Red man down in London town
Starting 11

Kuszczak (7) Reliable. Good kicking. Instinctive saves. Brave in the air.

Neville (7) Composed. Purposeful and experienced defending. Decent crossing. One blunder.
Brown (7) Magnificent  MOTM Decisive. Headed clearances. Interceptions. Used his strength. Won all challenges.
Evans (6) Good. Averted danger well. Tidy tackling. Started moves from the back.
Fabio (6) Sacrifice. Pushed forward. Tireless running and tracking back. Red carded for last ditch tackle.

Nani (7) Livewire  Good crosses. Pace and deception. Good awareness and invention. Wasteful with end product.
Gibson (6) Worker. Careful midfield passing. Worked hard. Wasteful, but brave shooting.
Carrick (6) Unspectacular. Didnt impose in midfield. Range of passing. A bit sloppy.
Welbeck (7) Tricky  Elusive wing play. Decent end product. Good effort all game. Matchwinning goal.

Macheda (5) Unlucky. Ineffective start to the game. Closed down well. Subbed off.
Owen (6) Unselfish. Intelligent runs. Link up play. Frequently Offside. Header on target. Assisted Welbeck.

Subs

De Laet (6) Willing. Filled in capably. Well timed tackle. Positive play.
Valencia (6) Solid. Showed his speed. Defended our lead. Overhit cross.
King (6) Fearless. Clearance. Found space and chances.

Overall (7) Undermanned but not outgunned. We were never at our best, but showed enough character to grind it out. Fabio's early sending off gave Wolves a huge opportunity for an upset but our 10 men would not be moved. We continued to dominate the play and engineered the decisive goal late on. Through to the next round despite the odds, yet again.

I agree apart from Brown...7 is more than enough

A bit generous to give Nani a 7. He just barely earns it. But he was our most dangerous player all game. Found space, beat his man numerous times, plenty of skill and pace. He let himself down with the final ball at times though. A strange game but he was better than most of our team.

Nani might have been a bit wasteful, but he was still one of our most liveliest players.

Well I agree with Raven for one. If Nani plays like that assists and goals will come for sure, and with more playing time I think he'll improve.

I was just jumping the bandwagon, didn't even see first half.

Kuszczak - 7

Neville - 7
Brown - 7.5
Evans - 6
Fabio - 5

Nani - 5
Gibson - 5.5 (needs to learn to spot a player from distance)
Carrick - 4 (Is he on a windup this season?)
Welbeck - 7

Macheda - 6
Owen - 7

Kuszczak (8) Should start the next game

Neville (7) Back
Brown (8) Impressive
Evans (7) Decent
Fabio (5) You did a bad thing, Fabio

Nani (6) Amazing up until the last thing he does
Gibson (6) Potential, but wasn't really happening today
Carrick (4) Bad
Welbeck (7) Not sure he was up to much, but he scored. No one else did that

Macheda (5) Did nothing in half an hour, obvious sacrifice
Owen (6) Mostly offside.

Subs

De Laet (8) Decent defending, some skills too, along with the worst shot I've seen in years
Valencia (6) Wasteful
King (7) I like King

I agree with all the ratings in the opening post. A 7 for De Laet tho.

As for Nani, he had the beating of the left back every time and should have been more confident in taking him on more. His final ball was not perfect, but considering we had ten men for a long stretch and there was not a whole lot to aim for up top with soley Owen and the lack of complimentary movement of two strikers.

TK - 6 -

Gary Nev 7
Wes 7
Evans 6
Fabio 5

Nani 7
Gibson 6
Gibson 6
Welbeck7

Owen 7
Macheda - 5

Subs

De Laet 6
King 6
Valencia - 5

Nani deserves a 7 for being United's most dangerous and lively forward player. He made a few shite decisions/poor crosses but he was easily United's most dangerous player and skinned the Wolves full back at will which is more than can be said about the rest of the attack. Welbeck and Owen get a 7 for the contribution for the winner which was a quality piece of play. Gary Nev and Wes played reasonably well as well.

Brown 8 MOTM - did REALLY well and saved us on 3 occations...

Nani and Carrick 5
Owen 6

The rest 7

If a few of nani's crosses had come off people would be chucking 8's & 9's at him - he looked to beat his man time and time again and more often than not he did - end product was wasteful but a 7 is more than justified.

PIG 7 Some good stops, still don't feel as though he commands his area at all
Nev - 7 Looked as sharp as i've seen in a while and made some key blocks, tackles
Brown - 8 Solid, some great challenges and one particular headed clearance sticks in mind
Evans - 7 Looked a bit shakey, but against that big guy he was always gonna have a challenge on his hands. Good experience
Fabio - 5 Didn't have chance to make an impact, did the right thing in earning a red

Nani - 7 Looked like our most dangerous player for most of the match, but needs to improve his end product
Carrick - 6 Should really be imposing himself more in this kind of game, needs to find form quickly
Gibson - 7 Looked for the ball all the time and made some telling breaks, energetic performace
Welbeck - 7 Great goal, maybe not upto his vest on the wing but you can see he's a star in the making

Owen - 7 Link-up play was good, but struggled when on his own up front. Clearly more than just a goal scorer
Macheda - 5 No impact whilst on the pitch, unlucky to be sacraficed

Subs -
De Laet 6 - Looks neat and tidy and decent on the ball, possibly worst shot of the season
Valencia 6 - looked lively, would have liked to see him run at Elekobi more and exploit his lack of pace
King 6 - Looks to have something about him, good shot on goal. Looking forward to seeing more of him.

You could say that about him in any game though; his crossing is piss poor.

7s all round for me except for Brown 8, surprised at the stick Carrick is getting, I thought he was decent especially in the first half and I'm one of his harshest critics. I thought Kusczcak deserves some credit aswell, not a huge amount to do but very confident in his kicking - much improved there, good shot stopping as ever when required.

PIG - 7

Neville - 7
Brown - 7
Evans - 7
Fabio - 6

Nani - 7
Carrick - 6
Gibson - 8
Welbeck - 8

Macheda - 5
Owen - 6

Subs:

De Laet - 7
Valencia - 6
King - n/a

Kuszczak 5 - same old same old, good shot-stopping, dodgy on crosses
Neville 6 - Played well in general but docked for that screwed clearance
Brown 6 - A bit suspect early on, thought he improved though
Evans 7 - solid
Fabio 4 - silly boy
Nani 5 - Damn it, being left out recently seems to have set him back again
Gibson 7 - good energy, our only goal threat for much of the game
Carrick 4 - Where is his mind?
Welbeck - 7 Thought he was sloppy at times, but took the goal well
Owen - 6 Set up the goal, worked hard, ended up at LB at one point
Macheda N/A - Shame he had to go
De Laet - 6 Solid
Valencia - 6 Worked hard, but slow to cross at times like he's in two minds
King - 6 Very exciting debut, but only played 10 minutes so can only a 6

Kuszczak (10) Didn't give the opposition 2 goals

Neville (7) vintage
Brown (7) wasn't bad, should have cleared the fabio incident.
Evans (7) switched off once but overall comfortable
Fabio (6) runs like a pansy, got himself purposely sent off so he can participate in strictly come dancing. probably.

Nani (7) Has he been told to cross the ball along the ground because owen is an untanned oompa loompa or was his crossing just woeful. possibly both
Gibson (8) popped up everywhere
Carrick (5) popped up nowhere
Welbeck (8) they can't get the ball off him.

Macheda (5) bit rubbish
Owen (1) didn't score a 96th minute winner against city tonight the scouse prick

Subs

De Laet (7) should take our penalties
Valencia (6) tidy
King (6) the new macheda

Overall (7) better than them

PIG - mature display, some great saves. Looked calm 8

Gary - Gary 6
Brown - read situations well, mature 8
Evans - same as Orange 7
Alan Brazil - will become a great, not there yet. Inexperienced 5

Welbeck - hit and miss, but when he gets it right it's sensational 7
Carrick - tidy, but not influential 6
Gibson - slow feet, althoug they run about a bit. Improving 6
Nani - a constant threat, although not always succeding 7

Macheda - some way to go yet, but is clearly a player 6
Owen - clever, experienced 7

de Laet - engaged, clever, didn't put a foot wrong 8
Valencia - ok 6
King - no impression 5

PIG - 7 - some good saves. Looked solid out there.

Neville - 6 - Alright, did a feck up once and was late few times.
Brown - 6 - Poor error. Can't give him more than 6. His unawareness led to Fabio's red card and game over for Macheda.
Evans - 7 - solid.
Fabio - 6 - sacrificed himself.

Nani - 6 most dangerous player - fahct. His end product was severely lacking and his decision making was poor as well. Was greedy on more than one occasion
Carrick - 4 - alright where's Carrick and what has this lookalike done to him? Another fecking spastic performance. Turns like a bus.
Gibson - 7. solid game
Welbeck - 7 - was pretty much wack throughout the match, lost the ball almost every time he touched it. His goal however decided the match.

Macheda - 6 - didn't play enough
Owen - 6 - nice one two for the goal, anonymous for the rest of the game.

Subs:

De Laet - 8 MOTM for me. Solid as hell, good going forward. Has some quick feet this lad.
Valencia - 5 it's quite annoying to watch him every effin game to run circles around his left peg.
King - 6 lively. Quick feet, sharp, wish him luck in his development. He's behind Macheda in the pecking order tho.

Kuszczak 5 - same old same old, good shot-stopping, dodgy on crosses

I agree with most of your ratings, charley, but Kuszczak came for a few crosses from corners well, his kicking was good, and his shot-stopping was superb. Good all round performance.

I thought Welbeck was MOTM today. He looked really lively, quick, linked up well with the attacking play, and topped it off with a calm and classy finish. Impressive stuff. Shame Macheda had to come off, due to Fabio's red, as it would've been nice to see how he'd have done during the game, as he's not had much playing time so far this season.

PIG - 7 - Did everything asked of him and did it well

Neville - 7 - Captain's performance
Brown - 6 - Looked iffy
Evans - 6 - Sailed through the game
Fabio - 6 - Looked a threat in the first 30 minutes and did the right thing in terms of taking a red to stop a goal. I dread to think what would have happened had they scored first

Nani - 7 - Looked our only threat but continually wasted his final ball
Carrick - 7 - His best performance this season, didn't waste every single pass and was heavily involved in the build up for the goal
Gibson - 5 - Invisible
Welbeck - 6 - Brilliant goal but totally ineffective out on the left

Macheda - 5 - Sucked that he was the one sacrificed, never got a kick in the 30 minutes he was on
Owen - 6 - Due to the red was totally ineffective up front on his own, great assist though

De Laet - 6 - Didn't stand out as much as he did against Hull or Valencia but still did well
Valencia - 6 - I'd lost interest in the game by the time he came on to be honest
King - 6 - Looked lively, have no idea who he is

Cant believe the low ratings for Carrick, compare tonight's performance with those he's given previously this season he was anything but poor!

Still not up to his usual standard but much better than he has been

Why is Fabio getting 4 and 5's? He prevented a goal after a schoolboy error from Brown.

Wolves are a Premiership team, 1-0 up against an inexperienced side..They could've easily shut up shop and feck knows if we could level the game, not to mention winning.

Can't see what Fabio did wrong, Ole anyone?

Kuszczak - 6 Didn't have much to do but coped well when called into action
Neville- 6 Ok
Brown - 7 We need him to get match fit and back to his 07/08 form. Played well
Evans - 5.5 Needs to learn from the Neviller on how to play against aerially competent opponents
Fabio - 6 Attacked very well but wasn't as sound defensively in the short period of time he was on the pitch.

Nani - 5 Poor, time and time again he got himself into good positions but failed to utilise them. He had the beating of Elokobi but failed to make any use of it. Disappointing performance
Gibson - 6 Unspectacular, was tidy and didn't have his usual sting in his shots.
Carrick - 5 Was expected to provide the creative spark in midfield but failed miserably to feed the strikers.
Welbeck - 6 Had one or two moments and the excellently taken goal. Needs to bulk up

Macheda - 5 Hard NOT to look ineffective when your midfielders don't feed you.
Owen - 5 One poor header one excellent link up play. Largely on the fringes

Subs

De Laet - 7 Impressive
Valencia - 6 The skills coaches have a lot of work with this one
King - Aptly named

Overall (7) Undermanned but not outgunned. We were never at our best, but showed enough character to grind it out. Fabio's early sending off gave Wolves a huge opportunity for an upset but our 10 men would not be moved. We continued to dominate the play and engineered the decisive goal late on. Through to the next round despite the odds, yet again.
