Feyenoord Rotterdam - nicknamed De club aan de Maas (The Club on the Meuse) and De Trots van Zuid (The Pride of the South) - is a Dutch professional football club based in Rotterdam, playing in the Eredivisie. The club was founded as Wilhelmina in the pub De Vereeniging on 19 July 1908. Between 1908, 1910, 1911 and 1912, the club underwent a series of changes of name and team colors, becoming Hillesluise Football Club in 1909 and then RVV Celeritas. Upon earning promotion to the National football association in 1912, the club renamed to become SC Feijenoord, before changing that to SC Feyenoord in 1974, and Feyenoord Rotterdam in 1978, when SC Feyenoord became a separate amateur team. One of the most successful clubs in the Netherlands with Ajax and PSV, Feyenoord's most successful period in history was the 1960s and '70s when Coen Mouljin, Willem Van Hanegem and Ove Kidvall led the club to six league titles, two European trophies, an Intercontinental cup and thereby becoming the first Dutch club to win the European Cup and the Intercontinental Cup - mostly notably under the stewardship of Ernst Happel. Feyenoord has a longstanding rivalry with Amsterdam based club Ajax, as a clash between the two biggest cities in The Netherlands, which is called De Klassieker (The Classic); and they have played their home games at Stadion Feyenoord (De Kuip) since 1937.
