He's done if Romano is right. They don't contact other coaches at this stage "just in case", as he's claiming. He'll be sacked when he gets back from his holiday.
The club talking to other coaches isn't really news though, we've known that since before the cup final. It's entirely possible they've met with other coaches and weren't too pleased with the available options. Or worst case scenario, they'd rather wait a few months for Southgate to become available.

Yep, and especially in football where things can change so quickly. It pays to be in regular contact, especially if we are taking to long to review. There would be a real danger of starting an irreversible course of action only to then find the preferred option is no longer available otherwise.

Ten Hag must be waiting for the payoff from United. If they are actively looking to recruit a new manager and are still holding discussions with potential suitors then it seems his time is up, why else would he stick around knowing he’s not the preferred option.

Maybe once the review is done they can perform review of that review just to be sure. Seriously from not having a lot of football people now it seems that we have too much of them and they can’t decide what to do. If the FA cup was not the part of the equation they could assume two scenarios (what to do when he loose it and what to do when he wins). The only good thing is that there are far less leaks than before and media seems to have no clue.

Yep. On the positive they shouldn't take long with the replacement when the axe drops.

Generally managers negotiate deals for themselves and the staff members that followed them.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus

Yeah but to be making contact still now, I'm not buying it. They wouldn't be doing that if they were leaning towards keeping in my opinion. I might be wrong.

Scared of making a decision because of fan backlash so they’re coming across as the same incompetent board we’ve put up with for the last 15 years.

Everybody knew they wanted him out it was reported everywhere they look like idiots whilst making ETH also look stupid keeping him waiting, imagine being in his position when it’s widely reported that we’ve interviewed multiple people for his job it’s a complete farce.

Instead, we have Glazers 2.0. Weak, miserly, and incompetent.
It's actually unfair on the Glazers.

Even if it was callous and horribly managed by Woodward, at least they were decisive when they replaced LVG. Pretty decisive sacking Moyes and Mourinho as well (but completely failed to back him at the key moment)

Maybe he does know?
Too many respectable outlets are saying he still doesnt know. That means they're talking to his agent. Likes of Kaveh from Sky.

They cant be doing this if they have any intention of keeping him.

Obviously I dont want Ten Hag kept on, but the way Ineos have acted in this is horrendous. Ten Hag should be livid whatever the outcome.

Only reason I can think of is that its a fluid situation and they're keeping their options open in order to avoid a Bayern level embarrassment if they get turned down.

Any review could not have been completed fairly until after the FA Cup final.

The trend was clearly leaning toward sack with the expectations everyone had (losing finalists and 8th place in the league) but the success at Wembley changed the parameters (won a trophy and qualified for European competition, not to mention the manager's relationship with the players).

INEOS are conducting their due diligence interviewing managers but with the way things turned out I think it's harder to justify sacking him now. This is a results business and a trophy and European qualification is not too shabby.

The ends may not fully justify the means but we made the EL and consigned one rival to a worse competition and the other to none at all ().

bruh we had the worst season I have ever seen.
If we are in the results business he absolutely should be sacked
Knockout competitions can be fluked
League positions don’t lie.

We finished 8th ffs

I actually think he will be okay professionally, which will take the sting out of it. We have been such a basket case that many clubs will not view him as a failure for his time here.

Think of the review the way we use to do transfers. Thinking about placing an offer. Working on it. Preparing...still preparing.lowball offer incoming.

Also, who is reviewing the review? Surely it has to be reviewed. Maybe an investigation into the review?
Remember when all of that wasn't even a thing before people began ferociously lapping up every single tweet anyone thought to post?

It can be to project that the review was thorough. They looked at other options too but ETH came out on top.

I am 80% sure it'll be ETH.
15% it's DeZerbi.
5 % it's Tuchel.

I also think the longer this drags on the more likely he’s staying. According to reports before the final he was as good as gone, and if they aren’t knee jerk and change their opinion on the back of one game then their minds should already be made up by now. I know there’s also the possibility they’re negotiating with another manager behind the scenes and are getting everything lined up first before pulling the trigger but I think that’s unlikely. It’s far too big a story for there not to be leaks of some sort coming out if that were the case.
Yeah looks like they have decided to keep him, like you say there is no way that leaks about a new manager wouldn't have got out somehow

Yes and as I said the end of the season changed things so now they have to revisit everything.

Yes but our tendency was to fire managers when they could no longer qualify for Europe. With the FA Cup we have done that. I think it makes sacking him more difficult now.

Ah ok, I thought you meant Ten Hag. Would have been some wild scenes if that happened.

Ineos: "We are fully behind Ten Hag and look forward to a successful future under him"

ETH: "Sorry Jim, I quit. I'm off to Feyenoord"
 god no. I'm just playing devils advocate for Ineos here, if they went and sacked him and then struggled to hire a replacement then they'd look like fools. And though I don't think ETH deserves another season, I also find it hard to believe he could do worse than this one. I would just prefer not to waste another year going nowhere.
