Manchester City Football Club - nicknamed City, The Citizens, and The Sky Blues - are a professional football club based in Manchester, England; and were founded in 1880 as St. Mark's (West Gorton), before being renamed as Ardwick Association Football Club in 1887, and finally Manchester City in 1894. Prior to the takeover by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, the club had enjoyed moderate levels of success through their history - winning the League in 1936 and 1937, to go with 4 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, and 1 Cup Winners' Cup. However, since the beginning of the current decade, City have been buoyed by the signings of Sergio Agüero, Yaya Touré, David Silva, Pablo Zabaleta, Vincent Kompany; and have emerged as perpetual title contenders - winning the league twice and repeatedly finishing in the Top 3. City play their homes games at the Etihad Stadium, and share a local rivalry with neighbors and opponents for the game, Manchester United.

Start Mkhitaryan, Mata, Martial. Put Pogba next to Herrera. Put Blind at CB and Shaw at LB.

Smalling has to start because he's not as shit as Rojo.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Blind Shaw
    Pogba Herrera
    Mkhitaryan Mata Martial
    Zlatan

    5-0 City

If Jose sets up for another stifle job, we should and would deserve another hiding!

It will be a much closer game imo. City's not playing very well either. And it's at home for United. And Chelsea was underrated before the game by a lot of people. Only problem is United just doesn't care about dominating the game.

I personally wouldn't change much for this.. The players themselves need a pick-up and this is a big enough game to start a new chapter. Herrera can dim Silva or De Bryune and Pogba and Carrick will feed the strikers(hopefully Rooney is back)..

    2-0 Pogba and Rooney(Rashford)

Going into the game neither side is in great form right now.

But City WILL be up for this. Will we?

It can't get any worse can it?

    Team should be...

    ---------------De Gea---------------
    Valencia--Bailly--Smalling--Shaw
    ---------------Carrick---------------
    -------Herrera-------Pogba-------
    Mata----------Zlatan----------Martial

Subs: Romero, Blind, TFM, Fellaini, Young, Rashford, Lingard

Pathetic to see the predictions here for this game. city has not won for five games, yet you all love them don't you?

need a big performance here to re-assure us it's not all as bad as the kneekjerkery would suggest

Just glad it's the league cup. Couldn't handle another thrashing in the league so soon after today.

I'm gonna make a big prediction just for the hell of it - 3 nil to us:lol:

Seriously, I wouldn't be surprised if we won, but not that bothered tbh

    -------------------------De Gea--------------------------
    Young-Valencia-Smalling-Blind-Bailly-Shaw-Rashford
    -------------------Pogba----------Fellaini----------------

    ---------------------------Ibra--------------------------

    3-0 United

What I would do but there is no chance:
    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Blind Shaw
    Carrick
    Herrera Mata
    Mkhitaryan Martial Rashford
Pogba and Ibra don't deserve a start here. They've massively let us down in every big game, and you can't point to some great performances in the past in big games in previous clubs. Ibra has always been more of a guy who consistently grabs goals and beats the cannon fodder so he won't bring much to this game. But with this side, we get pace and quality on the ball in every position (apart from Smalling and Blind... Forced due to Bailly being injured, otherwise Smalling wouldn't be in the 18 for me).

Pogba and Ibra don't deserve a start here. .

I get what you are saying, but that is the formation on which them two players would thrive on. Pogba having the license to be the furthest forward, and if both Mkhi and Martial played as IF, Zlatan dropping a bit deeper isn't the worst thing in the world as he can pass the ball, so it gives us another way of player.

This is of course if we pushed high, pressed with some intensity, played more direct and actually made space for ourselves.
As we just sit deep, don't press and build up so slow, we just end up trying to break down solid defensive units... None in our team shine under this. Well, De Gea, but that's because we let teams attack us

I agree, but at the same time, dropping them for this would also show them they have to work harder. People can make excuses about system and stuff, but it's no excuse for simply getting the basics wrong which they have down all too often lately. In that system, in midfield, it's Mata or Pogba. Not both. And in a straight choice between the two, only one deserves to play and that is Mata.

Up front is less of a concern, but Ibra can't play every game, it's EFL cup, rashford generally plays with the right intensity which can't be said for Ibra, so I would put Martial up for him while also putting Mkhi out there as he is actually a potentially world class player if we use him to his best.

    DDG
    Darmian- Smalling-Blind-Shaw
    Carrick
    Herrera pogba
    Mkhitayran Zlatan Martial

Oddly enough, I'm very confident for this game. The players will have a chip on their shoulders, while I'm almost entirely positive Jose would like to do one on Pep.

    Best back 4 available
    Carrick
    Pogba Herrera
    Mkhi Rashford Martial

2 - 0 United, Rashford and Martial to score

Going to get hammered again. Buzzing for this.

Oh yes, Icing on the cake. Feck those who make the draws..

    ----------------Romero
    Darmian---Mensah---Jones---Shaw
    ---------------Carrick------------------
    -----Scweinsteiger----Schneiderlin--
    Valencia----Rashford----------Martial

We're due a result against a big team. Pretty confident we'll respond after today.

City look average at the moment, but we are woeful. Derby-factor aside, this is a nothing game. We need to start winning some league matches.

Can't really be arsed for this one, I think it'll be very tough. Wish we had Norwich at home or something.

This is the perfect game for City to break their winless streak.

Completely meaningless game against our local rivals. Hate it. Even if we win it's useless. The only thing that matters right now is performing in the actual league, maybe Europe, then maybe the FA Cup.

Imagine if we'd end up finishing 6th in the league, get knocked out of Europe but win the fecking League Cup, now that would be too much for me after the shiteshow of last years.

I don't care one bit about this one.

Play Fellaini and Ligard for this one and Mata and Martial vs Burnley. Even play Memphis I don't care.

Also put Mickhi in the lineup ffs!
