I've started making some football compilations and wanted to do some on the more humble professionals (Kante, Mane etc). My first one is on Kante, and whilst researching him I found out some really interesting stuff about his past (Such as being a rubbish collector!) and his journey to becoming a World Cup Champion. I'd appreciate if you could view and let me know your thoughts?

If by that you mean is he well grounded by having a normal job then it’s very admirable and shows a strong ethic towards work/life in general.

We have several Chelsea #7 kits in our household. More to do with the man he is, rather than his football.

Yeah usually people go for attacking players names on the back of thier shirt, but Kante is defo a good choice due to his persona! More kids should look to him as a rolemodel above other players.

The title is a bit odd. I could hate him, if I wanted to.

If I had an idol in football it would be N´Golo Kante, if I bought a football shirt, it would be one of N´Golo Kante, he’s the man!

I can actually believe it. Infact, he would be the kind of guy who would feel like he was imposing.
Yeah that's what I meant. He's so shy and timid, I assumed he would've 100% refused as to not impose.

Can we all just take a moment and remember that many people here were comparing Fred to Kante, and some even said Fred is better.

One of a kind player, seriously one of the best I have ever seen in his role.

As good as I've ever seen him tonight. He was absolutely everywhere and along with his iron lung and insatiable appetite for work, he showed some real quality on the ball as well.

Slow start to the game but bloody hell he grew into it. He was the best player on the pitch by a mile by the end.

Saved Saliba’s blushes too.

What a magnificent player. I would never have thought he still had those performances in his locker after years of injuries and one season in S.A.

Weren't his knees supposed to be ruined??
Yes but I suppose playing in a low intensity league for a year has maybe helped him recuperate? He kept breaking down in the PL. Could barely get through 3 consecutive games without needing a few weeks out.

Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, World Cup, World Club Cup, Super Cup. Only needs the European Championships to complete the set.

Pretty huge for France if he can output like that throughout the tournament!

Had a surprising amount of energy and ability to get around thhr pitch quickly, considering his age and where he plays currently. My eyebrow was raised when I saw him start, I figured he'd be mostly a cheerleader who can also offer experience to the group. But it seems he can still play a bit too.

No it was never his knees. He had recurring hamstring problems at Chelsea because the medical staff run by dipshits kept trying to treat him conservatively - dating back to when it initially occurred at the tail end of 18/19 yet he still played in the EL final that year. He finally had the surgery and then played more or less every game in the Saudi league.

Honestly he's a victim of the short term thinking that has plagued Chelsea for decades now. Obviously thrilled for him that he's back contributing at a high level but I'm not surprised at all. The only upside is that the same thing kept happening to Reece James and he also just had the same surgery that Kante did.

Oh right? Wow, well if that's the case, your clubbed robbed itself of a few good years.

He looked like his old/true self out there tonight; just boosts France to another level as a midfield and team.

Yeah it's definitely the case. To (ever so slightly) defend Chelsea's medical team, Kante would routinely come back and play at a tremendous level from the get go. Could be wrong of course but personally felt there was the sense that he'd never complain if something was bothering him and would give 110% even if he wasn't physically capable.

Like I said, only upside is that Chelsea recognised the need for surgical intervention with James because it's the same injury - and while no one will ever match Kante's workrate, he and James both had/have a propensity to come back sooner than is advisable.

The way he turns on the afterburners after Saliba's mistake :nervous:. His legs just went into overdrive.

How come he’s back in the France team? What happened to their next generation of midfielders?

None of them are better than him still. It was always a matter of fitness with him, this season, even if it was the Saudi, he played a lot of games and was performing. A no brainer really
