Television Dexter: Original Sin

I think you'll find younger Dexter looked like this:

so this entire series is just Dexter on the table having been shot (or whatever happened to him, I can't remember as I've blocked out that entire New Blood series) and his life flashing before his eyes, until he's miraculously saved and then leads into Dexter: Resurrection.

Actually looks okay I think. That voiceover is really making me want to watch Dexter again though.

Might actually be decent! I like that they have Hall onboard doing the inner voice.

Yep, this makes sense

Some of these younger versions make it look a bit like a spoof/parody.

The original was very good initially - went on too long though.

The original series was one of my favourites and I think this one will actually be good too.

I loved Divinity: Original Sin 2 so looking forward to this, Larian have been on a roll lately. Pretty big departure for them but I trust it.

Think it looks rubbish from the trailer. I'll give it a try just for the voice over, but looks flimsy at best

Glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. It feels like the bar has fallen so low with seasons 5 to 8, that anything flies now with fans.

That trailer didn't give me much faith it was going to be good. Really felt like it was some poor fan made version. Having Hall as the voice at least might make it passable

The trailer looks decent because they have probably shown all the best bits in it. When this gets dragged out over 12 episodes with only four episodes worth of plot like the original series did after season 4 it will quickly become tiresome.

Surprised no one has bumped the thread.

Just watched the first episode and enjoyed it!

Also!!

Took me around 20 mins to get over the feeling that this is some cheap Dexter porno/parody but it's not terrible once you can get past that.

I enjoyed it. Young Deb actor has the original's voice and mannerisms down. Young Masuka NAILED the laugh. Not seen enough of young Batista but he's got the look down anyway.

Overall I think they've done a good job. Will have to see how they build on from here to
Harry's suicide
. One nitpick I do have is that they had Dexter's hair cut at the end of the episode. In the flash backs of the original series Michael C. Hall did still have that long hair well after but will let it be as I guess it'd look daft for Patrick Gibson to have that hair throughout the show.

Yeah I was quite disappointed that they still had their clothes on after that 20 minutes

It seems to have good ratings on IMDb so I gave it a try but it seems so cheap and poorly written after the first 20 minutes. Also the constant shoving of 80s songs in is very distracting. Hope it gets better.

Think they have stopped doing the latter 3 episodes in, or I stopped noticing it.

It’s actually not too bad, think the actors are okay. Although Masuka annoying as ever. It does feel a little bit like a bunch of parodies of the characters though.

Yep, it really does.

And now apparently the are working on ANOTHER Dexter prequel - this time about Trinity Killer, with John Lithgow providing the voiceover. I don't know who needs this (well, the people who hope to make money of it do).

Years after the original Dexter ended, they've really been milking it in a very short space of time. This is the FOURTH new series within about three years.

This is much better than I expected based on the first two episodes. Definitely hit a groove now and Patrick Gibson is a vety convincing young Dexter.

It’s kinda … goofy and not particularly well made yet manages to still nail the Dexter tone and be fun, is the best way I can put it.

Yeah I think the same, I think Slater is really good too. Kind of made me want to have a re run of the original show. Or the first four seasons at least (though I always had a soft spot for S6)

Nice twist in the latest episode. I’m enjoying this more than I expected.
