Northampton Town Football Club (nicknamed The Cobblers - a reference to the town's historical shoe-making industry) are a professional football club based in Northampton, Northamptonshire; and were founded in 1897, after meetings between the town’s schoolteachers and local solicitor A.J. Darnell, and joined the Football League in 1921 in the Third Division of English football. After decades of seesaw performances in the lower divisions (including the 'memorable' defeat to Manchester United where George Best scored 6 goals) and being the record holder for the shortest time taken to be promoted from the bottom tier to the top tier and relegated back down to the bottom again, in the space of nine years - Northampton Town entered a new, more successful era when they moved to their current stadium from County Ground. Their recent form is particularly good - before the weekend, they were undefeated in 31 games. Northampton's most prominent rivals are Peterborough United; and they have been playing their home games at Sixfields Stadium since 1994.

    Herrera Schneiderlin
    Young Mata Memphis

    2-0 win

I wouldn't give any of them the night off after that.

We need to find our best team fast and play it consistently.

Hopefully we can string a few passes together against a League One side

At least the losing run will come to an end. Right? :nervous:

Think this will be a difficult game but we'll come out of it with our heads held high in a turbulent time for the club.

    2-1 Northampton.

    Mkhitaryan still out I assume?
    Romero
Fosu Mensah - Smalling - Blind - Darmian
    Herrera - Carrick
    Young - Mata - Lingard
    Rashford

Yeah, I can see another complete disaster in the making. Against a shit, alehouse rugby team from a no mark town, with their footballing jujitsu, small, cramped stadium, officials perfectly content to allow their thuggery unchecked, us in disarray.

    Shit.

Don't care, end the season now so we can throw and 200m at our problems and see how the next 6 games of next season go

    Rinse and repeat

I like to see TFM, Tuanzebe and at least 3 more youngsters to mix it up with Memphis and Morgan. We may lose but we need to blood in some youngsters. Thats the Manchester United way (in the League cup).

    But please no Rojo.

    De Gea

    Fosu-Mensah
    Smalling
    Blind
    Shaw

    Carrick
    Herrera
    Pogba

    Mata
    Ibrahimovic
    Rashford

Bailly the only one I'd really give a rest to.

4 losses in a row? Very possible imo. I would expect our 2nd team to play (whoever that is).

    Predicted Line-up:

    _____________________________________________________________________

    20. Romero

    36. Darmian 3. Bailly 17. Blind 5. Rojo

    21. Herrera 16. Carrick 28. Schneiderlin

    8. Mata 19. Rashford 7. Memphis
    ____________________________________________________________________

    Bench:
    51. Johnstone, 12. Smalling, 24. Fosu-Mensah, 27. Fellaini, 14. Lingard, 18. Young, 9. Ibrahimovic
Not even going to predict a score. If we win I'll be happy.

We need a confidence boost, the plan being win the game and score a handful of goals as well.

DDG, TFM, Smalling, Blind, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Pogba, Mata, Memphis, Rashford.

In reality it'll be a nervy game which we'll scrap 1-0.

I like to see TFM, Tuanzebe and at least 3 more youngsters to mix it up with Memphis and Morgan. We may lose but we need to blood in some youngsters. Thats the Manchester United way (in the League cup).

    But please no Rojo.
Our U-23 are not great at the moment. The last thing we need is another hiding.

Players need to play themselves into form and second rate competitions now come into significance due to our league form so play the strongest side possible whatever that is

Feck playing fringe players. Mourinho needs to play a team he will play in the premier league. Six points behind City now. No time for experimenting. We're like 6 games in, for feck sake.

    He needs to have the:

    Right balance
    Formation
    Players

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Blind Shaw
    Carrick
    Fellaini Pogba
    Lingard Rashford Martial

    Shit.

What are you talking about? They've just gone on a 31 game unbeaten streak, getting promoted in the process, and play decent football. Save your outdated cliches.

Didn't Northampton turn the scousers over at Anfield a few years back. Food for thought. Take this lightly at our peril.

I'd like to see Carrick/schneiderlin with pogba and herrera. Drop rooney and fellaini and just see how it plays.

this is a perfect game to change things up.

Really think we need to play the strongest team possible. This first-string needs more time together, and a thumping result would do wonders for some fragile confidences.

That being said, Northampton have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain.
