Liverpool Football Club (nicknamed The Reds) are an English professional football club based in Liverpool, England. Liverpool were originally founded in 1892 as "Everton F.C. and Athletic Grounds Ltd" (Everton Athletic for short), before finalizing on the name Liverpool Football Club and Athletic Grounds Ltd. after a dispute between the Everton FC board and John Houlding, the owner of Everton's former premise at Anfield Road.

Liverpool's forays into competitive football started when they joined the Lancashire League. After winning the league title in their first season, Liverpool were accepted into the Football League for the 1893-94 season, following the resignations of Accrington and Bootle. Liverpool reached its first FA Cup Final in 1914, losing 1–0 to Burnley. It won consecutive League championships in 1922 and 1923, but did not win another trophy until the 1946–47 season, when the club won the First Division for a fifth time under the control of ex-West Ham Utd centre half George Kay.

One of the most successful and storied clubs in the history of European football, Liverpool have won 19 English league titles, 6 European Cups, 7 FA Cups, and 8 League Cups, peaking in the 1970s and 1980s, first under the enigmatic Bill Shankly, and then his Boot Room successors. Liverpool have two fierce historic rivals: crosstown club Everton FC (matches between them are termed The Merseyside Derby), and Manchester United (stemming from the success of both teams as well as the cities' competition in the Industrial Revolution of the 19th century).

Anything can happen in these games. Certainly not as confident as some on here!

I think Ole will rotate heavily again from tonights lineup, so Liverpool should have no complaints. Can they do what Leicester did and take advantage?

Lets end their miserable season for them.

Need to get something on Thursday now to shore up 2nd place. Point at least against Liverpool, a win in front of the fans at home to Fulham, and Ole can use the Wolves match however he likes to tune us up for the final.

Liverpool quite comfortable favourites at the bookies and exchanges. They were for the original match too. Will be real tough.

If they have a back-line of Kabak and Philips we really should be scoring. But we'll have one of Bailly and Tuanzebe so they'll feel the same.

They have to go for it, there will be lots of space and goals. I think a reverse of the FA Cup game, 2-3 Liverpool.

Need to complete the job on thursday, today was only half done. Team should be rested and ready to fire except for Mason. Think James will start if fit on Thursday.

Itll be Pogba left, Rashford right. Mason saved for a sub appearance

Wont be tough. Theyre 6th for a reason. Tonight would have been harder for us

    Team should be...

    -----------------Henderson-----------------
    AWB---Bailly---Lindelof---Shaw
    -----McTominay-----Fred-----
    Rashford--Fernandes--Pogba
    -------------------Cavani-------------------

Subs: De Gea, Tuanzebe, Telles, Williams, Mata, Matic, VDB, Greenwood, Amad

They're gonna have fun with that defence, would take a draw now which sucks as I really want a league win over them but with no Maguire :nervous:

Cant see it. Our strengths are at FB which should nullify them going forward. They havent the attack down the middle to get at our CBs.

Let's not forget that Liverpool must absolutely win this match. Otherwise, Europe League will wait for them... so I expect that their players will be extremely nervous. Especially if we don't concede in the first 20 minutes. A counter-attacking United... and an in-form Cavani against Phillips and Williams... bloodfest, I reckon.

    Henderson
    Wan Bissaka Bailly Lindelof Shaw
    Mctominay Fred
    Rashford Bruno Pogba
    Cavani
Hope we batter them. Last important game before the cup final. Could all but end their top 4 hopes.

Be nice to end their hopes of champions league football but the main objective is avoiding any more injuries before the Cup final. I can imagine Bailly and Tuanzebe may share a half each. Rashford, Cavani unlikely to play more than an hour I'd reckon

The game is 2 weeks away from a cup final, there won't be any resting for this one. Fulham and Wolves sure, but not this game. It'll be the last full strength/go for it game until then though.

He’ll be rotating in our strongest 11 bar Harry, who played 2 days ago. So what advantage is to be had? I don’t see anyone who played today starting against pool, maybe possibly Mason, but still doubt that.

This won't be easy. Maguire is a big loss. I genuinely don't know who Ole picks from Bailly and Tuanzebe. Neither of them looked calm tonight. Combine them with Fred and McT, a mistake seems inevitable. We need to cut out any dawdling on the ball near our box, just lump it forward if needed.

If we manage to keep them at bay for the first 30 mins, they will over commit and chances will open up. This is the last relevant game in the league in my eyes, hope we treat it with the importance it deserves.

If we had Maguire I'd be confident we can beat them. Without him our defence is not as good and their forwards could give it problems. Would be happy with a draw tbh.

We can’t lose this one. I don’t care how we win but it needs to be done.

Gonna be very even. Both have somewhat shaky CB’s but theirs abit more than us and that should hopefully clinch us the win. Will be a proper season ending finale (sort of) , since we can practically secure 2nd and send them out of CL.

Think our players will be very much up for it, and even moreso after the loss today.

Ok, we are allowed to play in this one. Let's dash their pathetic hopes.

This cnut of a ref again. Why do we always get these ABU refs in the bigger games? Liverpool starting the game with 12 men.

He was awful in the Chelsea-City game as well. He's more weak than shit but I guess it's all the same.

I know Maguire has been very good this season but I think our makeshift CB pairing for this game (I'd guess @ Bailly + Lindelof) has much more pace. So with Shaw & AWB back and holders of McFred, I think we'll be fine.

    2-0 to United.

Cavani + McTominay on the score sheet.

We really have to go after each game before the Europa final, the last thing we need is a defeatist attitude or resting players.

I got 11/11 on the lineup prediction when the first game was called off. Can I have that again please?

    Back to serious stuff:

    De Gea
    AWB - Bailly - Lindelof - Shaw
    Mctominay - Fred
    Greenwood - Bruno - Pogba
    Cavani
Definitely, Greenwood over Rashfood. The former is scoring at the moment.

No Maguire is a real concern. Bailly and Lindelof :nervous:

Axel I thought was a little better than Bailly this evening, but still doesn’t fill me with confidence
