Some fans are so invested in this saga, that they'll rationalise any reason to give them hope.
We typically see this in the transfer sagas.
The favourite excuse is, "The deal is done, but we are waiting for the New York Stock Exchange to open".
If it's that sort of comfort we're looking for then we should note it's Eid next week, many in the Gulf would've already started their holidays today and won't be back until early July. The deal's done but we're just waiting for the feasts to be consumed and for them to re-emerge from a weeklong post-meal nap.
To be fair, we do that anyway.
You'd really hope at this point one bid would have a higher preference than "slightly more favorable". Come on you indecisive pricks, when will it end?

so from Reuters, it went from "negotiating exclusivity" a week ago to now "slightly more favorable"?
To be honest, he said a lot about nothing here. Other than Sheikh Jassim being more favourable, everything else is still how it has been for months with every option still on the table. Similar to how SJR was more favourable a few weeks ago. It’s a classic Glazer shitshow.

This has hilariously broken the Reuters credibility. Why write an article that purposely insinuates breaking news, discussing exclusivity, and then backtrack more than two weeks later by saying there may be another round of bids.
Sorry you have literally had many posts mocking you. It’s unfortunate that people conduct themselves in that way. It’s really sad you feel that way and I wish there was an easier answer.
Tbh I didn’t even find the initial article that convincing in terms of genuine progress. The article stating the Sheikh was discussing getting exclusivity is basically the point both parties have been trying to get to for months and still are. Actually obtaining exclusivity itself is a different story but that’s not what they reported.

This is my point though. It's a nothing update and they released clickbait headlines in a bid to sound like they get information before anyone.
Said it a few days ago but when we get these periods of silence, it’s never a good thing. The next thing that comes out will always be negative and regarding a delay

After watching the entire interview, one can't help but wonder whether his article last week revealed anything substantially newsworthy at all. There are several times in the interview where he reiterates that nothing has happened in terms of the Glazers making any decision on exclusivity or anything similar, and that both parties are still in it, with Qatar viewed as slightly ahead of Ratcliffe at the moment.
Qatar moving ahead is fairly significant considering it's the first time that has been the case throughout the process.

For me, it looks as if Glazers are giving Jim every chance to come back with a higher bid, can’t see why they would go with their second favoured option. At least the exclusivity period is already hashed out on Qatars side to speed that up.

This interview didn't seem suggestive that it was that relevant. He appeared to go out of his way to let people know both sides are still in it, which is different from what many took from his article last week. Maybe he wanted to correct a misperception.
