Yeah that's a very valid pointTell that to Louis.

This is what happens when you reward mediocrity, the man is delusional and sees no fault of his in this disaster. Probably feels vindicated and won't concede a thing. These amateurs have shown that they fear fan perception so much and he is going to go for broke and run rings around them and before we know it we'd have spent a billion for a few Cups.Like I said last night and have been saying for ages. He has a veto. That’s why the proposed new contract is necessary.

There is no manager, on any level, who would accept that kind of stuff. Especially the guy who doesn't even want to accept that "Veto" thing. This is huge BS.Tweet

And if there is will you come back and tell us all that you told us so?There will be a lot of "I told you sos" one way or another in this thread by the end of next season.
You do realise there is only certain journos that can be trusted and these two aren't on that listThis is what happens when you reward mediocrity, the man is delusional and sees no fault of his in this disaster. If he is reluctant to cede transfer control then its a legitimate reason to sack him as we aren't aligned.
The mythical manager doesn’t exist.Whilst this may be true, who's the mythical manager who might be available if they have to pull the trigger on him in 6 months, or before? Or even next summer?
There are arguably two outstanding managers in world football currently, being Pep and Klopp, neither of whom are every likely to manage United. So, as usual in the manager market there's a host of potentially top class managers, all of whom will have red flags; either inexperience at the top level, or failures at a club. The situation will be the same next summer, and probably the summer after. Other clubs will take a punt on some of those managers, just like United did with Ten Hag. City may be in the market.
They may have made the right long term call in not going with one of the other candidates but the suggestion (albeit in the press) that they'd decided to sack him and have now changed their mind is concerning. If they're going to be a success they need to be decisive because football moves fast. All succesful clubs need to identify and appoint new managers from the same pool.
Sensible take, pretty much how I look at it as well.Let’s hope that he has become humble enough to learn from the mistakes last season. If he can do that he may last. If he can’t then I expect more results and performances like the season just ended and he will be out of a job by Christmas.
I really don’t see this as a thing to celebrate since the jury is pretty much still out on him. The pressure this season will be enormous and there can be no excuses.
however glad that we can now move on with preparing for the new season. Time will tell if INEOS got it right or wrong.
no need for people to be insulting each other. We all want what’s best for United.
Hah. Weren’t the same rumours that Brailsford was the one who was most keen on Southgate? It’s all just jumbled up nonsenseSounds like to me Wilcox was the one that still wanted to sack him while Brailsford and possibly others at INEOS were in favour of keeping him.

Yes, it’s very positive? We apparently had the worst season ever with the worst injury crisis we’ve had and yet we were 8 points off CL places and won a cup. Even if we sign nobody but have better injury luck, do you not think it’s reasonable to think we’d do better? Add in a few new players and I’d say it’s very reasonable to think we can then bridge the gap back to the CL places?
Chelsea had an even more injury riddled campaignWas this confirmed by anyone?
I said many times; Liverpool had best approach (during Edwards era). Manager says position which he needs (and traits for that position), DoF and his staff find couple of players and manager can choose between them.surely every manager has a veto on signings. It's not like they'll go "SURRPISE!!!!! We've just signed Jadon Sancho's twin brother, have fun"
They will surely work with a list of players that recruitment and manager are comfortable with and then go from there. If the manager really wants a player, but the club don't think he'd be the right fit, they'd veto as well

Was some serious guess work by theAthletic journalists with weeks of such speculation where they had Ten Hag sacked already and various managers lined up .Tweet

feck Steinberg. Do you support the club or the media?Steinberg vindicated
He really wasn't.Steinberg vindicated
But more than twice as many suitable replacements to copeChelsea had an even more injury riddled campaign
Right, it's about the drop off innit? But more than twice as many suitable replacements to cope
You can check my post history, I've been wanting him gone for a while.Chelsea had an even more injury riddled campaign
There are actually more than that’s it just the loses have come in bigger score lines that we colour the issue. I was of course being glib and even though we had a horrible season we still had some good performances in his tenure. That's about it really, the list of pros is considerably shorter but had more emotional moments. Personally I enjoyed the Liverpool win more than City, I dont know if its because deep down i knew ten hag coudl stay if we won or if because City were so shite that day.
I'd guess that De Zerbi wanted more overall control of matters than we would allow. Don't know about Tuchs. That article definitely makes me wonder what caused negotiations to end with Tuchel and De Zerbi
Probably didn't like Ineos and Ineos didn't like their "we take no shit from stupid owners" personalities. That article definitely makes me wonder what caused negotiations to end with Tuchel and De Zerbi

I don't want to back a manager that gave us the worst league performance in 35 years and our worst Champions League performance in 10.What part of what I said was wrong?
I'm no 'ETH defender'. There's no need to split the fanbase into two camps. I've been dissatisfied with what I've seen over the last 12 months, however I was responding to a poster who said Van Gaal was sacked for less. He really wasn't. Van Gaal's football was worse than what we saw last season.
So you will only support the team and manager during good times and not the tough ones. got it.I don't want to back a manager that gave us the worst league performance in 35 years and our worst Champions League performance in 10.
No, I support the club not the manager. And managers like ETH are part of the reason we even HAVE bad times. It's not just players or the board. So you will only support the team and manager during good times and not the tough ones. got it.
Perfectly rational response.feck Steinberg. Do you support the club or the media?
No, I support the club not the manager. And managers like ETH are part of the reason we even HAVE bad times. It's not just players or the board.
Why should I "back the manger" when that manager is awful and dragged the team down with his awful tactics and wasted millions of our money on bad players to the extent we now have a paltry budget this season and have to sell to buy?So it shouldn't matter who the manager is?
If you support the club but dont wont back the manager, what will you do next season, hope we lose so he gets sacked?
