Real Betis Balompié, known as Real Betis or just Betis (and nicknamed Los Verdiblancos (The Green-and-Whites)), is a Spanish professional football club based in Seville in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Betis' city rivals Sevilla FC were the first club in Sevilla, founded in October 1905, while a second club, España Balompié were established in September 1907. "Balompié" translates literally as "football", as opposed to the most commonly adopted anglicised version, "fútbol". Balompié was founded by students from the local Polytechnic Academy, and were in operation for one year before being officially recognised (in 1909) as Sevilla Balompié; despite this, 1907 remains the official foundation date of the club. In 1914, they merged with Sevilla Balompié. The club received its royal patronage in the same year.

During the Spanish Second Republic (1931–1939), royal patronage of all organisations was nullified, and thus the club was known as Betis Balompié until after the Spanish Civil War when it would revert to the full name. The club reached the Copa del Presidente de la República final for the first time on 21 June 1931, when it lost 3–1 to Athletic Bilbao in Madrid.[9] Betis marked their 25th anniversary year by winning their first Segunda División title in 1932, finishing two points ahead of Oviedo FC, thus becoming the first club from Andalusia to play in La Liga. Under the guidance of Irish coach Patrick O'Connell on 28 April 1935 Betis won the La Liga, to date their only top division title. Real Betis also won the Copa del Rey in 1977, 2005 and 2022.

Given the club's tumultuous history and many relegations, its motto is ¡Viva el Betis manque (aunque) pierda! ("Long live Betis even if they lose!"). Betis have a long-standing rivalry with city neighbours Sevilla FC. The two contest the El derbi Sevillano, and have met 114 times in official competition, with Sevilla holding a 45% win ratio over Betis (31%). The club plays its home games at Estadio Benito Villamarín in the south of the city with a 60,720-seat capacity.

At least Casemiro will be in the team we know that.

Pellistri, sancho, Elanga in the forward roles? Expect Mctominay and Malacia to get minutes, Maguire too.

    De Gea
    Wan Bissaka Maguire Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro Fred
    Pellistri Bruno Sancho
    Weghorst

This game absolutely must be used as an opportunity to rest a few guys.

    De Gea

    Malacia
    Lindelof
    Maguire
    Dalot

    Casemiro
    Fred
    McTominay

    Elanga
    Weghorst
    Pellistri

If we can't preserve a 3 goal lead with that lot we don't have any business going through.

Well Casemiro will certainly start. Looks like Garnacho is injured, would liked to have seen him start so touch wood. Sancho is so disappointing, especially when more central, would like to see him wide right and have Antony on bench.

Hopefully Sabitzer is back as we need him to kick on, can’t be seeing the McTominay Fred partnership again. Rest Bruno, Shaw, Antony and Rashford for Cup game.

De Gea, Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia, Casemiro, Fred, Sabitzer, Garnacho (if by chance ok) Weghorst, Sancho

    1-1

Can see us getting turned over in this game, just hope we can muster something at the other end but I don't think 4-1 is a safe first leg lead.

Barcelona couldn't turn us over at the Nou Camp but you think Betis is gonna 4-0 us?

I would like Bruno, Rashford, Shaw and Varane to be on the bench. Start with solid team and see how we are at half time. Can be a banana skin but needs a solid performance. Can’t consider it straightforward. Need to concentrate on cup games now

Would be really nice to have Mainoo partnered with Casemiro in this game. Pellistri also a must on the right wing.

Garnacho left the ground on crutches today, with the protective boot. It might be precautionary and not too bad since he played on, but last time I thought this it was on Eriksen...

Hopefully Sabitzer is back for a little more quality on the ball in midfield. I don't see as much rotation from the beginning as most of us would like. Maybe one of the full backs, maybe Maguire over Varane, probably Fred back in for one of the forwards etc.

Use the squad. No De Gea, Shaw, Varane, Martinez, Bruno, Rashford. If we get dumped out (which would be amazing considering we have a healthy 3 goal lead), then so be it.

Absolutely no reason not to change the defence totally, bar De Gea.

Casemiro will only be playing in this cup for a while, so he's in.
Weigy only played 40mins so he's in.
Sancho probably needs a start too.

Rashford 100% on the bench as disaster recovery mode.

Let’s give some players a much needed rest. No matter what team is our we should not let a 3 goal lead slip. Still competing in the FA cup. And we should be through in this already.

I know ten Hag isn't much of one for rotation but I hope he switches four or five around. I'd like to see Pellistri given a start here

I just hope ETH rotates heavily for Betis and gives some people a rest.

Rest people. We will pay for it dearly if we don't...it's getting obvious now that the likes of Bruno and Rashford aren't fot enough to play 90 mins.
    I would play:
    DDG
    Dalot-Maguire-VNL-Malacia
    ---------Casemiro-Fred------------
    Antony----Sancho----Garnacho
    --------------Weghorst---------------
I think ETH will definitely start Rashford and Bruno though.

A lot of people starting Maguire, that's just asking for trouble.

DDG-Malacia, Maguire, Lindelof, Dalot-Casemiro, Fred, Sancho-Garnacho, Wout, Pellistri.

Start Pellistri in this one and bring on Antony for the last 15 an see how it works out.

I think he'll play a full strength team.

At the most I'm expecting 1/2 changes. Varane will be one of them given his track record with muscle injuries.

ETH just doesn't rotate. I don't know why fans expect him to anymore. It will be minimal changes at most.

He did for the West Ham game, although we ended up putting the rotated players on second half anyway

    Give Pellistri his first start.

    Weghorst would appreciate him also.

Give Rashford the night off 100%

    Sancho/Garnaco(if fit) from the left.

    Casemiro and McTom

    Maguire and Lindelof

Even if some of you may think of this as a dead rubber, a loss or draw can really derail any burgeoning momentum. I’d rather we field 2-3 first team players just to get us into a winning rhythm. Casemiro will definitely feature - that we know at least. I think Maguire should start on the bench. He is a liability

If we had a strong squad then I'll be in favour of a few key players rested but we dont. If Rashford is rested, we have no goal threat. If Bruno is rested, we lack in creativity. If Casemiro is rested, defensive stability is lessoned.

I think our biggest goal threat, outside of Rashford, in recent months has been....Fred

This is one of those games where I don't give a shit about the performance or even the result, as long as we don't lose by more than 2. The only thing that matters is that we're in the draw for the quarter-finals.

    DDG
    AWB Lindelof Martinez Malacia
    Casemiro Fred Sabitzer
    Pellistri Weghorst Sacho

Shaw, Bruno and Rashford shouldnt get many minutes here, but i'd be nervous starting maguire.

Friendship ended with PL. Now EL is my best friend
I was tempted to agree and then I remembered the penalty against us when the ball hit Martinez's shin (also resulting in a random yellow)

Can't we just play a match without referees? If the managers disagree on a decision, they can have a quick fight
