Our defensive mishaps have become sort of accepted with Maguire in there but our offense did feck all tonight

I looked at the two in midfield and you realise no legs in there

Erik will do his interview and blame players for not following principles but is he really happy with what he served up tactically tonight?

If a manager cannot motivate players what's he doing?

Credit to Sevilla fans. Massively showed up our lacklustre atmosphere last week.

And you see the difference it can make.

Pitiful night. Big game Sunday.

According to the BBC, we had 16 shots at goal, 3 on target, Seville had 19, with 6 on target. I find that an amazing fact.
It looks as though everything was set up for Seville to progress, when we should have been outta sight at home at half time, the poor decision from Malacia, the unfortunate o.g. from Maguire, the stupid pass from De Gea to Maguire, the 'shoulder' goal from the corner, and the poor control from De Gea at the end. In effect the only decent goal they scored was deemed offside, the only bit of luck we got all game.
Let's hope the footballing Gods, who weren't smiling on us in this tie, will be smiling on us on Sunday.

Too many performances like tonight have happened this season, not good enough, there's a huge mentality issue within the squad that needs addressing this summer.

It starts by selling de Gea, Maguire, Lindelof, Sancho and Martial.

Absolute horrorshow from De Gea but the rest weren't much better.

I am... weary. We might make top 4. But does anyone believe we can get recruitment right? That next season and the one after that will be about anything other than yet another struggle for top 4? I don't.
The team looked poor, but we had a role in all five goals due to lack of quality and errors. If we replace Maguire and de gea, I think we go through.

I don't understand why the whole team collapses when one or two players makes those gaffes.
Real, Bayern and a whole dozen others go on fighting.
ManUtd it's like the team gets a halo effect when someone fcks up.
Very negative perception for viewers.
Lack of consequences. Its 2023 and we still had Maguire and Lindelof playing for us, they'd already been exposed in the europa in previous years. Alright they arent our first choice now, but they were still playing.

There seems to be a genuine belief that if you play like you dont want to be on the pitch, you'll still be in the squad the next year. And that should not be the case. It wouldnt be the case at those teams.

Maguircano.

If De Gea, Maguire and Martial are getting any meaningful minutes, this is how our seasons will go.

A striker, CB and CM are imperative this summer. Starting striker, rotation CB with Varane and someone who makes us not miss Eriksen/Casemiro when they don't play in midfield please.

I'm no Wan Bissaka fan, but if the budget doesn't stretch this summer, he can be the back up RB for another season. The other positions are way more important.
Names a GK, CB and ST as the issue but goes on to say we need a ST, CB and CM. What's the priority for you?

It happens all the time. I don't get it as well. We are a team with a small mentality.

Only managed the to catch the first 10 minutes, but it was enough to see how the whole thing would pan out. I was surprised to see so many here and in the media take them lightly and think going there to win would be a pretty straight forward task. I had a win there down as the 2nd best thing this season after knocking out Barca. It's a shame we didn't manage it but I wasn't really expecting it.

From those 10 minutes two things really stood out. That vicious challenge on Sabitzer which deserved a yellow and some afters from our players (did they deliver?) and that horrendous first goal we conceded. The backline (including de Gea) looked hopeless under their high pressure.

Silver lining is that ETH should know he needs to be ruthless this summer, but it didn't need further examples.

Case looked gassed, like completely. Looks like he needs a 3mnth holiday. Maguire should really be gone. Not even as a backup player, let alone captain. Martial really making a new definition of injury prone.
He has missed like 8 games suspended

De Gea, Maguire, Martial and Sancho must have all cemented their futures as only lying elsewhere today. If ETH thinks any differently he won't be in the job much longer than next season.
Sancho could conceivably turn it around given he's still young and has quality, though I accept he looks all over the place at the moment.

The rest need the bin, easier said than done though.

Feels like we're limping over the line again. Parasitic owners still hanging about like a bad smell. Starting to feel quite drained, and just want the season to end.

It's quite sad though. In January we were in 3 cups and even on the outskirts of a title race. A serious club with ambitious owners would have signed a couple of players to really push on in the second half of the new season. Capitalise on the momentum the new manager had created.

Instead we signed Wout Weghorst and Sabitzer on loan.
Yeah, it's near the end of April, the sale, if it happens at all, is nowhere near conclusion - it looks certain to drag into the summer so a window might be wasted.

But even if not. Limping is the right word. This club has been limping for a decade and I have no confidence it will change even with new owners.

Disappointing but not altogether unexpected performance. The drop in performance without our first X1 is too stark.
Nothing new that we learnt. DDG, Maguire, Sancho, Wout need to go. Replacements need to be brought in plus an additional midfielder. Replace Martial too as he clearly can’t remain fit for more than 2-3 games at a time.

Absolutely shambolic tonight but in reality we lost this tie last week in the last 10.

Concerning the way our heads drop when it’s not going to plan. There is a real petulance to the squad of late. (Shaws yellow and Antony lashing out again)

How embarrassing for the Premier League that this team is third. Absolute garbage.

Injuries and fatigue are killing the final part of our season. Disappointing but not a surprise, we knew the team has no quality depth to compete on 3 fronts.

Do not expect much from the semifinal with Brighton.
Let’ secure the 4th place and keep rebuilding in the summer

If anyone thinks that this is the worse to come, wait till Sunday when we will be utterly humiliated by Brighton...yes let that sink in Brighton, which have more competency in passing the ball than any of our lot could manage if they practiced between now and Subday non-stop

The only positive to take from tonight is that Ten Hag has to see that Maguire and de gea aren’t good enough for us. He must know already, but something like this he can’t ignore

We missed Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Bruno and Rashford from our starting eleven. This conditioned the game. That being said, our performance has been torrid.

We lacked belief, energy and desire. Sevilla wanted it much more than us. This, together with the individual errors, has penalized us.

I still believe De Gea should stay with us one more year with one young goalkeeper challenging him. However, Maguire should go. He has become a meme and his shambolic errors impact the rest of the team.

Eriksen has struggled against teams with high stamina this season and this has been the case today. Sabitzer is making merits not the be purchased. We should keep either Fred or him, but not both.

Sancho... He lost it. I think next year he needs to be used mainly as a 10 as a backup to Bruno. In the wing against high-block teams, he simply doesn't have the skill set to influence the game.

Only Antony, Martial and Casemiro seemed to care.

It may be a coincidence, but our performances have deteriorated a lot since the Glazers communicated that they want to sell the club.

It’s no surprise with the players on the pitch. We still have a good few head droppers, without Varane, Martinez and Bruno we have no leaders.

with our first XI we are decent, a few injuries and we are an awful side with no fight as no one takes it by the scruff of the neck
The likes of Antony and Martinez have that snarling, niggly attitude. Agree there are too many who go into their shells when things go wrong. If things are going wrong, you fight to put them right.

Reminds me of Liverpool under Klopp, early days. You can see the signs of a decent side, a style of play etc, but there’s a few players who aren’t up to it still. This was De Gea’s Karius moment. Just need to finish clearing out our Borini’s and Lallana’s. We’ll get there.

Gash tonight, mind.
This post just about sums it up, I think. We were never going to get through the ordeal of tonight’s away game with our ahem squad players. I remain sure that better owners and Erik will get us there.

Cowards.
A goalkeeper who couldn’t catch a bus.
A back four that can’t defend.
A midfield that can’t pass or create.
A front three that carries zero goal threat.
We are the famous Man Utd and we’re going to Wembley.

that was an absolute disgrace. Wan Bissaka, Maguire, Sancho (feckin useless Sancho), Martial, Fred, McTominay, Weghorst should never, ever be allowed wear a United shirt again. Not even in the pub. I have never seen cowardice like it. Do not give DeGea a new contract. Out you useless bastard.

Tonight, in the face of a team who were okay - not great - and a fan base who were passionate and loud, our cowards folded like a ten dollar suit. The cowardice in the squad quickly surfaced and the manager couldn’t fix it with the shite that was on the bench.

Now that all else has failed it is time to start Philip Jones at Wembley. What could possibly go wrong? Can’t be worse than tonight.

For feck sake……..

It's just amazing really. We have gone from subbing on Greenwood at PSG in the knockout stages of the cl, to subbing on Woughorst to try to equalize in the Europa League knockouts. And everyone seems to be thinking we are making progress. We are a club that should be giving homegrown talent a chance ahead of a 30 year old Burnley reject from the Netherlands. Clearly our manager does not understand our club.

Nobody fancied it apart from Antony. That was the disappointing thing. Commentators mentioned Liverpool away but this was like Brentford where they and the crowd just out-hustled us. Ten Hag fixed it then but surely now with the season ending it’s time to get ruthless with some of these players.

There’s no way we’re winning the FA Cup.
If we somehow get past Brighton on Sunday, barring a miracle, it’ll be City in the final.

People will obviously focus on the Maguire and DdG howlers as well as the Martial glass figurine performance but how Pellestri doesn't start ahead of Sancho and WW keeps playing ahead of any U15 striker is beyond me.

Even more weird is Fred didn't start in such a high-intensity game and it just feels there's an issue there - maybe he's not signing a new deal?

Let's just get top 4 now and put all our eggs into stopping that Citeh treble.

Finally, our captain missing really shows. He may not be my most beloved player but he brings energy and mentality that so many of these guys lack. Eriksen was certainly not up to it for one reason or another.

Maguire is done. He'll be off to Everton or Newcastle.

Sancho also needs to be careful. Could become another lost footballer.

DeGea is looking for a new contract... he'll get it but he should also be very careful.

There’s been a sobering performance round the corner that reminds us how far we are off a few times this season and this was one of those. The whole teams performance is more frustrating than the individual errors for me.

Anyone else count Maguire's touches when he receives the ball from Lindelof, seeing how long it takes him to make a pass, allowing the opposition to get set into their shape.

Honestly lads, once you see it, you can't unsee it.
