Cristiano Ronaldo - Much Ado About Al Nassr

No sorry, I just watched that TikTok again.

Lost today with Portugal, and Hojlund did his celebration when he scored.

Did anyone see the game? If so, how did Ronaldo play?

He was barely involved.
In general Portugal struggled to create much. Denmark could've won by three or four goals and no one would've batted an eyelid.

As long as he's there starting every game Portugal won't came close to wining something again.

They keep ruining generation after generation to appease one player.

I get that he should be a bit part player now.

But what top class strikers has he been keeping out of the team for the last 10 years?

They don’t have to be top class, they just have to offer more outside the box and off the ball than Ronaldo has for years now.

He’s mostly been underwhelming in championships for Portugal, especially the last two. It’s not worth it to have the rest of the squad pick up his slack.

Portugal is a nation that puts its hero’s on much higher pedestals, whenever they get someone who achieves a lot the whole nation claims that success as their own. He is a literal god to every player on that team and every fan in the country, and when he stops getting picked it’ll be because he decided.

He was atrocious in the last WC and Euro. What's even the point on holding on to a 40 year old who's not performing like Pepe in the euros(who was incredible for his age in the last euro).

One of the benefits of moving on from Cristiano is that it isnt Ronaldo FC. They can actually fully focus on team play.

I know he's been shite at tournaments, we all know that. At this stage he should be a bit part player, I'm not arguing for him, just don't think Portugal would have done any better if he didn't play.

20+ years ago Portugal had some great players and could have done more, but they had no good strikers who could make the difference. You had Pauleta, Nuno Gomes, Postiga etc.. then Ronaldo came along.

Whether Ronaldo played or didn't play these last few years. They weren't winning much or doing much better. They're like England, will batter teams through qualifying easily but always lose to the first half decent side they face. Because the reality is they really don't have that much quality in depth beyond the first 11.

When he goes it will probably be the same as it was before him, tidy midfielders, inconsistent and frustrating wingers and no proper striker to put the ball away. They'll be crying out for another Ronaldo.

He isn’t top class anymore and Ramos can definitely score those tap-ins… And would acknowledge his teammates more often.

Besides, they could play with a false nine or whatever suits them as long as it’s one more player running and genuinely helping when the opposition has the ball.

Jota or Ramos are team players, Ronaldo is a liability.

Portugal is ruining a great generation just because of the CR7 brand.

I’m sick of it and if we lose I won’t lose a minute of sleep over it.

Feel sorry for the other players though, they deserve better.

It's still better to have 11 players on the pitch instead of '10'.

Never said he was and I've acknowledged that he shouldn't be starting every game. But that poster said they've ruined generations of players because of him.

Their choice of manager has been more of a hindrance than playing Ronaldo.

Yet, it's him such a huge issue if he is properly served and scores?, just asking, I feel sometimes that in general with former legends we tend to get bore at some point and even if of course they have a lesser level, we fans can become a bit over the top with critics, it happens to Messi, Kane, Lewa nowadays and CR....I still feel that with a team working as a team they have enough experience and talent to deliver.
At the same time of course that certain attitudes, lack of compromise, solidarity in defensive relative tasks (sometimes it's just moving a lot to offer themselves free and give air to his teams by holding the ball) can absolutely hinder the perfomance of the team, but sometimes if there are not trully proper replacements at sight, still using proper Legends can still be an answer.

Leaving aside CR's ego, his antics, he still is fit and Portugal still does not have a in Jota or Ramos an in great from forward, I use forward because neither are exactly pure goalscorers. Both are facing troubles in their teams tom be full time first team, late Jota's appearences with Liverpool were abismal, seems that he has lost that super sub quality he used to have.

I dunno, I get why many fans can get tired of him, last Euro he wasn't in great form and hism attitude it's hard to swallow yet at the same time it wasn't a team firing in all clinders and him only fecking it. There must be someone there as a coach and a team already old enough to be clear with him and still get sthg out of his hunger and talent, more given thet the Jotas and Ramos are not blasting the door putting pressure to absolute replace him.

Ramos has really good movement and creates space for others to play. With the attacking midfield talent they have, that is the setup they should be training for.

They are just wasting years to placate Ronaldo’s ego now and help him get his 1000 goals.

Ramos should be moving club and going to a team where he is the main man. I think he has a lot to offer and will always be stop/start at PSG
