for Dalot. I'd put Bruno in for McT, but would expect ETH to bring in Bruno for Mainoo. Also I reckon ETH may throw in Rashford instead of Garnacho, but can't imagine he'd make too many other changes.
