How much should he even play before the word Cup?

We are undoubtedly better with him but would it be better to allow him the world cup month to get fully fit and hopefully stay that way until the end of the season?
Probably the opposite. We should get every minute out of him possible before the world cup knowing if he gets injured again we've got a nice 5 week break for him to heal up and be ready for the return of club games at Christmas.

Playing a player with a potential injury and risking aggravating the injury in the long term because they can just take a break later is not really a practice that should be encouraged and ethics aside, would be counterproductive for the team, the club, and any potential recruitment.

Edit: came out as accusing you of wanting to have injured players play.

Wish this fecker would stay fit, so we didn't have to rely on that sulker.

Who cares if he's back tomorrow, the weekend or the new year. He was back for 5 mins last time before he just casually strolled off the pitch and decided he was injured again. Not disputing his injury, I just think it's as much in his head as it is in his body, and once that happens there's no coming back.

are you the same guy who thinks Varane should of got up and sprinted after rolling his ankle?

Wouldn't rush him back for Chelsea but i cant wait to have him back fit, for a run of games. Rashford on the left, Martial through the middle and Bruno as a 10, the 3 of them have always shown a terrific understanding and link up and it'll only help us.

If he can do 45 mins vs Chelsea, we should get him in the lineup.

I don’t really recall he was that injury proned in the past? He used to be very inconsistent yes, does he always get those injuries out of nowhere?

He strained his quad at the start of 19/20 I believe, but when he returned from that he had a terrific season. Since that season though it's been constant soft tissue injuries. Ruptured his knee ligament in 20/21 and gotten worse ever since.

He needs to find some personal fitness regime that will improve his injuries IMO.

With Rashford starting to look like his 2019 self again, I really think we'll go up a level if Martial manages to stay fit for more than a couple of days at a time. Their chemistry when they're both on song is ridiculous

He hasn’t. It’s just become the thing now to kick him with. He’s been here 7 years and we’ve had a good look at him. He’s not this ‘he’ll inevitably get injured again within a few games’ player he’s being made out as. Similar with Varane. Every game now it’s ‘please stay fit’. He’ll inevitably get injured again at some point, being a professional footballer and all that, but it’s been massively exaggerated. Perhaps in the earlier years of his career, but not now.

Or do a Giggsy. Sell his sports car and take up yoga.

Back and hamstring issues are one in the same thing. If there is an issue with your back it puts more stress on your hamstring and visa versa.

Didnt he recently say that he played while injured during the Ole period? Rashford played while injured during the Ole period too because Ole asked that of his players. Cant imagine playing through injury is very good long term for a player. Might be why Martial is so injury prone now?

Speak to most professional players, they will tell you that they have to play while suffering from one injury or another. Martial claiming he played through injury is just a red herring.

He said he literally couldn't run. Players do play with minor injuries and injections all the time, for the good of the team in the short term, but often at the cost of taking themselves out for much longer.

Rooney in 09/10 is a classic example, got his metatarsal fractured against Bayern away, played 45 min of the 2nd leg with an injection, off for months later as we lost the title to Chelsea and was absolutely dogshit in the WC + opening months of 10/11.

Still injured. However long you think he's ever going to be out for. Double it and add a week.

That was the moment that ruined Rooneys prime. What a big error that was. ugh.

He was so so good before that happened too.

We would have won the CL and Prem that year if Rooney didn’t get injured. He was on absolute fire.

Hope that the club think about offloading him this summer.

He isnt reliable and should leave, fed up with him.
Yeah.. that's not happening unless we somehow sign 3 forwards this summer.

I think that ETH is happy with Rashford as a back up striker as long as there is a number 9.

So if Ronaldo and Martial leaves, we should only focus on buying one player.

No chance, and offloading Martial would be stupid considering he's quality if fit. You just don't want to be relying on him to be the main guy at this point as he's crocked, but as a depth piece he's fine.

Let's not rush him back, the WC is coming up very soon so there will be a gap with no game time regardless.

It would make sense to me to pace his recovery and then have a few games behind closed doors during the WC to get him match fit for the restart.
