I'm all for a bit of scepticism but this is just pure pessimism and naysaying for the sake of it.

Depending on what you read, you could believe this is all one big conspiracy theory to swindle hundreds of millions for their own pockets.

There will be quite a few in that echo chamber i expect.

Ok...... What?!
Bowl square stadiums like the ones you mentioned look alike. There are many all over the world. Common design.
Im saying these two stadiums will have a very distinctive common design,
A net wrapped around both stadiums.
Two stasiums will share this design.
One in Manchester and one in Marroco.

I'm also expecting it to take off. Maybe its all a covert plan to build a spacecraft for billionaires once the world is fecked.

What part of that do you think is unlikely?
That everything about the matchday experience will be soulless.

And regarding the affordability of new build housing, the price of a flat isn't magically baked into the walls of the property, it's set by supply and demand. This country needs to build more houses as fast as it can.

Surely any new stadium will have a roof? Seems a bit mad to build a stadium in Manchester and not have a roof (assuming you'll have concerts etc. there)

Maybe they just pull that net thing over like a big den..?

Feel like it would be better if they lessened the 'net' look and had the spires on the actual edges of the stadium (two on one end and one at the other) to create the trident effect.

In fairness, I've made my point on this and accept I should shut up now (I will).

On the second part, probably needs its own thread. I also remain pessimistic we wont see a repeat of what happened to local residents in Newham / Wembley etc.

Our elevated dugout would've made more sense. The pitch slope??

I do like that the players still come out of the corner - even those that’s far from an original feature, but does give OT an unusual feature compared to most grounds coming out of the middle of the pitch.
I know the idea of maintaining a smaller version of Old Trafford for the youth and women's sides was financially unviable, but it would be amazing if they could keep the pitch. A public football facility for local fans to use on the original Old Trafford pitch would be amazing.
There is a pitch in the mockups. Whether that’s OT I don’t know?

The old seats will probably be packaged as souvenirs and sold by the club store. As they should be, a nice reminder for the old fans who frequented Old Trafford.

The pitch, sadly cannot be done in the manner of say, the old Texas Stadium when the Dallas Cowboys moved to their new home - they cut the old artificial turf into star shaped sections and sold them to fans (the star being the logo of the team & Texas). That was a great idea and no doubt raised a fair bit of cash. United will sell the seats from OT, surely...but the pitch could be transported, perhaps forming part of one of the garden areas surrounding the new complex?
I think that would be a great idea.

Theres something about me being able to take my lad or my future grandkids and be able to point at where Georgie Best, Duncan Edwards or Beckham graced the pitch.

Look at highbury even - the pitch is a communal garden for the apartments.

Losing that connection to whats been before will be sad.

Also, i hope you are right about the seats - look forward to explaining to the misses that iv blown our annual holiday budget on a pair of sun bleaches plastic chairs to replace our living room sofa lol!

If the players don't bungee onto the pitch from those turrets, to the sound of Boston's 'more than a feeling' then it's a complete bust, quite frankly

I appreciate having a design that's completely different to anything I've ever seen, but I do wonder how shit that glass is gonna look in reality. Think of all the bird shit that's gonna accumulate on there!
That's part of the regeneration for the Manchester area, just imagine all the new employment that this project will generate.

Looks awesome but at the same time it screams "ye filthy monthly wage earner will never set foot in me!!"

I actually like it. I also remain sceptical that it will ever see the light of day. I just don't understand how we can finance it with the state the club is in?

No new stadia have roofs. The Prinipaity was built 25 years ago now. There’s just no need.

Gigs will always be in the summer, and it doesn’t matter if it rains.

Should have done everything possible to remain at Old Trafford, this is only about making the Glazers more money in the long term, 115 years down the drain

My first reaction was WTF…. But after reading and understanding that the towers tie to the trident and on a clear day can be seen from Liverpool is the sort of ominous we are coming for you type of thing that is pretty cool.

I’m not sure how I feel about the tent once somebody says circus. It’s hard to get it out of your mind. Definitely looks like something from an Arab nation, but the Qataris did not buy us.

You can tell they were going for some thing like the Wembley of the north and wanted it to be unique and have a light up feature similar to Wembley. So tied that to our trident otherwise it would end up looking like Wembley. I’m sure.
Honestly, I think they could’ve done better with the top. The trident is not bad. But it would’ve been nice to have some of the white rigging elements like old Trafford. So a new exciting stadium with a nod to the past.

Can we not get someone to sponsor it...ie Qatar

Qatar Old Trafford?

Amazon Old Trafford

Old Trafford powered by Snapdragon.

And to be totally honest I wouldn’t be against it, because we’d all call it Old Trafford anyway

Looks great but how have they not included a video screen inside? 100K stadium is massive so would think the field will be tiny for the fans in the nosebleeds

In my simple brain having a company like INEOS as co-owners does make the project more achievable...or makes it feel more achievable.

It was interesting to hear how they could make it else where and ship it in down the canal haha...sounds crazy at first but then you can't help feeling like its more reality than just a fancy promo.

Whatever happens it's exciting, if you can't be excited about today's news and your first instinct is to moan and grown then no design would ever be good enough.

The one thing I like about this new stadium is that it’s going to be LOUD.

If we get the playing side improved, we’re going to become a fortress again, people will be afraid to come here.
