It is surprising there is no competition between various designs.

Instead, we got only one terrible design, which was already decided/approved. A bit unusual take on participatory approach.
Still way behind this fast moving thread. So is it common that the owners of a sports club would release a number of variants of their propposed new stadium and fans (???) would have a poll, deciding a winner, or what do you like mate. Pretty sure INEOS had worked on number of designs and this one went the distance amongst the voice of proffesionalls in this field.

Do you like it? Im sure you do from the inside. There is a plaza around the ground never seen in UK before. Agree from the outside it looks too bold and ambitious to pull it off. But its so unique that we at least should give it a time before finally render it bad.

Rival fans are going to rip the stadium design even if Michelangelo himself descended from the heavens to design it.

This is clear, even if it's extraordinary once built there'll be oppo fans who will find a loose bolt or a stupid thing to dislike about it. If anyone is basing their appreciation for it on what oppo fans might say or how they'll mock it, let's just say they have very thin skin.
If people are that bothered by oppo fans opinion … surely the move away from leaky roofs, derelict toilets and mouse traps is a plus?

Yep, its good to pick and chose the quotes.

"And I think as it kind of grew, the idea of a covered space, well how do you do a structure for that? The verticality of the mast kind of helps"

So basically it was during their design process. These are still concepts, so it wouldn't really be an afterthought.

They state that the masts help the structure.
What do you mean its all good to pick and chose quotes? The quotes I gave where given because they related to the subject we were talking.

Ok you included a quote where they say the masts help, so what? Doesn't mean they didn't have other plans or ideas how they were going to do it otherwise. How does the SoFi do it without 200ft masts? The masts being an after thought and they help the roof can both be true.

They said themselves it was pretty much an after thought, so how do you know more?

We should be happy to have a new stadium. We want to be back amongst the best in the country/Europe, we should have a stadium like that.

Building a stadium is not enough. It needs to have a whole activity around, and not only on matchdays. Here, we'll have a new part in Manchester living everyday.

We should be sad of leaving OT, but it become to old and to be honest the whole club needs to move forward to a new dimension.

More importantly, the ticketing will bring more revenue to the club.

It's 24.000 new seats with 19 home games in the PL, or 456.000 more seats vs today. If you take an average of 60£ (which is lower) it 27M£ per year of income in addition just with these new seats.

Also, don't be foolish, the average cost will also increase for the tickets and will bring even more funds with ticketing.

So yes, it will bring more revenue to the club and hopefully more revenue to the first team, training grounds etc.
Think somebody needs to show the cost of an average ticket and season tickets at the other PL clubs. Remember our tickets prices have been frozen for a number of years and that could not go on forever.

Prices across the 20 teams for the 2024-25 season range between £58 ($75) and £85 ($111), with the most common price at £80 ($104). - according to Google

You don't have to read every page. The joke is used several times per page so only need to read another page.
Is it a joke if that's what I think it looks like? I admit that I don't always read the previous pages. From now on I will avoid writing my opinion about a subject matter, if someone else has already made a similar comment.

Jesus christ.

So are ours outrageous? Think the outrage was more them charging same for children, OAP'S and the disabled, but for everybody else is it such a blow. That bit was a mistake.

Fulham. Bloody hell. Is that for that fancy new stand?

If they're going to do concerts and gigs there, amongst other stuff, are they going to do a retracting pitch? Can't imagine the pitch standing up well to being covered and uncovered all the time, as well as trodden on repeatedly.

Not everyone is a Renaissance person :)

But joking aside, United fans can be so miserable. We build the best sports venue in the world and so much moaning

Welp, not a fan of the look. Yes, I inexplicably missed the architect’s calls/text for my input on the matter. Nevertheless, I will forever be punctured by this punctilious palace in nightmares.

Ah ok, they said themselves it was pretty much an after thought, but romufc knows more

So the quote says almost an afterthought.... not pretty much, almost. So it could have been ways of supporting the structure and they decided to have a mast and make it a trident. Talking about afterthoughts when construction isnt even started. Sometimes thats how things in construction work, they would have designed variations of the same design, having different methods of supporting it, when the masts came about, it worked well being a trident. No one is saying they saw a trident and decided that MUST be used in the design.

Actually, if you look at the SoFi stadium, there are plenty of columns supporting it. Go have a look for yourself.

Well, with all due respect to the architects speaking, they are just architects, not structural engineers. So even they wont be able to tell you how they would support the structure. This will require alot of soil testing and calculations, which will take up to 6/7 months.

We're close to 100 times the same joke has been made in this thread before you repeated it, and that includes the "fit for a circus club". Of course it gets a bit tiresome, you don't have to do the "woe is me" follow up when it was pointed out to you.

So are ours outrageous? Think the outrage was more them charging same for children, OAP'S and the disabled, but for everybody else is it such a blow. That bit was a mistake.
There's a post after mine that breaks it wone further, and based on that United's ticket prices are nowhere near outrageous in comparison to other PL clubs

The outrage was a bit OTT IMO, SJR said in the GNev interview that it was 500 tickets that were returned and were tickets that had been sold at discounted rates and were 'resold' at the full price - didn't kae for good PR and apparently it's been stopped now

You notice that some of the the people who go against any reservations are ones who rarely visit old Trafford anyway but it will look nice on tele

There does seem to be an element of that doesn't there.

Heh, I still think we'll be staying at OT. I really don't fancy us going full on Disneyland.

Nah mate I don't think they go this far through the process without building the new stadium.

I have to laugh when people say Spurs weren't competitive while building their stadium... When exactly have they been competitive? That period is the best they've been in the last 30+ plus years. They finished in the top three in the Premier League several times and they were in a Champions League final. Did they win anything? No, but building a new stadium didn't make them Spurs.

Almost and pretty much mean the same thing, so I'm not sure what point you are trying to make there.

Yes I know there are, that's my point. SoFi didn't need 200ft masts so there multiple ways to do it. Even if we had always designed to have the roof supported by masts I doubt they needed to be so high, which is probably the case.

"The trident is an aesthetic extra that will come at significant cost but Foster and Sir Jim Ratcliffe want something that will set United apart from any other stadium."

True but given its location it would have never been allowed being so close to LAX

If your thoughts were just personal attacks like calling Maguire 'Slabhead' and Antony a 'fidget spinner', then yes, you should retract them.
No they are always based on performance and my opinion of their performance .

And my opinion of the stadium is that I don’t like it.

Anything else or are we done here?

Should come as no surprise to anyone.
Club have to make clear where the money is coming from.
