Milos Kerkez

No team has a particular policy that limits their spending in particular positions.

The fact Liverpool spent world record fees on a goalkeeper and a CB shows they spend money where they have a need.

Furthermore, they are in a position of strength, that they don’t need to buy 3-5 first team players every summer, so can concentrate their funds.
They do need to buy 3 first-team players this summer in particular.

I don't think he'll end up at Liverpool. They never seem to spend big on fullbacks.

It wouldn't surprise me if he went to City and they move Gvardiol to centre back.

Glen Johnson was one of the most expensive full-backs of all-time when they signed him I'm sure, like top 5.

They also spent half decent money on Nathaniel Clyne afterwards, and on Moreno at LB. You have to remember it's only the last 7 or 8 years where transfer fees for full-backs have exploded, during which they've had Trent and Robertson and so simply haven't needed to.

What a weird thing to notice

It would be like people saying it about United in 2001. We’d had Neville on the right for nearly a decade, and Irwin on the other side for over a decade. Eventually though the time comes to replace them, which is what they’re having now.

Yeah true. I just looked at their current four full backs and didn't really think about what they'd previously spent. It's mad that Johnson and Alex Moreno cost more than any of their current full backs!

True, I guess Trent and Bradley are their equivalent of Neville and Irwin.

In terms of Liverpool being in a strong position, they could be about to lose 3 of their best players on a free!

There is no point signing another LWB of the same age group. We did this with Diallo, Pellistri and Sancho which was a massive mistake.

Should we have prioritized him over Dorgu? Most likely yes, since he is already a much better player and only 1 year older. But he probably would have cost too much.

We have another signing that plays LWB coming in this summer as well. So we do not need a LWB

IMO, to get the best out of the current players we shouldn’t invest our budget to Right Wingback. Instead, Amorim should be playing Dalot and Mazraoui as inverted right wingback, while our R10 as wide forward (Amad & Garnacho). We have seen this worked well vs arsenal with Garnacho and Mazraoui combination, where Mazraoui tucked inside playing more inverted while Garnacho went wide, which also suits to Dalot because he’s been coached as inverted fullback under ten Hag and suit for Amad who likes to go wide area.

My concern with our LWB right now is that we only have Dorgu at the moment who has the profile to provide threat in the wide area. If he gets injured or suspended, we don’t have like to like profile to replace him.

But we have cover already bought that arrives in the summer. So if we buy a 3rd person for a position that only one can play seems like overkill based on our finances.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this deal is already agreed between Liverpool & Bournemouth (like the Mac Allister one was with Brighton).

Robertson has shown massive decline recently so it makes perfect sense to replace him with Kerkez.

He’d be a bargain at 50 million as you pretty much have your LB position sorted for 10 years.

Said since the start of the season he's been outstanding. He should have been the signing to make over Dorgu, obviously finances have restricted this but he will inevitably end up a player the club will look back on and regret not targeting if he performs for a rival.

Just curiosity, what make you think he’s ready for PL?

Know the guy who scouted him at AZ, must be such a great feeling. They did a thorough data analysis on him, he stood out greatly. Was great as soon as he arrived there.

He feels like a fullback who is decent going forwards.

As opposed to a winger who is good defensively.

The latter to me is what a wingback is.

Assist of the season at the weekend. The run was great, the cross was out of this World. Brilliant finish too.

If we hadn't already moved for Dorgu I would have opted for him.

Yeah, I guess it's semantics of sorts, but it probably depends on small little details like formation 3-4-3 versus 3-4-2-1 and other playing personnel, but agreed with you in general - in any formation with 3 at the back, i automatically would prefer wingers who are good defensively over defenders good going forward.

Ideally, possibly have 1 of each in your first XI

He's superb. Seeing him at Liverpool or City would be a real blow for the rest of the league.
