Just saw the full interview, the new stadium is hugely dependent on the government committing to the biggest regeneration project this country has ever seen. Given our governments' track record, I'm very doubtful that this actually happens. I think they'll unveil the stadium design tomorrow but with a massive caveat.

No, just adding things up. A major announcement likely confirming a new build 100k seater stadium and other details usually come with hero images of project and also a bit of wishful thinking from my side.

Oooff, I'd love that!

I'll believe it when I see it. Absent some details on the financing, this is all just pie in the sky PR fantasy.

How do they plan to fund the stadium? We know the club cannot afford it from its operating income. We know naming rights won't cover it. We know the government won't contribute towards the build cost of the stadium itself.

Let's see what's announced tomorrow...

They'll announce plans tomorrow subject to the government going ahead with regen project in my opinion

We've got massive rebuild on our hands as well.

Will have to sell the naming rights. Will be a necessary evil

Selling the naming rights for Old Trafford would have been unacceptable to me, but if they're replacing Old Trafford with a brand new stadium then I don't really give a shit what that new stadium is called.

There's maybe a good reason for this, why do most (all?) new stadiums in this country not have retractable roofs?

Wonder how much debt the club take on for the new stadium. Both the Glazers and Ineos are far too cheap to put any of their own money in

I had been torn on the topic for quite some time and I still occasionally doubt my answer because of Old Trafford's rich history. Given the current state of the stadium alongside hearing about the expansion issues regarding the proximity of a railway line and canal I would be leaning towards a new stadium (I do hope to visit Old Trafford before any changes as I have never been before)

Ratcliffe has put in 300 million as a minority owner. What a crazy statement.

It seems pretty clear that Ratcliffe sees this as his legacy... probably moreso than the team being successful. Although I would imagine he'd want the team playing in his fancy new stadium to be good.

Jesus. The end of days. Honestly I'll be sick if we actually do away with Old Trafford for some rubbish like that.

Yeah I really hope they’ve been a bit more creative than a basic bowl design - not holding out hope though!

The way Gary was gushing at the end of the SJR interview gives me hope, but no idea what his taste in football stadia is like.
