Darren Fletcher wasn't Tech. Director? My point: Fletcher isn’t in the position you think he is

People who lose their mind to every tweet they read would do well to read this, many times, and contemplate what it might imply for other tweetsIt's worth flagging he did not write this tweet. He probably addressed the situation as part of his normal agenda of youtube videos and just said no update, wel find out in the next hours or days.
It's not tweet worthy for him, there's no update. But an aggregator has tweeted it.
Most of us don't go out of our way to find these pointless tweets, I'm not really sure why people bother posting them in here, unless its to wind folk up.People who lose their mind to every tweet they read would do well to read this, many times, and contemplate what it might imply for other tweets
It would be such a bad decision that I don't think INEOS would actually recover from it (from the fans point of view). Someone should lose their job over a hiring like that.Does anybody think that sacking ETH and bringing in Southgate is anything but utterly stupid and a disaster? Surely things can't have gone this badly wrong?
That was the job title but it didn’t match with the job he actually does. His work primarily was providing support to kids making the jump to first team, Mainoo etc.Darren Fletcher wasn't Tech. Director?
Hard to tell what is worse, keeping ETH after this season or bringing Southgate...yea it's bringing Southgate. We all will and that's what makes you wonder what's going on upstairs.
You can't finish 8th at Man Utd and expect to keep your job. However, just imagine we start the season with Southgate and get smashed in the Community Shield: Ten Hag's last game at United will have been winning at Wembley against Pep, Southgate's first will be getting demolished at Wembley by Pep. The contrast will be clear to everyone and the fans, who never wanted Southgate in the first place, will go absolutely ballistic.
After that Gareth will be onto a hiding. Unless we go on the kind of run we did when Ole first came in, all of us will just be waiting for him to fail. Its what we expect and at the first sign of trouble that confirmation bias will spread around Old Trafford like a pandemic. Don't tell me the players won't be affected. Seeing the club turn down Champions League and title winning coaches to go for Gareth Southgate only to see it all go to s-t.
Sacking Ten Hag for Southgate is setting us up for a horrible season.
Makes you think it can't be real. And yet...It would be such a bad decision that I don't think INEOS would actually recover from it (from the fans point of view). Someone should lose their job over a hiring like that.
I think Southgate is probably just a fall back plan in case ETH doesn't agree to a new contract, refuses to accept their terms (there may be some haggling over the extent of transfers control in his remit). Eventually we will get ETH to agree to a 3-4 year extension and Southgate links will disappear.
Real Madrid were ready to do it with Lopetegui, so you never know. There is literally zero chance Southgate is going to be the manager, he's feckin preparing for a major tournament with a national team at the minute
Not a hope they are willing to go into a season that underprepared.
Yeah I couldn't care less. It was the point I was making. That was the job title but it didn’t match with the job he actually does. His work primarily was providing support to kids making the jump to first team, Mainoo etc.
the fact people are confused by the title is exactly why SJR and his team will rebrand his title
You were correct in your point with murtough, just not with Fletcher. No biggieYeah I couldn't care less. It was the point I was making.
A fall back plan for something he doesn't need to agree too? The club can trigger his additional year if needed to buy time. If this is their thinking process we best get ready for Glazers 2.0I think Southgate is probably just a fall back plan in case ETH doesn't agree to a new contract, refuses to accept their terms (there may be some haggling over the extent of transfers control in his remit). Eventually we will get ETH to agree to a 3-4 year extension and Southgate links will disappear.
Just crossed wires. I know the point you're making, but I wasn't necessarily talking literally. Just someone that high up would be in charge hiring a head of department, not EtH.You were correct in your point with murtough, just not with Fletcher. No biggie
Bloody hell, this is getting old.I think Southgate is probably just a fall back plan in case ETH doesn't agree to a new contract, refuses to accept their terms (there may be some haggling over the extent of transfers control in his remit). Only "getting"Bloody hell, this is getting old.
Didn't realize he had an optional year in there. Thought it was just another year.A fall back plan for something he doesn't need to agree too? The club can trigger his additional year if needed to buy time. If this is their thinking process we best get ready for Glazers 2.0
Didn’t we hire LvG when he was at an international tournament? There is literally zero chance Southgate is going to be the manager, he's feckin preparing for a major tournament with a national team at the minute

I've been expecting ETH to stay when everyone thought his job was at risk with many certain he would go.Bloody hell, this is getting old.
At this point I dont know if you're parodying TenHagEra or he's using your posts as his source.I think Southgate is probably just a fall back plan in case ETH doesn't agree to a new contract, refuses to accept their terms (there may be some haggling over the extent of transfers control in his remit). A few weeks before actually. Was confirmed on the 19th of May 2014.Didn’t we hire LvG when he was at an international tournament?
The wouldnt be speaking to other managers if they were offering Erik a new contractI think Southgate is probably just a fall back plan in case ETH doesn't agree to a new contract, refuses to accept their terms (there may be some haggling over the extent of transfers control in his remit). They wouldn't be doing it this publicly that's for sure. It's possible that there is a ETH-out faction in INEOS that is leaking to undermine him but it seems very unlikely unless Ratcliffe approved. They are super disciplined with their public messaging. So he's getting canned as soon as they find a replacement who buys into their project. The wouldnt be speaking to other managers if they were offering Erik a new contract
That seems plausible. What definitely seems clear now, is is that if ETH stays, it won't be because that was the owners' preferred choice. Its getting more bizarre by the day. If they were going to sack him, they should've done it immediately. Likewise if they were going to retain him. The so called "review" we keep hearing about could've been conducted in the final two weeks of the season, not during a time when action should be taken. My only guess here is that Tuchel didn't work out, so now SJR is left to decide between De Zerbi and retaining ETH.
It's fine to see what your options are. End of the day ETH is our best choice, and if this is the conclusion it feels natural to reward him with a new deal. The wouldnt be speaking to other managers if they were offering Erik a new contract
To the contrary, I don't see how he can go. We've already left it very late, and with each passing day it would be more and more ridiculous to dismiss him. Who waits week after season concludes before parting with their manager?I don't see how he stays after all this. I really hope INEOS have a suitable successor lined up.
That's my guess. And I don't entirely believe the reports we got this weekend, I suspect that Tuchel was the favorite but for whatever reason things didn't pan out.Its getting more bizarre by the day. If they were going to sack him, they should've done it immediately. Likewise if they were going to retain him. Managers are sacked mid season all of the time, which is arguably worse. The club will have transfers lined up, which is why INEOS brought in the likes of Berrada and Ashworth. To the contrary, I don't see how he can go.
