Burnley Football Club, also known as The Clarets, are a professional football club based in Burnley, Lancashire. Burnley were founded during May 1882, when Burnley Rovers Football Club decided to shift their allegiance from rugby union to football. Playing in various blue and white kits for their first few years, the club played their first competitive game in October 1882 against Astley Bridge in the Lancashire Challenge Cup, that game ending in an 8–0 defeat. In 1883 the club moved to Turf Moor and remain there, only their Lancashire rivals Preston North End having occupied the same ground continuously for longer.

first appeared in the FA Cup in 1885-86 but were ignominiously beaten 11–0 when eligibility restrictions meant that their reserve side had to be fielded against Darwen. On 13 October 1886, Turf Moor became the first ground to be visited by a member of a (British) Royal Family. When it was decided to found the Football League for the 1888-89 season, Burnley were among the 12 founders of that competition. Through the years, Burnley have the won the First Division title twice, the FA Cup once, and reached the quarter-finals of the 1960-61 European Cup. Burnley biggest rivals are Blackburn Rovers (the fixture between the two is termed the East Lancashire derby), and they play their home games at Turf Moor.

    Team should be...

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Blind--Shaw
    -------Herrera-------Pogba-------
    Rashford------Mata------Martial
    ------------Ibrahimovic------------

Subs: Romero, Darmian, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Lingard, Young, Mkhitaryan

Early goals needed. 0-0 at half time and we'll start getting nervous and if it's still 0-0 at 70 mins then the crowd will start to panic.

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia--Smalling--Blind--Shaw
    -------Herrera-------Carrick-------
    Mhki (or Mata)---Pogba------Martial
    ------------Ibrahimovic------------

Would be our strongest team without Bailly.

Might want to give Zlatan a break for this one. He was hobbling a bit at the end and he's way too old to be playing thrice in 7 days.

    deGea
    Valencia Blind Rojo Shaw
    Carrick
    Mata Herrera Pogba Martial
    Rashford

    De Gea
    Valencia - Blind - Rojo - Shaw
    Carrick - Herrera
    Rashford - Mata - Pogba
    Zlatan

    De Gea
    Valencia Blind Rojo Shaw
    Carrick
    Herrera Mata
    Rashford Ibrahimovic Pogba
Though I wouldn't be against "resting" Ibra and Pogba, and putting Martial up top and Mkhitaryan in the front 3.

    DDG

    Valencia Smalling Blind Shaw

    Herrera Pogba

    Lingard Mata Martial

    Ibrahimovic

The two questions going into the game are whether Carrick can play 2 games in a week and whether Valencia's wrist will be ok. Other than that I'd go with the same team except Martial in for Rashford who I think needs a rest, although it will probably be Lingard that replaces him.

1st time this season we haven't been on TV in all comps :(

Yes, first choppy stream game of the season. :(

Rashford walked down the tunnel touching his thigh so I wouldn't be surprised if he misses this due to an injury.

    De Gea
    Valencia--Smalling--Blind--Shaw
    Herrera--Pogba
    Lingard--Mata--Martial
    Ibrahimovic

subs: Romero, Darmian, Rojo, Carrick, Schneiderlin, Memphis, Mkhitaryan

If Rooney is fit then have him on the bench.

    Early Predicted Line-up:
    _______________________________________________________________

    1. de Gea

    25. Valencia 12. Smalling 17. Blind 23. Shaw

    21. Herrera 6. Pogba

    22. Mkhitaryan 8. Mata 14. Lingard

    9. Ibrahimovic
    _______________________________________________________________

    Bench:
    20. Romero, 5. Rojo, 36. Darmian, 16. Carrick, 27. Fellaini, 18. Young, 11. Martial

    Predicted Score: Man Utd 3
    -0 Burnley (Ibrahimovic, Mata, Martial)

    De Gea
    Valencia Blind Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Pogba
    Mkhitaryan Mata Martial
    Zlatan

Rashford went off with cramp so I assume he won't be playing this game. Martial looked good against Fenerbache so should be fine for this.

Smalling was absolutely shit against Chelsea and deserves to be taken off. Rojo did very well against City so he deserves to start.

Please no more Pogba at 10. He hardly influences the play there and is so much better deeper where he can carry the ball.

Mkhitaryan has to start. It's Burnley FFS he should be able enough to play.

Mata in the 10 position because he's in fantastic form at the moment and we always play well whenever he plays.

If this team plays its 3-0 to United. No need for Fellaini or Carrick tbh.

    -------------De Gea
    Valencia---Blind---Rojo----Shaw
    ---------------Carrick
    -------Herrera-------Pogba
    Mkhitaryan---Rashford-----Martial

Our injury list is getting bigger: besides long-term Bailly and Jones, we might have unavailable for Burnley Valencia, Smalling, Rooney, Rashford, and maybe Martial.

The problem with playing with the first team in the League Cup is that less than three days after you're going to feature some tired players, with 3 games in 7 days (Valencia, Blind, Herrera, Pogba, Rashford, Ibrahimović) and risk injuries.

This just reminded me: was Smalling against Chelsea the second time Mourinho played an injured player only to worsen his condition, after Mkhitaryan against City?

    Valencia - Smalling - Blind - Shaw
    Herrera - Pogba
    Miki - Mata - Martial
    Rashford

Although I expect Rojo will play over Shaw and Zlatan will start again. Miki starting over Lingard is a pipe dream too.

Although Smalling should not just walk back in after that Chelsea showing we will need his physical presence against Burnley.

Need to be careful. They beat the scousers which doesn't seem easy this season.

Smalling? Mkhi? Valencia? Who all we expecting to be out of this game?

    De Gea
    Darmian Blind Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Pogba
    Lingard Mata Martial
    Zlatan

    Rashford

Edit: Is Rashford injured for sure?

We play Burnley this Saturday, then Fener on Thursday and Swansea on Sunday before the international break.

I assume that the objective is to get 6 points in PL and I'd take a draw in Fener with a rotated team.

Having seen our physical display recently, I just hope that Mou will give some players a rest.

I'd like to think that we can beat Burnley even if they are really confident and this year they are not conceding that much

I think there should just be one change with Martial in for Carrick.

I think this will be similar to the Stoke game, but we'll manage to get at least the second goal and probably keep a clean sheet again as well.

It looks like Smalling actually had a minor injury which is why he missed the League Cup match, but I'd still hope he can replace Rojo for this (even if he was poor at Chelsea).

Mkhitaryan needs to at least come off the bench in this game and then get some time on the field against Fenerbahce as well.
