Why? Because he doesn't want to live in past? Would you be happy coming on new job and everybody saying: "previous guy did that and that" or "he did it in other way around".
Personally i think that it is exactly what we need; stop talking about United way, how Fergie did this and that and other stuff. Lets give new manager clean start to implement his way of doing things.
I just think he's not the man to build up our club. The example you quoted shows that Klopp and Tuchel worked together at Mainz but they couldn’t be more different in terms of management style. I think Tuchel is more knowledgeable tactically speaking. And crazier. Tuchel has no empathy whatsoever. He's a journeyman, who will stay 2-3 years at the club, fight with everyone and leave in a heap.

THat's all.

Would take him ahead of Potter and Southgate
Agreed. You need someone with medals to motivate our lot. Having won the CL, domestic leagues in German and France, the man knows how to deliver trophies.

Yes he has his issues, but what manager doesn't? If he limited to the first team and freed up from the other responsibilities i.e. Radcliffe and co, following the model in continental Europe then he could be successful.

Hope we are capable of more thought and study of what we need to do going forward now, hiring this guys smells of a Woodward move.

All this talk of him not being a long term appointment, can we stop with the thought process that every manager that comes through the door is going to have a fergie like long term reign.

There is nothing wrong having a manager for just two year as long as we are proactive in the future in Looking for improved replacement

Between ETH and Tuchel...there's no contest! But I'd like to know else we are talking to as surely we must, because we cannot possibly be thinking that ETH gets another season.

Here is the potential: potentially sacked after 1 season of no progress.

No. Doesn't develop young players.
I wouldn't mind seeing him here, wouldn't be super excited either. But think he would be an upgrade on EtH.

Why do you say that though? In fairness, I haven't followed his record enough, but he was more than willing to play Mount and James ar Chelsea, and they improved massively under him?

Makes the most sense, Erik is in no mans land and the job opening is on the detriment of how poor his management has been. If Tuchel comes in shores up the midfield positionally, it's hardly the worst foundation to build from with Bruno, Case and Mainoo at the base of it all.

Bayern is such a weird club. Why would anyone connected to the club speak like that about their manager?
Because the manager is not considered a deity there, just another employee. Similar to how managers at times criticize the players, Bayern hierarchy at times criticizes the manager.

Same for other big clubs whose goal is winning titles not being a worshiping institution for the manager.

Not over the moon at the thought, and it would be very much short-term... but Ten Hag has lost the dressing room and a change is needed unfortunately. There are no top managers available. Is what it is.

I don't think Tuchel is the right man for the job. The team needs to be rebuilt from the ground up and I don't think Tuchel is the right man to do that.

HELLO
Don’t really care who the manager is, just that they’ve bought in on a long term approach.

if he comes and he’s expecting us to sign 29 year olds because we can’t get someone from the Barca midfield he can feck off

Nevertheless, while I think he is a far better manager than ten Hag (who isn’t?), I feel that the best ways are past him and it would be a Mourinho-like appointment. I would prefer someone a bit less high-profile but who has a history of developing players / building a squad.

You are not building anything with Bruno and Casemiro in midfield , while Mainoo is good relative to his age he has still all to prove .

Tuchel would be another short sighted appointment which would most likely end up in disaster while subjecting us to another couple of years of dull and uninspiring football , don't you think we had enough of it already .

Probably not a long term solution but would like to see how he would fare in a handful of games. At least he's more attack minded.

In 2022 he was the only manager I was wanted more than this fraud that currently manages our team. I hope rumours of Sir Jim reaching out are true as I love his style. A strong tactical base is important for any team and I'm certain he can provide excellent coaching. Plus he doesn't take any shit from anybody which is something these players need.

I was disappointed when he went to Chelsea back in 2021, but I don’t want him after his disappointing spell at Bayern. Nevertheless, he’s probably the best candidate available.

I think his reputation as hot headed is a bit of an unfair judgment when you look at the lubs he has been at, psg has long been a bit of toxic place for managers, he was doing OK at Chelsea until boehly took charge and wanted to do everything his way including a new manager and we can see the mess he made of that now, Bayern are the same where their directors are constantly undermining managers.

One thing for sure, when he has left clubs they have struggled to match the same heights he took them to

Because they already sacked him (effective at the end of the season) when it looked like it ends up a terrible season. No one asked questions, if you don't win stuff in a season, you are gone as a Bayern manager.

But by now there is real danger that they might win the CL, so the board needs additional reasons to not look stupid in all this. Even reaching the semifinal lead to the first questions if Tuchel might stay after all.

I think even if Madrid beat Bayern in the semi final questions will be asked by fans. I mean, when Nagelsmann signed a new contract with Germany they were pretty much left with managers not on the level of Tuchel.

I mean Bayern are being linked with Rangnick atm.

There already is a petition signed by more than 10,000 fans to make Tuchel stay. Questions are already being asked, this is kind of an answer.

Then the Bayern directors are really pushing themselves into the corner then with these type of comments. I don't see how they can extend Tuchel even if they were forced to by the fans, after that.

Unless they actually think Rangnick is a better option ? :nervous:

At this point, why even think long term. Most of the elite clubs don't. We're the only ones who are still romanticising about finding the next Fergie.

As long as Tuchel wins us some major trophies, I could care less if he fecks off in 2-3 years time after causing a meltdown.

Especially when the new management wants to run the club in the head coach model and not the Manager model of old. If the people at the top are confident in their ability to find the right players and squad then all of this long term talk of the manager needs to go.
