Anyone else feel a bit gutted?
I'm resigned to it now, there's simply no one we could have got as owners that would have been ideal. Not one potential owner suits ethically, simply put the richest people in the world are cnuts.

They will still only be custodians, the club will remain long after they leave, just like the Glazers. That can't be bought or sold.

Not sure why British journalists are not quoting figures. They had no problem quoting it for Qatar

Because he hasn’t released the figures that he bid?

I would imagine it’s sensible to wait and see what the actual proposal is before scrutinising, but where’s the fun in that.

I can't stress enough how much I don't want United sold to Qatar. :(

Right, it shouldn’t as well. Reckless acquisition of players will ruin the foundation ETH is constructing.

I also think Qatar will have seen City and Newcastle and be a bit more savvy with how they run us. Although Newcastle are still quite early on and doing well but y'know.

Ratcliffe's proposal is better than the Glazers. I guess I just want to aim a bit higher than 'better than the worst owners imaginable who have destroyed the soul of the club'

Put your hand in your own pocket Jim, commit openly to serious investment in the infrastructure which doesn't result in yet more debt - no matter which balance sheet it formally sits on

It genuinely sounds worse than the Glazers. If Qatar were out of the equation I'd genuinely be hoping another bid came in, even from American owners. If he was American instead of British absolutely everyone would be outraged.

I absolutely hope this does not happen for the sake of the club. Thank me later.

Well, I think we have to at least acknowledge that he is trying even though the task could be too much. I respect what he tries here.
He is deceiving the fans already. “Wallstreet” backing? I guarantee you that phrase was used because they researched “US investors” had a negative reaction amongst the fan base. I’d respect him if he didn’t exploit most peoples inability to assess situations for what they are.

Yes the Qatari guy probably needed approval to bid. But Jim Ratcliff will be tied in chains to the US investors who will want a return & profit on the billions they are putting up.

Sir Jim using the 'utd fan' card when he wanted to buy Chelsea. He's just clearly desperate to buy a big club, I don't for once believe the 'fan' in him bollocks

Its called sportswashing. Foremost they are dictators and want to keep power by establishing good relations with the west. Investment in the west is the best for this. most recently we have seen gulf states invest in sport, spending big money to get the F1 to Saudi Arabia, competing with the PGA tour by having an alternate tour where the money is better.

Sure they will hang homosexuals in their home country and whip women who leave the house with their knees showing. But they will gladly invest in women's football and allow the vessel club to promote LGBTQ rights, even if it is disingenuous.

Money goes a long way in having someone forfeit their moral conviction. Although after City and Newcastle accepted got taken over by Arabian dictatorships, its pretty much cut the grass for other premier league clubs to have their own dictator.

As for me, never will I surrender to the taliban. Arsenal & British till I die. No shit 350m for Neymar would ever cause me to forget who I am.
You need to have a look at your own club, donkey. Don't you play in the Emirates stadium?

Casual Xenophobia from British press. How is no one calling out the tone of the bid? Plus for Chelsea he was london born but for United he is local again?

Seems everyone has made up their mind Qatar or nothing.

I'm pretty sure it's been explained in great detail on here about Ineos they definitely have the money.Personally, I'd prefer Jim Ratcliffe which I'll probably get pelters for but hey ho.

Don't get me wrong, I despise the Glazers with for what they have done to our beloved club.
But I feel that everything that this club represents and has in terms of facilities, wealth and following was earned with blood, sweat and tears on the pitch. It is in the very fabric of this club. This is manchester united.
OT may start to leak and rust, but it will be our leaky and rusty home.

Once new owners start pouring hundreds of millions (if not billions) of external cash into the squad, facilities and stadium, that magic will be gone. For example, why would anyone want us to be handed a new stadium, when arsenal and spurs had to bleed to build theirs?

And this is without mentioning all the issues with the source of that money...
I think Qatari bid is about to clear our debt, focus on youth and the club’s own financial capacity to compete with the others. They are not seeking profit but reinvesting any profits back to the club and the community.

The first thing that comes to mind from those alleged Ratcliffe PR comments is "no money or value in the January window....but hey at least we are British*"

*Wall street funded British

Battle lines have been drawn and narrative been set. Clean white money vs Evil brown money.

It because his company doesnt have billions lying around in cash ffs.

The Qatari crowd will have billions lying around in US dollars.

People need to wait to see more info on JM bid before condemning it.
.

Shame not to hear about any other bids coming to the fore. I've been preparing myself for a Qatari takeover but I feel worse about it the closer it gets. Brexit Jim on the other hand is not looking like the one either. I know there will be no good options at this level but would at least like to see what else is potentially out there.

Personally, I have no preference out of the two. Pros and cons in both bidders.

INEOS bid is worse than current Glazer ownership. Will add debt to Ineos who need some way to service it. No new money for infrastructure development. No change of existing debt ( Qatar bid specifically mention 0 debt).

But he is bRiTish

its clearly better than the Glazers model, if it was a choice between the two nobody would stick with the Glazers

but they can’t top what the Qatari’s will offer so it’s not happening is it

You are the worst kind of rival fan. One of the best parts of redcafe is the discussion with rival fans. But you are just a troll. Nowhere to be found after losing to city despite many tagging you. And here you are trying to shit on us using the Qatari bid.

These are the guys responsible for the human rights violations in building the world cup. All is forgiven, as sportswashing is alive and well in the city of Manchester.
Sponsorship is not the same as ownership.
